Nothing major, just the key card scanner wasn’t very responsive, so it sometimes took a few tries to open the door.

Stayed 6 nights here. Easy self check-in, comfortable room, and a quiet location just 10 minutes from the riverfront. Clean, well-managed, with a shared kitchen for cooking and drinking water. Great value for the price — had everything I needed and good privacy.

Windows are not soundproof, so you can hear all the noises coming from the street, especially motorbikes passing by during night time, which made it difficult to fall asleep. The bathroom is very small and when you shower, the floor and surroundings get wet.

Easy self check in, room was small but had everything we needed, bed was comfortable. If you don’t have too high expectations, then it’s definitely good value for money.

Very nice place, very nice room and localisation is also great - all interesting pieces in Kuching within a walking distance. Very good communication with the owner, we were fully informed about check in, check out, and asked several times if everything is OK. Also price was very reasonable. Definitely this place is worth recommending - if we come back to Kuching one day, we will choose The Cottage Stay.

We were not allowed to keep our bags in the hotel when we had a late flight at 9pm, had to pay half the price to keep the room just to have a place to have our bags.

May have been renovating when we were there, the place looked unfinished. Kitchen was non-existant, no forks, no fridge nothing to cook on. There was a sink that wasnt plummed in so there was no where to wash tea/coffee cups. No real common area just a small corridor where a kitchen could be. Shared bathroom dirty and the walls between rooms are very thin, a few guests were very loud around 3am in the morning.

Room was big enough, location pretty quiet and close to some food options although around 10-15 minutes walk to the bridge/main part of town. There is a nice lake nearby, with a good running walking track around it.

What was really annoying it is AC after start. Room has thin outside wall and when compressor just started working, it's resonate a lot of low frequency noise that head was going mad. Maybe we were so unlucky and it was only with our AC, but it was. Fortunately it stopping after 20 minutes when room getting cold enough it AC decrease RPM of compressor.

General, it's the best offer for this price with such location. We were prepared that it's not so comfy as we used to, but diffidently is relevant for this price. Bed and wi-fi was good, room was clean with full set of towels. Also here you can use common kitchen with fridge, kettle and microwave oven.

I booked a room with a queen bed and a window (as in the 1st pic), thinking that's what Ill get but instead I was told that I got a windowless room. I immediately wrote to the property and explained that I had a strong reason why I booked a window room and the host (I think) changed the booking which was nice to be reassured. I didn't get heads-up that the button combo for opening the gate can't be used. The first thing you arrive is find your key box and then push your arm through the grid, do the digit combination and then open both the grided gate and then later your room door with the contact card. The room had just a concrete floor and the bedsheets and pillow cases were made from a cheap colored material so it's quite hard to tell whether it's clean or not. There was a heavy whiff of humidity and dampness in the room. It smelled like a straw. The aircon was there and the bed was spacious. The toilet didnt flush well and got stuck the morning we were leaving. And the sink looked dirty/moldy and the toothbrush holder looked unwashed and dingy. I hate writing such reviews but I couldn't completely relax. In the morning, at around 8 or 8.30 we got startled by a drilling noise that was literally drilling through our heads. I believe that won't be the problem always but it did add to our unsatisfied experience. It was affordable and close to the center but not the kind of place Id book to get some rest. But then again, Im a hard audience.
