Nothing, everything was exceptional.

Everything about this property is exceptional. The Mountain View rooms, with their full glass windows and private patio seating, offer breathtaking views and beautifully curated interiors. The serene, secluded setting, away from the main town and that was exactly what I was looking for, surrounded only by the soothing sounds of nature and birdsong. Wi-Fi is not available, which was perfectly fine for me, as it added to the peaceful, unplugged experience. The staff were incredibly courteous, prompt, and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. A special mention to Mr. Inthizar, the owner and host, whose warmth, helpfulness, and genuine hospitality truly set this place apart. He went above and beyond, not only ensuring our stay was comfortable, but also helping with taxis, sharing local tips, and even guiding us during our trip after we had checked out. If I could, I’d give this place 11 out of 10 stars. Highly recommended for anyone seeking calm, scenic, and heartwarming hospitality away from city’s chaos.

It is a remote location (which is how you get the view and the peace), which was fine for us as we had a driver. But food is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner so it's not really a problem

The view from the Cloud resort is absolutely fantastic, just so beautiful. It's a really peaceful and calm place to stay. Every meal we had there was delicious, especially the breakfast. It really is a special place to be and we were so well looked after. The walk up to the rock to see the sunset was beautiful.

We were lucky enough to stay at The Cloud Resort as our first stop in Sri Lanka. This place is not just a hotel, it is an experience. Our favorite place to stay in Sri Lanka by far. We can't rate it highly enough. We stayed in the King's Cabin. The room is spacious and comfortable. The views are more amazing than the photos, and it was breathtaking to wake up in the morning to the nature and sunrise in the hanging bed. Even though there are multiple units on the property, it felt private and relaxing. What makes the stay truly the best was the staff who added a personal touch to the whole experience. Inthizar, the property manager, was out of town, so we were welcomed by his brother, Ahmed. Ahmed took us around the local area including a beautiful tea factory, grocery, and local spice shop (we love to cook). He also suggested beautiful and relaxing walks, shared some local history and their passion for supporting the local community, and truly went over and above anything we would have ever expected to help make our stay unforgettable. The rest of the staff was just as amazing. Amjaad, the service manager, was incredibly friendly, and no request was too small for him. Zulfi, the chef, crafted the best custom meals, taking into account our dietary preferences (vegan). The food was not just the best food we had throughout our trip in Sri Lanka, but some of the best we've had ever. Zulfi is a master, and the meals felt truly made with love using local ingredients and methods. If the Michelin guide was in Sri Lanka, it would feature this property! From the hearty welcome to fond farewell, everyone made this place special.

Very little to say really only that we would have appreciated additional water coming at mealtimes given the remoteness of the property meaning it’s not so easy to fetch yourself. Having said that this was swiftly provided upon request.

Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka. A perfect 2 nights at this amazing resort. We throughly enjoyed our time here. We came after a busy time with trips in Ella and it was the perfect place to relax with gorgeous views. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating to whatever we needed. The food was great and catered for my partners gluten free allergies which was really appreciated. The room is great, had a comfortable bed, a fridge, space to eat and deck chairs to use on the decking too to enjoy the view from outside. Whilst we preferred to relax in our room mostly give the short period we stayed here, there is also the option to do a number of complimentary trips to a spot for sunset, the nearby tea factory etc if you wish.

The owner of the hotel took care of us even before arrival, making sure we will arrive safe. The hotel itself has breathtaking views, you really feel like walking in clouds. The hotel team makes sure all you request are handled quickly and efficiently. The rooms are very spacious, and some of them have absolutely stunning viewing decks that allow you to enjoy the view while having dinner. The location of the hotel makes sure it is absolutely quiet, and you will be undisturbed, but you need the car/taxi to get there.

I had a perfect stay at The Clouds Resort Kadugannawa. The location offers a stunning view—absolutely breathtaking and peaceful. Every detail of the resort was just right, making it a truly relaxing experience. A special mention to Amjaad for his excellent service—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The owner was also very involved and genuinely cared about guest comfort, which made us feel well looked after. Great service, beautiful surroundings, and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommended!

No wi-fi

That was one of the most amazing and unordinary stay in my life. And working in a tourism I’ve been staying in many hotels all over the world. The view from the room is awe-inspiring. The air here is so clean, fresh, and filled with the scents of flowers and trees that you can't get enough of it. I was sitting on the balcony for several hours, unable to take my eyes off the views of the mountains around me. The room itself was very comfortable to stay in, excellent bed linen and pillows gave me a feeling of comfort while sleeping. The manager of the property Inthizar was very hospitable, showed us the entire territory of the hotel, told us the story of its creation, that many things in the interior were made by his father's hands. In the morning, he took us to the tea factory (which works here for more than 70 years already), where we had a fascinating tour of the tea production and tasting of various varieties of tea. Then he took us to the local market, where we bought fresh fruits. It was a pity to leave the hotel, one night is not enough to enjoy all the charm of living in THE CLOUDS BTW, The drive from the center of Kandy took us around 50 minutes, the navigator finds the location without any problems, the entrance is very convenient

The rooms are incredible. Amazing views created by these very uniquely designed structures! Food was delicious and very authentically Sri Lankan. The host, Inthizar, was so attentive and so helpful. Offered great flexibility and even took us on a tour of a local tea factory. Couldn’t have been nicer. Amazing value for money!

