Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt was everything we’d hoped it would be. A beautiful and natural hillside setting with a touch of luxury. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The two restaurants were great. We were able to hike nearby Mt Kintoki and be back for a massage before dinner. The private onsen on the balcony, in the open air, was the icing on the cake.

IndonesiaI really wish there were more avenues for us to be driven down to Hakone-Yumoto or the area where the open air museum is; the retreat is a bit tucked away in that sense.
The villa itself (we stayed at #5) was absolutely gorgeous, the vibe of the place is impeccably calm and relaxing. As we live in Tokyo, the contrast in atmosphere was such a refreshing breeze for us. The staff was also amazing, attentive; going here and there (within the retreat complex) was a breeze, we'd ring the front desk and a buggy/car would pick us up in like 5 minutes. The breakfast at the french restaurant was awesome as well; really hope to return soon.

United StatesWe enjoyed a villa with a private onsen, as it turns out, this was really important since I have tattoos that would have prohibited me from going in the public onsen. The staff was wonderful, the food was wonderful. We opted for the kaiseki breakfasts 2 of the days we were there that were just amazing. The villa was spacious, lovely, the onsen downstairs was so relaxing. We loved walking the grounds, and its right up the hill from the bus line, which will take you anywhere. We also borrowed electric bikes from the property and rode around the countryside and to visit a temple. The speed limit is slow here and the drivers are kind and patient - I never felt unsafe riding around on the e-bike.

LuxembourgThe only thing I didn’t like was that we booked a room with a private onsen. However, in the pictures it looked like an outdoor onsen, which we were really looking forward to. Instead, it was indoors, and when I called to ask if we could change to a room with an outdoor onsen, no one ever called me back
I especially like the seclusion of the hotel and the kindness and flexibility of the staff

United KingdomThe air con in our room was noisy. It was set on a timer so it kept going on and off during the night which woke us up.
We loved the unique forest setting and the way the villas are very natural and homely. The Woodside Dining was excellent. We would have also liked one more less expensive restaurant option, as many local restaurants were closed during the week. The staff were so friendly and helpful, giving us lifts into town and to the bus stop. We thought Yoshina was lovely! So kind, helpful and friendly.

United StatesIf you arrive by public bus, be sure to call them to pick you up from the bus stop. They will be there very promptly. We made the mistake of thinking we could do the five minute walk with our luggage, not realizing it was all uphill. So that was our mistake, not theirs.
This place encapsulated everything I love. Earthy, traditional, refined, high quality, serene…I could go on. The staff were at my beck and call, providing concierge service from the moment we arrived. The amenities were fantastic and they thought of everything. We hadn’t eaten all day, and they even took us to a local restaurant that was still serving lunch. We were in Cabin 11, which was secluded and peaceful.

United KingdomWe couldn't work out how to turn off the light in the onsen at night, nor the air conditioning - and couldn't find instructions. The remotes didn't seem to work. We mentioned this on check out, but are not 100% sure we were understood. If we'd have stayed another night, we'd have made more of an effort to get this sorted. And it did not overshadow our amazing stay.
Our chalet was fantastic. We'd chosen one with a private onsen. They were quite busy but we barely met a soul. Quiet, secluded and peaceful. It was a shame we were only there for one night. We had the kaiseki dinner in our own private room in the Japanese restaurant (they have a French one on site as well) - which was in addition to the room cost - with some paired saké. The Japanese-style traditional breakfast was very good. There was also a cafe on site that offered free coffee to residents whenever you wanted. The onsite team were excellent. A lovely treat to end our holiday.

AustriaUnfortunately, the shower head in our villa (#3) wasn’t working properly and couldn’t be fixed during our stay. While we were still able to shower before using the onsen, it was a bit inconvenient and caused some water to splash around. That being said, a wooden stool and buckets were also available for a traditional wash, reducing the splashing.
One of the best stays we've ever had! From the kind and accommodating staff—who helped us navigate transport, noted our dietary restrictions, drove us nearby, and responded quickly to every request—to the stunning, nature-filled property and beautiful villa (#3), everything was exceptional. The villa was spotless and had everything we needed. The private onsen was a dream after walking all over Tokyo, and the fireplace created a cozy cabin atmosphere in the forest. The Japanese breakfast was generous and delicious, and the multi-course dinner was equally outstanding. We didn't visit the public onsen (tattoos), but didn't feel like we missed out given we had our own in the villa. Izakaya (MONTA) in the nearby village was excellent. Staff handled reservation upon request, and drove us to and from. 10/10 — would absolutely book again!

United StatesWe decided to take a taxi from Odawara Station, which made the half hour journey to the Villa very easy. The property is a beautiful woodsy area and the villas are all separated and fairly private. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff who immediately brought us to our villa by golf cart and checked us in at our place with green tea and a snack. It was so nice! The villa was beautiful! Spacious, clean, with woodsy views and our favorite was the private onsen! I even ordered fruit, cheese, chocolate and wine to be delivered to the onsen! The staff were very friendly and accommodating! They answered all questions and made us feel very taken care of. We had dinner at the Woodside restaurant. It was a course meal and very lovely. We enjoyed it. The breakfast we had the next morning was also wonderful! We only spent one night here, but as soon as we arrived, we were sad we weren’t staying longer. We would definitely recommend this place and book again!

SwitzerlandVery remote. Difficult to get to restaurants yet the hotel only offers full-course degustation menus. Nice for one night but not for multiple nights. It would be good if they offered a la carte options at Woodside Dining for dinner. No room service after 8:30.
Beautiful retreat in the midst of nature. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is very good. Outdoor baths in villas are very relaxing.

JapanMy only suggestion would be additional hooks in the bathroom and floor heating would be the ultimate luxury
Every aspect was carefully thought out from pre arrival through to departure. The ‘tree house’ vibe was sublime. The bed was like sleeping in a cloud…The Japanese restaurant was superb - we definitely hope to return for a longer stay as 1 night was not enough.
