Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNo shower, only a tub. The tub was nice and large but would have been nice to have a standing shower. There was a shower head on the tub but you would have to hold it in your hand to take a standing shower. Being 1.93m tall it was difficult to use.
Great location next to the transportation stops and St Mark's square. Hotel was in great shape and had beautiful views. The staff were very nice and helpful. Room was large for Europe standards.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast buffet on this trip was a disappointment. We think this is most likely due to Covid but on past trips there was all kinds of fresh fruit and choices for food. On this trip there were just apples and a few other things. Not a major complaint as the meal was only €10 and the coffee I drank was worth all of that.
Venice is our favourite place in Italy and the S&J is our favourite hotel. Over the past 17 years we have stayed at the S&J at least 6 times and it never dissapoints (except for one minor issue listed below). The rooms are large, the beds comfy and the showers excellent. Conveniently located near St Marks square and less than 15 min walk to Rialto Bridge. The staff is excellent and always willing to help. A young man at the front desk helped my sister-in-law get an appointment to have her nails done. He could of just given her the number, but he made the call and set everything up. Another great stay in Venice - Thank you S&J!

United KingdomBecause we arrived late, around 9pm, we ate in the hotel's Principessa Restaurant, one meal was nice but the other meal was dry and seemed either overcooked or as if it had been kept on the heat... maybe it was because it was late in the service... but we were quite disappointed as we were expecting the food to be really good.
The location is brilliant, being on the waterfront overlooking the bay and just metres away from St Mark's Square. The hotel provided a meet a greet service, which seemed expensive but I think is a competitive price on reflection. We booked a lagoon view which was wonderful, we didn't have to worry about the noise as there were electric shutters on the windows. The hotel also has a lift from the ground floor which is good for those who are not good with stairs.

BelgiumWe had a wonderful room with a round bed and little balcony. Bath and bathsalts were a great plus, and wonderful after a full day of walking. The location was perfect for us as we had planned to visit the Biennale, and a location with a view to the lagoon is actually always wonderful.

HungaryI can mention only one negative thing, that is the sound-proofing of the room. We can hear so much thing from the neighbour rooms.
The location is perfect. The staff is very very nice, friendly and helpful! The room was clean and our room has a beautiful see to the lagoon.

United States of AmericaOnly issue I had was some mosquitoes in the room, however I think that is a common issue in Venice.
Gorgeous view onto lagoon from balcony and excellent location right next to St Marks Square. Room had motorized shutters that you could close so outside noise was never an issue. Room itself was so beautiful and the bathrooms was giant. I left early in the morning and they gave me breakfast to go!

Great people, own restaurant with good food and lovely breakfast with cool outside seating. Best location! Behind the corner of St Marco and just in front boats (St Zaccaria/St Marco stop), taxi boats and gondolas. All nice bars & restaurants behind a corner short walking distance. If you are about the Biennale can walk or take the boat right in front of hotel. Lovely and clean rooms, rooms are in Venetian style, with all old glass chandeliers, high ceiling (218). Room and bathroom exceptionally clean. Green/red lights on rooms so that noone bothers you when inside, sound proof, cant hear anything. Prices are very good for the quality you get! Loved it, would be looking to stay there again next time I come in Venice! Thank you for making our stay special :)