Our experience at this hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. From our room, we saw a double rainbow stretching across the sky—one of those rare, magical moments that made the already stunning view even more unforgettable. Every sunrise and sunset felt like a gift. What really made our stay so special, though, was the owner. When we had a medical situation, he personally took us to the hospital—no questions asked. Throughout our visit, he went above and beyond, even for the smallest things. He helped with genuine care, always doing his absolute best, and you could feel how sincere he was. The food was another highlight. It wasn’t fancy or over the top—it was just really good, honest cooking made with love. Every meal felt comforting, like something you'd hope for after a long day. This exceptional place blew up our minds. At the top of the hill, surrounded by tea plantation and magnificent nature. The bungalows are so spacious and comfortable. Big and comfortable bed. The view of the valley below and sunrise is spectacular. The smells and sounds of the nature keep you so calm with no need of anything else. Property manager Inthizar and his team makes sure you are taken care of properly. The food is excellent, both local and international dishes and you can choose to eat at the bungalow or the terrace. The hike through the plantation was amazing and a special treat. It is a bit away from Kandy, but worth by any means. When we left, just like amazinh host he is, Inthizar was checking on us if we were doing fine on the rest of our voyage and if we needed any assistance from his side. Definitely a place to visit again.

The location was private, quiet, and off the beaten path. The location is about 45min from Kandy. Staff were excellent. Inthizar was incredibly communicative, hospitable, and helpful. The views were spectacular and the room was spacious. Expect a more rustic type of accommodation. There's no wifi, tv, or alcohol on property. Breakfast was served in the room and included fresh fruits. The welcome iced tea was delicious. The chef can also prepare other meals but expect to pay $$ hotel pricing for meals that are not included in your booking.

Stunning view at a beautiful location; A cosy villa on a mountain side with amazing service and top quality fresh food served to the room! Our host was very kind to take us on a small hike to a stunning location to see the beautiful sunset over the mountains! The host was very accommodating for our early check out and made us feel very welcome. Please note the land is under development with improvements coming in the very near future. No WiFi or TV but it’s not needed with the stunning views. Tip: Food is a must to try! The chef is amazing. Expect some insects. Remote area, so bring everything you need and you will eat at the hotel for meals

Inthazar and his team are simply world class. My wife and I decided to stay at their beautiful resort for 2 nights and 3 days and what an incredible experience. Food was unbelievably good, service was fantastic and well, the views speak for themselves. This location was easily the most relaxed my husband and I were all trip and would recommend to anyone thats passing through Sri Lanka that wants to fully disconnect for a few days. There is literally fresh herbs and spices when youre walking to your room and all the rooms are fairly seperated so you feel like you own the place. I hope to come back in this life time with more of my family so they can experience this as well. World class establishment.

This was by far the best stay and experience in Sri Lanka, and could we go back in time we would stay at least a week! It’s one of those magical places where time stops, mind detaches and you don’t need anything else. The resort is in an incredible place, the views all around are just stunning, and waking up to this, opening your eyes in the morning and seeing a whole glazed wall overlooking the greenest valley whilst hearing birds sing and breathing the cleanest air… is simply priceless! The cabin is stylish, designed to modern standards and yet with a strong connection to the Sri Lankan nature and soul, spacious and clean. Service is impeccable, we were served breakfast and dinner in our room at the requested time (on the dot!), and staff was always around to help. Food was incredible, every breakfast and dinner was different and delicious, with the freshest ingredients, and we had the chance to try some local fruits/dishes/drinks we had never tried before! But to us it’s the people that make a place memorable and the Cloud Resort is no exception. Inthizar and his brother are incredible hosts, not only are they the kindest people, their professionalism, experience and knowledge shows in everything they do. From the moment we stepped out of the car we were treated like very special guests, Inthizar welcomed us personally together with other members of staff, and spent time to show us around the resort, explain all the different plants on the property, and tell us the story of how everything started. It is unbelievable to think that every little detail of this place was conceived and realised by Inthizar and his family, but it definitely shows because this place has a soul like no other. The same day we were taken for a walk through the tea plantations and to a rock with a breathtaking view at sunset where locals were launching kites, which was a simple and yet magical moment.

Photos hardly do this place justice, unlike other places in Sri Lanka i feel it exceeds what you think it would be.Cloud resort was 100% our favorite accommodation and location on our 2 week visit to Sri Lanka. It is the most beautiful location with breathtaking views, our room had a panoramic view of the valley, which we could see from our bed. Sunset and sundown, such a spoil. Our private butler brought meals to our room, we were treated like royalty. We only stayed 2 nights, we were on a tight schedule, but it is the kind of place you should stay a minimum of 5 nights. The mountain walks to whatch the sunset, the pinawala is super close , the old tea factory is amazing, and just finding peace for your soul. The rooms are incredible, every small detail was crafted and curated by the owners ( family), and is such a treat to discover all the attention to detail and thoughtful comforts. Our bed was a highlight, it was a swing suspended from the ceiling, we have never slept so well being gently rocked to dream land. Inthi was an an incredible host, gave us lots of privacy, but always there if we needed anything. He was super helpful with directions, excursions, and just general info and the history of Sri Lanka. I loved meeting him. Butttt all this said...... the food!!!!!! Oh my word is was blown away, up to this point of our travels the food never blew me away....... but I would definitely recommend having all your meals there. It was beautiful, fragrant, and delicious!!!!!!!!! One of our top stays we have ever been to by far. The Cloud Resort is a hidden gem in Kandy, offering breathtaking SUN RISE views from the chalets. Each morning of myb3 night stay I was greeted by stunning panoramas of misty mountains, making for a serene start to the day. The accommodations are beautifully designed, blending modern comforts with local charm, and the private terrace / deck was a perfect spot to feel the 1st rays of the sun.The food was a highlight, featuring a delicious variety of local and international dishes, with a particularly impressive breakfast spread. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring a wonderful experience. In summary, The Cloud Resort is a must-visit for those seeking tranquility, great food, and outstanding service. I left feeling rejuvenated. Highly recommended...!!!
