Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomProperty needs a few basic stuff to add on, like tea/coffee maker in rooms, hair dryer in wash rooms, indoor activities and high speed broadband coverage rooms far side etc.
It was a lovely place, my family had a peaceful couple of days, however my 11 year old kept complaining as not much activities apart from the pool. That pool was amazing, views are stunning and also nothing to complain about foods. Host Piyal and his wife were very friendly, and the staff was very attentive.

Amazing place located in the hills near Kandy. Views were amazing, room was very spacious. Terrace was a big plus! Pool is being built but in meantime you can use the pool from a place on the other side of the street (1 min walk). It has an amazing view! Great breakfast for picky kids Just know it is not close to restaurants or Kandy itself. But for us this was perfect! The food they have is also great!

BelgiumWe stayed at The Grove in Kandy for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The family who runs the place is incredibly kind and welcoming — they made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The room was beautiful, spacious, and very well maintained. Everything was spotless and taken care of with such attention to detail. The surroundings were peaceful and perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing in Kandy. Breakfast was a real highlight every morning — fresh, delicious, and served with a big smile. We especially appreciated the local dishes and homemade touches. If you're looking for a quiet, clean, and charming place to stay in Kandy with warm, genuine hospitality, The Grove is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

GermanyWiFi can be a bit slow at times, and reaching the property involves navigating a narrow, uphill road, which can be a bit challenging.
I had an exceptional stay at this gem, which offers breathtaking mountain views, a sparkling infinity pool, and peaceful garden terraces. Piyal and his warm family welcomed me with genuine hospitality that instantly felt like home. The breakfast was amazing! Unfortunately, I stayed only for one night and could not enjoy the facility, but the top-notch service and stunning scenery makes me defintely recommend this place.

We have stayed recently with Piyal and his family in the Grove. We had an amazing time. The location is beautiful a bit outside Kandy but it's quiet and the views are amazing. Piyal is an excellent host and makes you feel at home.He is very helpful if need anything. The food is amazing. Little swimming pool with view over the mountains. If you are looking for peaceful holidays it is the place to go.

Sri LankaWe had a wonderful stay at the grave! I stayed with my wife and two kids, and it was a truly memorable experience. The view was amazing, especially in the morning when we could see the beautiful sunrise. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially with the kids. The food was delicious, and the swimming pool was awesome – we had so much fun! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the whole place felt very relaxing. They also arranged transport for us when we were leaving, which was really helpful. Overall, we are very happy with the service and would definitely recommend the grave to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

United KingdomWe had two nights at the Grove and everything was perfect. We had the family room which was enormous with a beautiful shaded balcony overlooking the mountains. The breakfast was phenomenal- eggs and sausages, followed by platters of French toast and pancakes and finally a plate of fresh fruit. We ate their both evenings and the dinners were excellent. We especially loved the infinity pool which was perfect for a cool down and big enough to get a proper swim in after a hot walk or run.

IranOur stay at this hotel was nothing short of magical! Perched atop a stunning hill surrounded by a lush forest, the hotel offered breathtaking views in every direction. Our room had windows on three sides, allowing us to witness the mesmerizing dance of the clouds right beside us—it felt like living in a dream. What made our experience even more special was the hotel's exceptional management. The owner, a distinguished aerospace engineer, took care of us like a caring brother, ensuring every detail of our stay was perfect. The staff were incredibly polite, energetic, and kind, always ready to assist with a warm smile. Beyond the spectacular scenery and outstanding hospitality, we created some of the most beautiful family memories here. The tranquil atmosphere, combined with the warmth of the people, made this a truly unforgettable getaway. If you're looking for a place that offers both natural beauty and heartfelt hospitality, this hotel is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

IrelandSome people have pointed out that it is remote with a bad road. Agreed, however, it is exactly as advertised! It is 35 minutes from the centre of Kandy, navigable by car or Tuk Tuk- both readily organised for a fair price by Piyal. So, no issue then. Incidentally, it is much nearer to the Ambuluwawa Tower and Peradeniya Gardens than Kandy. We would happily recommend as the remoteness ensures tranquillity, a fab pool, and a great property/ host.
Piyal was a total gentleman. He was hospitable, informative, and efficient. He organised transport for us ( both during and onwards)made phone calls and booked the cultural show for us. I think he spoke better English than me!!! The Grove itself is beautiful. It had all the facilities required ( no refrigerator in room or kettle but filter water available on tap in the shared lounge and Tea/ coffee on request). It was spotlessly clean. Dinner was available via the hotel next door- it was brought over for you so you wouldn't really have noticed. Beer was also available. There was also a pool next door, a 3 minute walk. It has spectacular views- one of the highlights of the Grove.

IndiaThe location was not navigable, but we somehow managed to find our way through with the support of hotel management. The location is very cumbersome and way out of Kandy city area.
Very different kind of experience. Homely food, beautiful property, service warm and welcoming! Fantastic host. The facility is amazing. The only thing one needs is the desire for the best view near Kandy and to be with the "bestest" host!

PakistanIt is a little hard to get to but easily manageable with Google Maps and a competent driver.
This is a beautiful home tucked away in the hills. It is about 45 minutes from Kandy, but we wanted to be outside of the city so it was perfect for us. The views are just stunning, and you also have access to an infinity pool across the road, which we didn't use because it was a little chilly, but just sitting by the pool was amazing. The couple running the place is really sweet as is the staff.
