Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOur room had not been clean during our stay (3-night stay) because a housekeeper was coming in inconvenient time after 12pm when we were relaxing and getting ready for lunch, so we had to ask do not clean.
Excellent location. Nice, spacious room with a lake view from balcony (family room, second floor). Nice garden with deck chairs. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good with lots of variety. Parking was a great convenience.

United Kingdomhard to find as I drove into the sister hotel first. parking is tight and fairly limited, and finding entrance would have been hard for us so thankful the lady who came out to us from the sister hotel helped us. breakfast was nice, but on our last morning, the short black haired older waitress was extremely rude to us, which was unnecessary. we mentioned this to the reception on the way out of the breakfast, and she apologised. It's such a shame as all the other staff were really friendly..she needs some manners for the customer
loved the location and the size of the room. breakfast was good

United KingdomI’d have been disappointed if I didn’t book a room with a view so pay the extra money to look out onto the lake! Everything else was fantastic.
The location is excellent. Only 10 minutes walk to the fort in Sirmione and the position right by the water is incredible. The views are undisturbed by reeds and you can get into the water which we loved. Our view from the balcony was stunning listening to the small waves on the lake and looking out over the lake. The front lawn and sunbeds are a lovely place to relax. There is a small paddling pool also. The rooms are traditional and authentic but extremely comfortable. The beds were delightful and really comfy. Our air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was excellent - more continental but plenty of choice we never went hungry. Parking is good there was always a space. The staff most of all were excellent. It was my partners 30th and they left some small cakes and a note wishing him happy birthday which was such a lovely touch. It was very clean with fresh towels daily. Cannot recommend it enough! It has everything you need for a stay in Sirmione and considering the location it’s well worth the money!

PolandBreakfast for this price I would expect at least better coffee or fresh juices but the rest was good not big choice but good quality and scramble eggs where from the real eggs and not from powder like in other hotels. I would recommend some better instructions regarding the parking place on site. I would also recommend to clean a little bit enter to the lake. Without the swimming shoes was difficult to walk there and I'm not talking about the stone or shells but some peaces of glass or trashes from the lake. would be also great to clean an umbrella outside because they where full with spiders.
I think the localisation was perfect and the personnel was helpful and nice. Hotel was not the first new but clean und comfortable. Next to the hotel is a great Gelato with a playground for kids. If the hotel would invest more in some playground for kids in the garden I think it would upgrade the standard.

ItalyThe bed was uncomfortable for some but great for others. Some ants/bugs but that is to be expected when you are so close to the water I think.
The property had on site parking and the lake was directly behind the hotel. The rooms were spacious and the kitchen was great for less expensive meals.

ChileWhen I arrived the elevator was out of order and nobody helped me with my luggage. Fortunately my room was in the first floor, but in a hotel you expect somebody can carry your luggage.

CanadaCheck in and check out was done by hotel Paul, across the street! The desk kept our Passports for processing, so had to go back again! The hotel charges a security deposit of 100, why? Just to refund it after check out! Next Booking.com only takes half of the reservation charge, so during check in the other half is charged… Long process to check in! Waste of time!
Room was okay, paid extra to get Lake Garda View, really not worth the extra money! Breakfast was served in our hotel, pleasant surprise we didn’t had to go across the street!

United KingdomThe shower cubicle/bathroom was small, but adequate. We didn't know how much the tourist tax would be, which was a cause for concern as the range we were told was very broad (thankfully it was on the lower-end of the scale, but still an expense to consider) - it would be very useful if this was stated in advance somewhere. The hotel did have a power outage one evening, but this lasted only for 10 minutes.
Location excellent because there was easy access to swim in the lake and it was 10 minute walk to the old town. Smeraldo is opposite its sister hotel La Paul, where check-in/out was located, along with a restaurant/bar, other facilities, and access to lake on that side. We preferred the access to the lake at Smeraldo though, but enjoyed going across to La Paul to see the sunset over the lake. Breakfast in Smeraldo's dining room was pleasant, and there was a good choice of buffet items such as scrambled egg, bacon, delicious ripe tomatoes, bread, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, cakes, fruit etc. We had a lovely lake view from our balcony (family room for 3, first floor). The balcony had room for a table and two chairs, and a clothes horse to dry towels/clothes, which was very handy. The room had a pleasant decor, comfortable mattresses, and a large wardrobe with a safe. Our room was air conditioned, which was essential, and it also had a fridge for our use. We preferred swimming in the lake from our Smeraldo access, rather than the public beach in Sirmione as it was more convenient for us. We did not use the public beach, but it looked lovely when we were sightseeing, with sandy areas that not all locations around the lake have. We would recommend staying at Smeraldo, and we would certainly stay there again if we were able to have the lake view again, on the 1st or 2nd floor.

United KingdomSome facilities a bit tired, our fridge didn't work and the garden shower was broken too. We wanted to explore more places and would have been better hiring a car.
