We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

New ZealandRoom towels and beach towels poor quality (non-absorbent and thin). Room decor and fittings more basic than I expected for such a beautiful resort (and the price). Terrible curtains (pink & white??)! A little more effort to properly furnish the room/bathroom would make a big difference to the overall experience.
Superb location in very private cove only accessible by boat. Pristine beach and water. Nice snorkeling right in front of resort. Breakfast and dinner included. Very attentive barman (named Jay). Nice walks both sides of the resort - one direction to local village (40min) and onto a waterfall with swimming hole (40min); the other direction to another resort. Both worth the time and effort. Nightly shark feeding is a must. Good WiFi. Very easy to arrange boat transfers or diving/snorkeling trips.

United KingdomMostly, the accomodation was of a high standard. We stayed in the beach front villa. The shower rooms, kitchen area and back bedroom (with bunkbeds) could benefit from updating and refreshing. However, the two front bedrooms, veranda and bonus garden area were great! There is also private access to the beach from this vill!
A truly peaceful, remote and idyllic getaway. Wonderful connection with nature, beach is very accessible and clean. Fantastic, friendly and accomodating staff. Can only access by speedboat- very cool! Would return again.

To find such calm, serenity and kindness on this beautiful island has resulted in this being truly our best holiday together ever. We arrived at Genting off the ferry from Mersing and we were immediately welcomed by Minang Cove t shirted staff. Awang & Pijal who whisked us off to their boat whilst scouping up our heavy luggage! We arrived in the rain but that didn't cloud the pretty first sight of Minang Cove Resort. Welcomed by Sofia (her English is so good I challenge you to guess where she comes from) at their Jetty and were taken for a welcome drink and explanation of the simplicity our lives will experience for the next week! Minang Cove Resort is the best place to stay on this beautiful island. The scenery is stunning, the cove is protected and allows you to swim safely, certainly no need for a pool. The room we stayed in (8) was private, clean and spacious with the most stunning sea views. Our large balcony gave us the opportunity to savour our time here. We had tea & coffee making facilities and asked for milk to be stored in our fridge, which was no problem. The air con was perfect allowing us to cool down after our beach time. The bathroom was spacious and had everything we needed. The breakfast most mornings was a buffet with the offer of cooked breakfast, pancakes & omlettes. Fresh coffee/tea on offer and fruit or toast to finish. All quite delicious and served with a smile from Nora. When there was just us and one other couple they served breakfast at our tables, a nice touch. We took advantage of lunch on a few occasions, which was truly delicious... Very generous portions! Highly recommend the spicy chicken noodles👌. We did have a portion of chips one day! The clean, efficient bar was run by Jay who looked after us with his own cocktails, beers, fresh water and gins. Ana was always on hand to help and guided us through walks to the waterfall, a local village and a fantastic boat trip around the island with Awang and Pijal.

MalaysiaThe rooms were a bit dated, but they were nevertheless comfortable and clean with a balcony and seating to enjoy the gorgeous view of the water!
The staff created a very friendly and inviting atmosphere where there was a sense of community among the visitors. The resort was the only one on this small beach that had access to coral that boasted sharks, turtles, rays, octopus, squid and a variety of fish!

New ZealandNothing much except it would be nice to have clearer signage leaving property grounds to village. We missed our turn off returning back to resort and did an unnecessary uphill climb 😖😂
Boutique sized, private, good snorkelling, crystal clear waters, walking proximity to an original fishing village and lovely waterfall. Although there were only 6 guests including us when we were there because many has left, the food standard was very good. We loved that they served local malaysian cuisine plus the resort has good mobile reception today.

United KingdomContacting them by phone was impossible. They respond to booking.com messages but sometimes thats an hour later. Also the pier is very unsafe for kids, multiple broken wood panels which my son scratched his leg on quite badly, and the sides of the pier are all open so very easy for kids to fall off. You have to be very vigilant with kids. Some minor issues are getting in and out of the location by foot is also very difficult. The paths in and out are just mud tracks, with no signage. Food options were very limited for dinner. Breakfast was good though.
Location was amazing, Beautiful little cove, very clean, very quiet with lots of marine life just off the beach. Plenty of tours available direct from the hotel at very good value (compared to neighbouring hotels). Free snorkels were provided and flippers were only around £5 for the whole duration of the booking. Staff were helpful and friendly.

