Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe room is not small, but the design would not allow bigger suitcases to be opened flat. The shower smells somewhat moldy. No window.
The private sauna Bathtub is separated from the shower.

New ZealandWe found it too small for us but okay for one night. Traditional sleeping arrangements which weren’t great for my back.
An amazing wee room, well equipped, clean and modern. Easy walk from the station and close to the river, castle, restaurants etc.

JapanThere are no windows but that's not unusual and not really a problem for a few nights.
Something a little different - it's essentially private sauna rooms, with bed and bath. Nicely designed and feels luxurious. Fantastic value for money. Good location, not far from castle, and walkable to JR station

AustraliaOk to address some of the negatives. It's a traditional futon bed so if you need a proper mattress it might not be for you. It's not staffed and has pin code entry and you may need Google translate to read the message. And there is a noisy air or water pump that can be heard through the night so maybe bring earplugs if you're sensitive but it's not too bad. Noise is definitely noticeable though. And it's small, but it's Japan so if you're used to a big hotel room or a little mobility impaired it may not be for you as you do need to access the bedroom through a small sliding window.
Great location, short walk to the station, castle, and situated near the river with nice views. Amazing food and drink locations nearby. Very clean room, relaxing sauna and very nice bathroom facilities, free tea and tea set for a little tea ceremony, comfortable bedding (traditional futon). Beautifully presented and exceptional value for money. What a fun experience.

GermanyLoud ventilation and no windows.
Extraordinary stay in Matsue. After we found the futon in the hallway, it was a comfortable stay. We didn’t have the time to test the sauna, but everything else was fine.

JapanMy one major gripe is that check in was at 4:30PM instead of the 4PM advertised. As I came in on a night bus, I would probably have booked another hotel if I knew check in was so late when all I wanted was a shower and nap. Because there is no staff, you also can’t drop your luggage off beforehand. One last minor point is that you need a PIN to exit the building which would be a death trap in case of an emergency.
Unique concept with many amenities, the best which is obviously the personal sauna. Very sleek interior makes it feel like a boutique hotel. Good prices in a city where lodging is limited and expensive.

LithuaniaAnd I would rate the property 10/10 if it wasn’t the lack of mattress. I understand that the full experience is very Japanese in this hotel. Just keep in mind you are going to sleep basically on the floor which was very challenging for us. And the light kept switching on automatically during the night so maybe this is me lacking sleep that night makes me rate this property this way. Otherwise it was very unique!
Mixed feelings, as it was very beautiful. Private sauna makes it very unique experience, as well as the “bedroom” which is accessible through a window.

SwitzerlandUnfortunately the futon was by our western standards very uncomfortable, more so than other places, but the owner provided us with a second one. In addition, the bedroom is difficult to access because the inner door is similar to a capsule hotel, the sink is not very convenient and there are no windows.
The hotel is in a great location, between the castle and the station, both of which are a 15-minute walk away. There are many restaurants of all kinds nearby. The hotel is nice and everything is of quality. The owner, although we did not meet him in person, is responsive and found solutions to our requests.

DenmarkThe sleeping arrangement is definitely not convenient for 6! We felt like in a shoe box. When the futon were placed we couldn’t move anymore. We had to move the coffee table a bit to open the sofa bed but as it was a fridge in it, the morning we noticed than water were coming out of it, because I walk into it. There was no windows. Actually look more like a karaoke place than an hotel room! Absolutely wouldn’t recommend it or at least they should change their description.

United StatesThe "smart" lights are irritating. They turn on full brightness anytime you open a door, which you cannot prevent, and also meant that when I used the bathroom at night, my partner woke up with bright lights. They also did it randomly on their own. This is really annoying if you need a good night's sleep. The hot water is also not very hot. There is a huge beautiful tub, but only luke warm water, even when the dial is turned to the hottest setting.
There is no check in process or staff to help, but it was easy and convenient. Good location, surrounded by restaurants and 15 minutes walk from our train station. It is new and modern with nice amenities, it feels like a high end hotel at first...
