Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The host was extremely welcoming and kind. The bed was very comfortable and the area was really safe and quite. The room was well insulated and quite at night. Everything was very clean and tidy and was cleaned each day. Close to lots of eating places and beautiful streets. Easy to walk to town or catch the metro.

The location was excellent and the owner was polite, professional and really willing to help. In case of a second visit in Rome it will be my first option.

Very good location north of the river. About a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and 20 minute walk from Trevi fountain, Staff very helpful and friendly

It was great other than there being quite a lot of noise on two of the nights of the four night stay from a neighbour (the room opened into a courtyard 4 floors high) solved by shutting the windows and putting on the air con. Not keen on there being a 40 euro charge for late arrivals past 7pm!
The location (10 minutes from the Vatican) was fantastic and the room and bathroom were perfect for our needs. Max was very helpful on our arrival. A great stay - thanks...

It wasn't the owners fault that he was in the hospital. His father and cousin met us when we arrived and they were very nice. The hotel is more like staying in an AirBNB. It would have been nice if someone had been there to answer questions - restaurant recommendations and transportation issues.
The room was clean, comfortable and modern. There were four layers of locked doors so we felt very safe. We never saw another person so it was like having our own apartment in Rome. The room is away from the noise and busyness of touristy Rome.

Due to the street noises it was impossible to sleep with an open window. If closed, all good.
Very good location, walking distance to Vatican, castle Sant Anegelo and Piazza del Popolo. Close to the property there are variety of restaurants/cafeterias. Manager was really helpful and suggested good spots. We appreciated that there were several city guide books available for the guests, thanks for that!

Owner was very kind gave us a lot of recommendations on our arrival such as restaurant. very safe location. Rooms were lovely to stay. Daily new of bottle of water in the fridge. it's very clean and comfortable! location is at central of everything very convient!

Nothing.
We were welcomed on arrival and given advice on where to eat. The location is great with restaurants nearby and very safe. It’s very close to the Vatican. It’s very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The Residenza is modern and new in a beautiful older building.

The room exceeded our expectations! It was really lovely, large in size, we're travelling for 3 and a half months, so we have a lot of stuff with us, but we didn't feel like we were on top of our stuff. The host helped us with the transportation to get to the location, what train to take etc. this was super helpful! It's also in a wonderful location, it's walking distance to Vatican City and walking distance from other attractions! It was wonderfully clean! It was nice and quiet and easy to access with key cards!

Max was so friendly and helpful providing us with places to go and eat. Location was great and the room was lovely. The coffee was amazing and Max left us water and some snacks ☺️
