Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyThis was one of our favourite hotels on our Japan trip. The rooms are very spacious, have big comfortable beds, and a little seating area. We enjoyed having the extra space to properly unpack and chill in the room when needed. There is a fantastic dining/lounge area downstairs with free drinks. Staff were friendly. The laundry facilities were very useful. Would recommend.

Comfortable beds, we even got connecting rooms. No breakfast, but many restaurant options close by. Close to train to Fushimi Inari, but a little bit further from the center of Kyoto.

United KingdomA few things to keep in mind: The hotel' room is quite small, as it is normally small for most every hotel in Japan anyway! So we kinda get used to it... The hotel is a bit out of the way from Kyoto Station—about a 10–15 minute walk depending on your route (and whether you get lost like we did 😅). There’s also a nearby station from another train line and a bus stop that offer shorter walks compared to walk straight to Kyoto Station, but using them daily could add to your transport costs. Wi-Fi was occasionally weak, which might be a concern if you rely on a stable connection for work etc. Lastly, we suspect there may have been a mosquito—or possibly a bed bug—in the room, as we woke up with two or three fresh bite marks each morning. Not ideal, but hopefully just a one-off issue. We didn't complain to the hotel though, we are supposed to let them know so they can be aware or rectify the issue correctly, but with other nicer things they provided we kinda do not bother to complain! Thank you to all the staff for your help and working hard for our lovely stay 🙏💖
We stayed at Wander Hotel for 9 nights and had a genuinely pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, well-kept, and the staff are exceptionally kind and helpful. They provide thoughtful complimentary amenities like pajamas, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hairbrushes—which added a nice touch of comfort to our stay. Although the rooms aren’t cleaned or the beds changed daily (which was perfectly fine for us), fresh towels were provided every day. One of our favorite perks was the free hot and cold drinks available from 6 AM to midnight—super convenient and great selection. We also made use of their luggage forwarding service, which was incredibly helpful and made our travel much smoother. In terms of location, the hotel is right next to her river only 3 mins walk, it also well-connected by public transport. Even though It's about a 10–15 minute walk from Kyoto Station, however, it's closer to several other stations including Shichijō Station, Kiyomizu-Gojō Station, and Gojō Station. These nearby stops make it easy to reach popular spots like Gion, Fushimi Inari Shrine, and the Kyoto Museum. Even the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) is accessible with just a few stops by bus or train from these stations. Overall, Wander Hotel offers great value, thoughtful service, and a convenient base for exploring Kyoto.

NetherlandsNot really. I think the service is nice. Maybe for the room cleaning, the trash bin in the bathroom can be a litter bit bigger? And also would be nice to give another bag for the PET bottel.
The location of the hotel is wonderful. Close to the subway station. There is also a 7-11 on the other side of the road. The staff members are also very friendly and try to help you. Also on the ground floor there is vending machine for drinks which is for free.

United KingdomBrilliant from start to finish, there’s a drinks area where you can get free drinks your whole stay, any amenities you need are at a stand by reception free of charge including PJ’s. The room was much bigger than most in Japan and about a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station, 2 minute walk to the underground and 20 minute walk to Gion.

PhilippinesThe value for money is the best point about this hotel. At such a cheap price I got a hotel that’s just 10 minutes away from Kyoto station, right across a 7-11, and right next to a bus stop. The rooms were cozy and comfortable with refrigerator and safe. The common area had free coffee drinks and water. The amenities are also complete. For the price I paid I definitely got more than I expected!

United StatesWashing services were great but a hotel guest took our wash out after we were a minute late. The hotel staff was fantastic and gave us our wash right away but it’s just something small to watch out for
Fantastic location with super ice cold rooms after a hot day of walking around. For vegetarians, there is a cute cafe and an incredible ramen place right next door before you get to the river. The hotel also has a great drink offering that is free to start your morning or end your day.

Great lounge area, drinks (juices, soda) were available every day (not between 00.00-06.00), and very spacious lounge area where we could enjoy our 7/11 snacks which is across the road. We also used their washing machine and the staff helped us with our luggage transport. It is also near a subway line which has direct lines to Gion and fushini inari.
