Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt was kind of cramped, not much room for bags in the room. A little bit of a pain to get to from the Shinkansen. Sometimes it felt a little "DIY." Hard to get up the spiral staircase.
Very good price. Once I got used to how the property was set up, I realized that it was a good value for the money. Excellent view of Mt. Fuji from the top.

PortugalStaff could be more present at the reception. Not enough kitchen equipment as we needed to cook.
Very helpful staff when they were present at the reception. Everything was very clean, the bedroom was comfortable for the four of us. Good value for money, without them we wouldn't have visited the Fuji area as everything is quite more expensive than this. Not every guest house allows kids, really happy that they allowed us.

SwitzerlandSlightly inconveniently located if you want to do daytrips. Just because you have to take a special train, that doesn't come very often, to get to the closest main station.
Very clean and cozy environment with nice facilities. The beds are great with a lot of space for your luggage. The view from the rooftop is AMAZING!!! And very close to the train station. Overall a great place.

ItalyIt was a bit challenging to communicate with the team as all the messages and instructions about how to get there were in Japanese only. When I turned up in the very narrow alley that leads to the door downstairs I had a bit of a worrying moment as noone was there and I had no wifi. But they buzzed me in when I rang the bell, and someone arrived reasonably quickly to tell me which bed was mine etc. Location is also a bit of a challenge as the bus from ShinFuji takes almost an hour to get there.
Nice design, very comfy beds and a fabulous view of Fuji from the rooftop...main challenge is getting there...

NetherlandsThe building itself is very unwelcoming and the entrance is straight out of a horror movie. The facilities were quite bare.
Very clean hostel, the owner was nice (although a bit late with checking in). It is easily reachable from the main stations and there is a smaller station. I was the only one there so don't expect a very social/busy hostel.

CanadaThe guest house was an hour walk away from Fuji Station, but was relatively close to a smaller local station. I had a little trouble finding the entrance as the door was on the side of the building in a small alley.
The host was incredible and gave me a tour of the whole guest house. He made sure I knew what was available in the area and directed me to a website with restaurant and shop recommendations. The area was very nice and everyone I encountered spoke some English.

MalaysiaNothing much to be honest. It’s not a hotel and as a guesthouse, it provides everything you would expect.
The guesthouse is at human size; It doesn’t have many beds, making it much more cozy. The common area are practical; While both the living room and the showers are close to one another, you still have nice separation between those spaces. The bunk beds are comfortable and their wood give an authentic smell to the place.

Japana lower bed had little bunk in the middle part and it was keep banging my knee when I sleeping and moving... don't know why they made like that. it's painful! hallway and room are probably connected and divided by only thin wood board with a gap. so the structure of hallway making sounds lauder echo at the night time when noisy ppl coming back. it disturbing our early sleep several times.😑 hope they seal it well asap... need to keep punching parking card but sometimes forget to do that. want to make it easier...
staff was nice, interesting architecture, clean shower, common room and nice kitchen.

JapanSince the front door was locked, my friend and I needed to call the staff to let us in to the guesthouse and we had to wait outside.
It's located pretty close to the local line, but a little far from bus stops (depending on where you're coming from).

AustraliaNo staff anywhere to be seen. Bins full, sinks dirty, shower dirty. Not really a hostel vibe, more of a hotel vibe. The area is really seedy - lots of adult industry businesses etc.
Beds were comfortable and well organised. Lockers were good. The place was modern, and it was great to have a rooftop (however the rooftop wasn't very welcoming).

NetherlandsYou have to enter the hostel via a scatchy side alley. The building of the hostel looks like it is still under construction. Besides we were the only guest so we thought that was pretty spooky. p.s. We would not recommended going to fuji but to fujinomiya as the city is rather ugly and dull.
The hostel looked new and very clean.
