My partner and I absolutely loved how well-kept and cozy this ryokan was and the service was top-notch and kind. There was a public bath on the bottom floor for all guests, and 2 private onsens we could rent for free for 1 hour (you pick either 1 or the other). Our only regret is not checking in earlier than after dinner (we were exploring the Hells) as we couldnt use the onsens to its full value. The classic ryokan breakfast the day after was nothing short of amazing, as pictured and each small dish was so carefully put together and tasted delicious. The little extras that were also great were the unlimited shochu in the lobby at night, and coffee service after breakfast in the morning. Location is perfect for us, as it was walking distance from 5 of the 7 Beppu Hells, and close to the steamed food centre (Jigokumushikobo Kannawa) which we had for lunch.

Private onsens are too small

We stayed there for 2 nights with dinner and breakfast included. Menu was not repeated for both the dinners and breakfast. All the meals are delicious and many varieties

Perhaps the onsen on the outside was a bit odd but the upper mountain view was excellent. The room was a bit on the dim side. It could use a bit more lighting.

It's a great deal. The food was lavishly elaborate. Portions were generous. Thoughtfully done. Staff were extremely friendly and courteous.

Bright exit signs in my room. I couldn’t sleep until 3am on my final night. It left a bad taste in my mouth checking out.

The road driving in is narrow and only allow one car in either direction to pass.

The dinner and breakfast were prepared with such effort. Throughly enjoyed the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Also love the fact that besides the common onsen, there are other onsens like an outdoor onsen and 2 other onsens with mountain or sea view. The staff are so friendly and could communicate in English.

The location is fantastic. So close to the seven hells and surrounded by small streets with steam popping up everywhere. The room was spacious, bathroom was nice. We only used the family Onsen, it was very relaxing. Breakfast was delicious, very traditional Japanese.

Attentive and friendly staff, Ryokan is located in between typical local streets. The onsen was amazing. It was very pleasantly hot and offers amazing views over the city or mountain. Also ate some amazing Japanese breakfast

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ryokan was located quiet location near the Beppu hells. The room was very clean and they provided beautiful yukatas for women and standard ones for men. The ryokan has 2 private outdoor onsens with mountain view and ocean view, and a separate onsen right outside of the property. There were two nice lunch restaurants nearby where they serve onsen steamed food, and one of them has a foot bath at the tables.

Areas for Improvement: Price Variation: The price difference between peak season weekends and regular weekdays is significant. However, the quality and variety of the food remain the same regardless of the date. This disparity makes booking during weekends or peak season feel less worthwhile. Rooftop Bar Private Onsen: While there is a choice between a mountain view and an ocean view, the actual views were disappointing. Additionally, the proximity to another ryokan raised privacy concerns, as we could see people passing by, making us worry that they might see us bathing. Despite these issues, the overall stay was pleasant, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff. However, addressing the points mentioned above could enhance the experience further, especially concerning value for money and privacy. Thank you for the hospitality.

Positives: Food: The meals were meticulously prepared and delicious, offering a true taste of Japanese cuisine. Private Onsen: Having access to a private onsen was a wonderful and relaxing experience.

Amazing place! Loved everything about it. Great and very comfortable traditional rooms. Various onzens were absolutely spectacular. As somebody other review said - Go early and relax and get spoiled - you won't regret it. Staff was super friendly. Yukatas for women are beautiful and a great touch. Rooms are spacious, clean, and wonderful. Different public and private onzen options make the place like paradise. Traditional breakfast is very special. We want to go back!!! Easy parking and access. A number of dining options. Beppu is a great hotspring town.
