Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeVery generous room size based on Japan standards, the room amenities were good and location is close enough (within walking distance) to the main attractions while being amongst a more quiet part of Kyoto to relax in. We also used the luggage forwarding service which the hotel staff was very helpful with processing and explaining to us how to use it.

South AfricaThe breakfast didn't cater for the halaal guests.
I loved the hotel. The location of the train station was close. The staff were amazing, especially Mr. Moon he is a true asset to that establishment. We left our package in 1 of the taxis, and he managed to retrieve it for us. His an amazing person as well...super friendly. I have only 1 suggestion....please include a menu for the halaal guests as well. We felt short-changed during breakfast Other than that, they provided for an enjoyable stay. Of the 5 hotels we stayed at, my daughter loved the Asai the best.

FranceRoom space quiet small lack of place to hanging clothes
The room even though it’s tiny we won’t lie it’s manageable with cabin size luggage and a big bag but you need to be organised and clean. The bed tatami style is beautiful and the matelas and sheets are top notch comfort.

FinlandAt breakfast, you could choose from several set options, which were served as complete meals at the table. Most of the meal sets felt a bit too large for a breakfast. Also, I wished the curry option would change more often. The hotel was located in a quiet area. If you're looking to be right next to a busy shopping street, the location might not be ideal.
The hotel is really clean. The beds were very comfortable, and even in the twin room, the mattresses could easily be pushed together. The air conditioning was very easy to use. The windows faced a quiet street. The natural light was a big plus!

Icelandthe walls are thin in some places so you can some times hear other rooms water running and im not sure if it was the time we went or if this is common but there where a lot of loud rings and beeps followed by police sirens outside late at night, if it was just the time we went then its not a big deal but it was strange hearing so much noise late at night.
the rooms are very nice, the staff is so kind and the location was almost perfect for our group.

United KingdomA tweak to the menu options at breakfast.
Can’t fault the experience, except to say a little more choice at breakfast for western palettes would have been good. It’s the only time of the day when I would prefer what I’m used to - fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, that type of thing.

United KingdomThe windows are locked for safety. We would have really preferred to have the possibility to ventilate the room. I think the hotel should probably install window security bars instead. But that was the only thing we didn't like!
You notice the beautiful design even before you enter. The lobby and rooms all have a pleasant smell, everything is warm and welcoming. The staff are all incredible! They went over and beyond to help us book a bus to the mountains by making a phone call in Japanese to the booking number. We were so grateful. The room is lovely and very comfortable, well thought of little details! Loads of activities in the lobby and fun nights at the hotel arranged by the staff. Great vibes. Perfect location, lots of izakayas around for a good dinner, and walking distance to both Kyoto station and the city centre. We would stay again!

United StatesNot much! Wish they had laundry on site, but otherwise it was great.
This was the best hotel we stayed at during our time in Japan. The location was prime and easy to walk to any area in Kyoto, but it was tucked away and didn't feel to busy. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and were great in assisting with getting our luggage transferred. The bar and restaurant were a great option if you don't feel like going out for a night either.

United KingdomStaff are a bit hands off, there isn’t a reception but rather just the restaurant and a small counter area for self-check in. I also agree with other reviews that they could do with a ramp for luggage
Great location, comfortable rooms - compact but good use of space so we could have both of our suitcases open without feeling cramped.
