A true gem! This boutique hotel exceeded all expectations. The interior design is absolutely stunning. Every detail, from the furniture to the lighting, reflects a perfect balance between modern comfort and timeless local charm. The staff were exceptional – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From check-in to check-out, the service was flawless. It felt like staying with friends who truly care about your experience. I can’t recommend this place enough – a beautifully curated space with outstanding hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back if have a chance!

Nothing! I travelled through Sri Lanka for three weeks prior, Aathma Colombo House was my fourth accommodation, and it was exceptional :).

Aathma Colombo House is a serene design retreat tucked away just 20 minutes from the city centre. Surrounded by nature, the space blends bohemian charm with traditional Sri Lankan design. The rooms are spacious, light-filled and calming, while the lakeside pool and common areas invite slow, intentional living. Service is warm, personal, and attentive. The staff are not only caring but also incredibly knowledgeable, and can help curate daytime itineraries tailored to your interests—whether it’s culture, food, or shopping. The food is fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented, and their signature cocktails are a perfect way to wind down after a day of exploring.

Aathma Colombo House is a beautiful boutique hotel. The interior and exterior design is stunning with an amazing mix of eclectic style. The rooms are super comfortable and the staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is exceptional. I highly recommend Aathma Colombo House and would definitely stay again if I am lucky enough to visit again.

We had the most wonderful stay at Aathma House. The location is perfect: a quiet, little green haven in the midst of Colombo. The room was outstandingly well decorated and comfortable and the pool was stunning. Most of all, the personnel was particularly sweet and attentive (and the food delicious - big up to the crab curry!). We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Aathma House for this wonderful start to our honeymoon!

Some of the rooms are quite dark and when we wanted to stay an extra night we were offered a higher rate than available online which was annoying. Overall - a great place though.

Characterful and bright. Loved the layout and peaceful location. Rooms are well equipped and the pool is nice. Food was excellent - especially the breakfast.

I don’t think I have ever walked into a hotel/guest house and said “wow” before. The aesthetic of the hotel is formidable. Every detail has been considered to create a magical vibe. The room was incredible with separate dining area and a hot tub! The service was amazing!! The staff were so kind and attentive. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back one day!

The location is beautiful, but fairly remote. This was perfect for us as we didn't need access to the city by foot, Ubers are easy to get though. It's an amazing oasis in an otherwise hectic city.

Aathma totally exceeded my expectations. We needed a place to stay for one night at the end of our trip - we thought this would just be a stopover, but it felt like a whole holiday in itself. The room was INSANE, so ornate and cool. You really feel like you're in someone's incredible house. The team especially made it special: massive thanks to Shandheep and Rifath, and Gayan (food service). The food was delicious! We had room service, which was a real treat. Thank you Aathma team!

The hotel is located a little outside of Colombo and is surrounded by nature. The city is about a 20 min uber drive. It is beautifully designed, great attention has been put into all the details, the place is still very comfortable and relaxing. Would definitely recommend

Nothing to dislike

This is one of the most interesting and beautiful hotels we have stayed in. Duchy, the owner, has spent many years designing and decorating the hotel with care, love and exquisite flair. The result is a wonderful oasis in Colombo with comfort and interest around every corner. It is a fabulous place to relax, particularly situated around the shores of a large lake. All the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. My wife was a little unwell during our two nights stay and she was looked after with superb care and warm attention - thank you. In addition, the food is of a very high quality. We were so very sad to leave but it is our firm intention to return. Don’t miss this wonderful Colombo gem.

The situation of the property on the lakeside meant that there was a large amount of wildlife that you could see. The interior of Aathma House is a real delight and lifts the spirits. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. The property is very unique and it was great to meet the owner and hear about her journey taking the property from residential to guest house. A real experience.

It’s a bit outside of town which in a way was a selling point because it’s near the lake and quite quiet, but it’ll be a bit expensive for taxis back from town and tuktuk drivers will try to scam you

I was blown away! The interior design was wonderful. I had a jacuzzi in my room and there’s a beautiful pool overlooking the lake. Staff were responsive and helpful

Beautiful and thoughtfully designed property, yet also felt very comfortable and homely. Loved the pool and terrace area, lovely having dinner out there in the evening with all the lights on, could hear the hub bub of the city but felt we were in our own little oasis. We had the king suite which was great for our family, lots of space and very comfortable. Food was delicious and staff were very helpful and friendly . Wish we could have stayed another night, no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Beautiful property in a tranquil spot by the river, wonderful service and such friendly staff. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay more! We arrived early in the day and were offered breakfast and they were also able to have our room ready early, which was fantastic! Can't recommend Aathma Colombo House enough. We had a few hours exploring Colombo and it was quick to get to the city by Tuk Tuk.

The cleanliness of the bathroom was ok, but could be improved with a little more attention to check for big insects before the check-in ( even if as it is very close to a lake we can understand that it's possible to find some insects around)

This place is beautiful. From the garden and the patio facing the lake, to the surrounding nature, to the breakfast with the chorus of birds in the morning. The decorations and the art pieces make this place magical. We had also dinner, and that was absolutely delicious. The bed was super comfortable and the staff very helpful. We will come back for sure in the future!

It is a little far out from Colombo city but I guess that’s quite nice as it feels more remote and peaceful.
