Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo true negatives. The only slight downside is the typical culture of people reserving sun loungers early in the morning, and disappearing for hours, which I really hate. There are signs asking guests not to do this, but its not policed, understandably as they aren't going to want to upset anyone. Even so, we actually always found sun loungers available, but whether this was purely because it was low season, I am not sure.
Riu Palace Maldives is a beautiful resort! Everything was perfect, I can't fault it. The staff were always so so friendly, nothing was too much bother for them. They took the time to learn our names, always smiling and saying hello. Having access to both of the resorts (Riu Palace & Riu Atoll) was great, because it gave you the choice to enjoy a more lively pool/ bar area, with activities, and more nightlife, or have a quieter, more relaxed time with less people. For what is a small island overall, there are a number of restaurants to choose from - the Japanese being our favourite. The buffets always had plenty of options, especially for fussy eaters like myself. The scenery, the marine life you see every day, the beach area was so beautiful and it was an amazing destination for our honeymoon! We stayed in an overwater villa - which had great amenities (sun loungers, outdoor bath, outdoor bed, steps to the ocean etc) great A/C, mini bar with optics etc.

MalaysiaI feel like the buggy service frequency could be increased more, at certain period we had to wait more than 15 mins for a ride. If your room is further away from the activity center, it can take some time to walk and it gets uncomfortable if it’s especially sunny.
I loved the room, it was spacious, clean, smelled fresh and everything was perfect. I also loved the all inclusive package, we were having fine dining for our dinners at the specialty restaurants, breakfast and lunch buffet were also spectacular, all items were fresh. We also attended two themed parties which were super fun!

United KingdomMaybe a little too much concrete.
The RIU palace in the Maldives is an excellent setup. The accommodation, the beach, the food and the bars, particularly the swim-up bar were quite extraordinary. We had a terrific time for the entire week from the snorkelling and walks along the beach to the evening cocktails and live music before dinner. Truly a marvellous experience!

United KingdomEntertainment was a little too relaxed in the evenings apart from white night where the tempo was raised a little, only criticism to be honest.

United KingdomI think the meals were just okay. Additionally, considering the price, there should be better standard of wines - or offer a premium package to pay for nicer wines, rather than charge $55 USD for a bottle

United KingdomThe only suggestion I have would be to serve proper cafetière ground coffee at breakfast rather than filter coffee.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel. The best part of our experience was the staff: cleaners, waiters/waitresses, maintenance staff, (the man with the slingshot!), reception staff, entertainment staff, chefs, buggy drivers (sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone)! It was so personal, delightful and the conversations with the staff didn’t feel at all forced- they were so genuine. The hotel was spotlessly clean- our room was cleaned to an exceptional standard everyday. Simple delights such as constant fresh towels and water available was amazing. The location is perfect and the food delicious. The palace was a perfect haven.

United Arab EmiratesThe communication before I even arrived was not good. I was chasing the hotel a few times and they caused confusion regarding the hotel transfer. I would recommend some customer service training for this. The transportation to and from the hotel. There was lots of waiting around and leaving very early. On my return journey my flight from Male we were picked up at 4.30am- my main flight was at 12.30pm midday. We spent 4 hours waiting in Male airport unnecessarily. I didn’t see why we needed to leave so early on a Monday morning. There was no food or drink provided for the journey (I am 8 months pregnant) Food variety. Very limited and the same menu recycled for lunch and dinner from the main buffet. For an all inclusive, I did expect better. Need more dairy free milk options other than Soya. Limited buggy carts to transport you to and from one side of the resort to the other. Again, wouldn’t be an issue normally but I’m heavily pregnant so found it frustrating standing waiting around.
Very friendly staff. This is my second stay here at the property. Entertainment was good.

United StatesTwo parts of the stay were suboptimal - the transfer and (for one of the days) the dive shop. This is what dropped the rating from a 10 to a 9. Scheduling the transfer felt like a bureaucratic process ... I requested a seaplane transfer 2-3 days before arrival but was told that I was too late (even though there was no specified deadline in any communications). We had to wait a long time during the transfers and wasted the entire last day. Also, we were not provided lounge access by the hotel transfer service on departure, even though the communications from the property implied we would. If you have a long wait, please make sure to ask the property proactively as there are no comfortable areas to wait prior to check-in (other than the lounges). The Dive shop was generally professionally run with excellent equipment (as one would expect from a 5-star PADI shop). The first day our guide was good and even agreed to take videos of us using our GoPro ... unfortunately he also lost my wife and she had to surface so he could find her. Unfortunately, the guide we got on the second day was very unfriendly ... when I pointed out that my tank only had 200 bar oxygen (as opposed to 230 on my wife's tank) he was very surly when I asked him to switch the tank out. At $200 for a 2-tank dive, the least one would want is for the tank to last the full 45 minutes! He also did not point anything out to us during the dive. As beginner divers with only 10 dives experience at that point, we expected the staff to be a little friendlier, more supportive, and not dismissive (almost to the point of gaslighting).
Overall, the property was excellent, and we enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel staff, especially in the bars and restaurants. We spent seven nights here, splitting our time between the Jr Suite (3 nights) with Beach Access and Overwater Suite (4 nights). Both room types had their charms, and I am glad we got to experience both. The Beach Access room was about 20-25 feet from the ocean. The beach was very calm and fun to swim in - there were a few small coral reefs close by, and we saw lots of colorful fishes. There were beach chairs under palapas near the water, but the occupants of the higher rooms with no beach access used to "reserve" these early in the morning (which was annoying because they were not using the chairs for 95% of the time they "reserved" them). The Overwater Suite was spectacular - we saw sharks, rays, turtles, and various schools of colorful fish right from the deck of our room! The room was almost identical to the beach access room, except for the deck over the water. We could take the stairs right into the ocean at all times and spend much of our time in the sea near our room. The housekeeping staff was excellent in this room. As vegetarians, we were able to find enough to eat ... the staff in the buffet accommodated our requests as much as they could (special shout out to sous-chef Vajra and maitre d Marshall). The restaurants varied a bit ... I'd recommend the Italian and the Asian fusion restaurants for vegetarians, but I would skip the Japanese restaurant.

New ZealandEverything was perfect
We came for our honeymoon, it was our first all inclusive experience and first time in the Maldives. We had the best time of our lives . The room was lovely and big. The beach was beautiful and the water was breathtaking. The food at the buffet restaurant was delicious and so many options. The alcohol was nice and strong and got to try some yummy cocktails. The buggy service was great especially in the heat. All the staff were amazing and kind.. Special mention to Aminda, Singhe and James who were always happy to see us and made us feel special every time. We didn't bring any cash so when we couldn't get cash on property to tip these amazing people we felt so gutted. We really appreciate all they did for us so please let them know. We hope to be back soon.

SingaporeThe sea sports center is in the Atoll side, and if you are staying over at the Palace, it can be a long walk. They should have another sea sports center for those resides in the Palace side.
The restaurants at the Riu are good, but need to make prior reservations 2 days in advance. The Italian restaurant in Riu Atoll is a disappointment, Seafood Cassoulet Polenta's shrimps are not fresh.
