We stayed at Blue Waters 4 nights during the high season in Arugam bay (July-August). It was a real relief to find out that the hotel is actually in Pottuville and not Arugam Bay, which meant a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere as opposed to the busy Arugam Bay. We found the hotel to be truly nice, with a selection of hardworking staff that was always there whenever we needed anything. The cabins have a basic decoration but are really clean and comfortable. The fact that they all are located in front of the beach with no one around really helps you feel like you’re staying at a private beach. It kind of felt as if we were staying at a private beach in Zanzibar! We really loved the food offered at the hotel restaurant, ended up having lunch and dinner there almost everyday! Overall, our stay was really nice and would really recommend anyone to stay at Blue Waters!

There is nothing to dislike, but to mention that facilities are basic but good.

Lovely quiet location easily accessible by Tuktuk from Arugam Bay. The accommodation is beautifully designed, simple, very comfortable and as clean as a Cabana can be. This is a great place to stay for those who want the cabana living with a bit of comfort. (Lovely touches of great beds, bedding and fabulous towels!)

Being a family Cabana, the toilet had no door, should at least have a curtain. Even with fans it got very hot in the night, a mechanised extractor fan will for sure make a huge difference.

Great location, perfect to chill, the beach almost to yourself and locals were really friendly and respected your privacy. Staff was fantastic, meals were delicious, juices were so refreshing, though alcohol was not available.

Absolutely amazing location right on a secluded beach. The staff is beyond friendly and the cabanas are really cute and authentic. Recommended for anyone looking to get some peace and quiet, but only a 10 minute tuktuk ride away from the busy streets of Arugam Bay.

The only thing that could be better is having sun-loungers and umbrella available for the guest to use on the beach. while we were there it was 40+ degrees so was impossible to spend long on the beach as we had to keep running back for some shade. The beach close the the hotel entrance could use some clean up- which is not a major thing as as you get 15 feet onto the beach its as perfect as the picture.

The staff are extremely friendly and cant do enough for you. the food was fresh and delicious and the beach is so private- you have the whole bay to yourself. Its great if what you are looking for is some solitude

The room was nice even though I feel like quality-price is not that good as we found a couple of spider nets hanging from our room and a couple of frogs which came outside the bathroom and for it being a pretty expensive hotel maybe you don’t expect to find this. Besides this two things concerning bugs, the rooms are nice and the service is amazing

This hotel is in front of the beach and has amazing views even though this beach is not the surfing one. The food is outstanding and we would like to specially mention kiyas, who was an amazing cooker as well as surf teacher and the hotel was worth it just for having the pleasure of meeting him.

Bathrooms are used and it is really expensive. Beware, they add many taxes to your trip so you end up paying a lot more than what was foreplaned with booking. We had diners there and our plates were so empty we had to order another dish ! We are professionals in travelling and we have never had this much surprise with pricing. We had to spend a hundred dollars more than foreplaned.

Absolutely stunning, private, peaceful and relaxing. Our whole stay at Blue Water was perfect, the cabanas are cute, clean and spacious for couples. We couldn’t fault anything. We stayed for my 40th birthday and the team decorated our room, what a lovely surprise on entry. Although there is no air conditioning, the fans in the room are sufficient and the cabanas are designed well with openings for a breeze. Rinos is amazing, he was so attentive and looked after all of our needs. He’s really friendly, a pleasure to meet and an excellent chef. Sudha and Dinosan are both phenomenal, they make sure the whole area around the cabanas are pristine, they take so much pride and leave patterns in the sand for guests. There is a good variety of food, the fresh juices are so tasty. We had breakfast and dinner most days and Rinos catered for our tastes. The beach is private and only a few steps away, most days we were the only ones there, it is paradise. At night we fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Thank you Blue Water you made our stay unforgettable.

We had a wonderful stay of 3 days at Blue Waters. During our 23 days of travelling through Sri Lanka, the stay at Blue Waters was a welcome relaxing experience. The cabanas are located next to the ocean, so the kids enjoyed plying in the waves the whole day, while we could relax with a book. The cabanas are very well equipped, and the staff was extremely friendly. Good food also. Highly recommended!

Pay attention, there is no AC, and we had to sleep each night with insects. At 5-6 am birds started screaming so loudly and the staff did some noise as well because of lack of soundproofing. The room was only cleaned upon request. Moreover, the restaurant was very poor and expensive. Additionally, the location is far from the village/Arugam Bay, requiring us to take a tuk-tuk every time we wanted to eat or participate in any activities. Furthermore, the beach had no facilities at all, and sometimes it was crowded with locals. The bathroom was the worst part of our stay, with no hot water, and it seemed like no one cared about the issue. No door between room and bathroom. During our travels around Sri Lanka, we stayed in five different hotels, and unfortunately, this was the only one that asked us to pay an extra 3% for using a card for payment. This led to an unpleasant discussion during check-out, as they tried to force us to pay, but we obviously refused.

There was a very nice dog, who lived in the hotel.

From the beginning on, everything was perfect. The receptionist manager took care about us and was always around to deal with customers in case they need something. Very generous, kind person. Restaurant was not open since there were not many guests. So they cooked something for us and charged really high, not worth it at all. Disappointed with the staff.

The resort is great but idle for couples since they are Cabanas. With kids may be not a good idea.

Blue waters is the perfect place to go if you want to switch off from busy city life. You will wake up to the sounds of the ocean and Niaz’ team will cook nice and fresh meals for you. The only time you have to become active is when it comes to deciding whether to spend the day at the paradise beach within steps of your cabana (which you will have all to yourself on most days!), or take a short tuktuk ride to main Arugam Bay with all its different restaurants, coffee shops and bars but with a beach that’s nowhere as nice as the one at Blue Waters.

The location is amazing, you have your own private access to a beach, you can hear the ocean from your room, great food with lots of options, and friendly/kind staff, the room was so peaceful, great size with four poster beds and a walk in shower, it's a beautifully made Cabana, top tip, go in February for off season to enjoy complete quiet/chilled time and avoid swathes of other tourists

Care taker is super friendly. The property is very unique in Sri Lanka. And you can visit the beach easily. If you visit the beach at golden hour, there is a breathtaking view for sure.

The location is amazing - about 15 min drive by Tuk-Tuk from Arugam bay, which gives you almost 100% private beach just few steps away and little quiet peaceful paradise. The condos are super authentic.