AustraliaOnly that our stay was not long enough, we wished we could stay longer, it was so relaxing 😍
Nestled in lush tropical greenery with a postcard-perfect beach, Minang Cove Resort on Tioman Island is a true paradise getaway. The reef off the beach, despite global coral bleaching, still has areas of colour and is teeming with marine life including parrot fish, clownfish (nemos), timid black tip reef sharks, and turtles passing through, and offers snorkelers an unforgettable experience. As a second-generation family owner, Sofia infuses Minang Cove with a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere for singles, couples, and families alike. Her strong connections with staff, locals, and the island community are evident. We loved gathering around the pool table, staff and guests' beach volleyball competition, and being able to explore the island on boat shuttles and snorkelling trips. The chef, who Sophia grew up with, serves fantastic food with nightly menu changes - the dinners are amazing and tasty! There are great breakfast options, and the lunch menu offers Malay, Asian, and Western fare, along with a delightful afternoon tea. Sarge (being an Aussie, this was my nickname for Sazal, pronounced Sargal) is a warm, friendly, and wonderful barman who mixes awesome cocktails. The service is exemplary, from Ahwang's great attention to detail to the diligent maintenance of the beautiful gardens and facilities. Any issues are fixed quickly with a smile, like when I mentioned a funny fridge noise and had a replacement in my room within 15 minutes. The 30-40 minute walks to the traditional fishing village and waterfall were well worth the trek - this is paradise! Thank you Sofia, and all the wonderful staff for a perfect holiday on Tioman. We look forward to returning to this island gem!

SwitzerlandIf the weather is good, the hotel has a shortage of sunbeds! It might be an idea, to have some sunbeds also directly at the villas. The rest is great!
The team is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has WiFi now at the restaurant! The location is beautiful, unfortunately the visibility at the reef was not good during our stay, but the glimpses we got were promising. The dinner is a set course, so you do not have too much choices. But it is well cooked and a sustainable option to reduce food waste. With children it might be, that they need a backup! ;-) Make sure you do not miss the afternoon tea! The staff is very helpful in the organization of the trip. They helped us to make individual transfers to and from the resort. Keep in mind, that the sea might be rough though...

MalaysiaThe food a bit international, and boring. To much premaid, juice, bread, fruit. Rather serve fresh made local stuff. Make fresh juice and use your wonderful local fruit instead of boring apples and oranges. The fish and hot dish very fine but a little more care about taste ( salt, spice) .Actually the cafe in Mukut served cheap and very nice food , juices. So the food was the only thing that I was disappointed about. It is not a cheap stay and I have had so much nice and simple and good tasting food during 10 visits to Malaysia in 4O years, unfortunately the food is going global, and that is a shame.
Location, villa, atmosphere, cozy outdoor restaurant and beach area. It is paradise on Earth, do not make it more luxurious, keep it relaxed and “simple” as a superb alternative to all the big resorts with international glamour. Arriving to Tioman with the tiny airplane from Subang KL and the speed boat transfer just gave a perfect start. Nice jungle walking to the waterfall and local fishing village with good local food. The staff top. Pro but relaxed and friendly, took the initiative to daily beach-volley and pool activities that connected the guests in a kind of friendly family atmosphere, we actually did say good morning and talked a little.

United StatesFrom a walking/hiking perspective, besides Mukut and Asah, you can't really go anywhere else. But that's not really on the resort but more on the infrastructure of Tioman Island. However, the isolation of this area of the island makes it feel very private and relaxing to me as I prompts me to get away from the distractions of technology and work, and just focus on my holiday and doing things on my own time.
I wanted a mix of privacy and outdoor activities, and this place lived up to those expectations. You didn't have to go far for snorkeling as the cove had a plethora of corals and marine life to check out. I spotted blacktip sharks (they're harmless), sting rays, and se turtles while swimming around the cove. The hike to the small fishing town of Mukut and Asah Waterfalls were a little challenging with the heat and humidity, but it was worth it to see how the locals lived and take a dip in the Waterfall pool. The staff were very friendly and accommodating! Tony, Sophia, and Daniel were good hosts, and the rest of the staff were just awesome and made my stay comfortable and relaxing. The included breakfast and dinners were great, but the 4:30pm tea time and after dinner fish-feeding activities were something to experience.

AustraliaFantastic location and setting, large area of coral to snorkel off the beach. We saw turtles, harmless reef sharks, rays, and a wide range of fish and coral species. We were with our 1 year old, and the staff were very friendly to her. Thanks to the crew. The dinners in the evenings were really quite good, and breakfasts and lunches (lunches extra) were simpler but also fine. From the resort, we walked one day to Kampung Mukut, which is a nice little village about 45 minutes away. On the walk we saw a colugo! We also walked the other way through an abandoned resort (quite cool) to another nearby resort, which is not at all as nice as Minang Cove. Transfers to the resort were easy, even for us coming from Juara.
