Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SlovakiaThere is nothing we didnt like
I greatly appreciate the very helpful and friendly staff. The room was spacious with a large bed. There was a selection of Asian and European breakfast. The European breakfast was very well prepared and tasty. The beach is just a few meters from the hotel. Unfortunately, we made a spontaneous decision and stayed only one night, but it is definitely worth staying longer.

SpainI would definitely recommend this hotel, it is perfectly located, two steps from the beach and right next to a tram stop if you want to get to the center of Kamakura and other train stations. The room was very spacious and comfortable, and you had the possibility to privatise their onsen, which was a great way to wind down after walking all around Kamakura visiting all the sights. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and the staff was lovely.

Every part of this hotel was amazing. It is beautiful, clean and the staff are extremely friendly. If we ever come back to Japan we will 1000% come back to stay at the Bird Hotel. The breakfast and dinner served was also phenomenal. You cannot go wrong.

United KingdomAsked if we could check out an hour later at 11.00 and was charged extra for this - a little disappointed about this but perhaps we didn't read about this extra charge when we booked.
Good location near to the sea but also not too far from the shops. Clean and modern furnishings, comfortable and spacious room. Hotel also recommended a lovely soba restaurant very close by which we had also picked out beforehand and we had a very enjoyable dinner there.

JapanI loved how dog friendly they were. They provided large bowls, pee pads and a blanket for my dog. Their menu also has a dog dinner and dog breakfast item for purchase that my dog loved (steamed veggies).

United States of AmericaNothing we can think of.
We like everything about this hotel: friendly receptionist and staff, very spacious room, nice ambiance of the room and the dinning room, etc. The cook-to-order breakfast sets were simple but extremely fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed the lovely private onsen bath that could be reserved free of charge. Even though the location was two short train stops away from the Kamakura Train Station and the Tsurugaoka Shrine, the hotel is actually within walking distance to the Great Buddha and the Hasedera Temple, and is only one block from the ocean. The place is such a gem!

JapanApparently they are used to welcome people with their dogs (they even have a specific item on the menu for dogs). No problem for us, but some might find it unconfortable.
Very nice place and very friendly staff. Beds are confortable and everything is super clean. Breakfast was very tasty although quantity was a bit limited for my taste. The shared bath has to be booked when you check-in. So it's great because you have the bath for yourself, but also you cannot use it freely since it might be booked by other rooms. Altogether a great experience in Kamakura.

SingaporeThe bathroom is a little too small to compare with room size. A little inconvenience to it.
It is away from the busy street, the elegant and modern furnishings with a large size room, the little food menu for the dog is too impressive!

JapanOnly negative point was a bath. Huge bath is very special and we had a relaxing time, but it was a bit hassle to get an appointment. In my preference, private bath is better because we could take a bath freely when we want to.
Beautiful approach and garden were perfect and we really love them. Breakfast in the garden was very good experience. Location close to the sea is also appreciated and we could enjoy the sea at night with a kind staff arrangement.

JapanThe Males staff doesn’t work the extra mile, in fact looks like they don’t care at all. As a matter of fact, there was only 1 thing that I had to reclaim, and the manager took full responsibility and managed accordingly and exceeded expectations, she makes almost us to regret we have complained. I am almost sure the root cause of the mistake was due to males staff mistake, even once we returned to the hotel at night time he wasn’t there at the front to greet us.
Proximity to station within a very nice neighborhood with a 24 hours convenience store and the fanciest restaurants in a 3 minutes walking radio. Not a front beach hotel but just in the corner crossing the boulevard. To be honest loved the Manager Mrs Horiuchi and her ALL Japanese staff able to communicate in english, Kudos for ALL the females personal, sincere big smiles and kind conversation. We had the Queen room with shower and huge balcony, it is really worth to use it while having a Champagne bottle with local ham and cheese. Make us feel to my wide and myself at home. BTW the breakfast was really good and healthy, they even repeat you with a second cup of coffee.
