Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MalaysiaRoad to the guesthouse could be dangerous at night without street lights.
Stunning sunrise seaview from our stay! The room is simple and nice. Drinking water provided and fridge are shared with other guests. Toast and jam and some local cake for breakfast. We took a snorkeling tour with boat to the coral restoration site just in front of our guesthouse. It is so nice that the dive guide took pictures and video of us underwater with GoPro.

ItalySo far this has been the best homestay where we have been staying in Sabah. We booked for one night and ended up staying almost a week. The location is stunning, the rooms are facing a pristine ocean. We swam more than once to the reef right in front of the place. Owner and family are very friendly and they are doing so much to preserve the reef. If you have a chance make them a donation on their found, their planting corals and doing a great job. Breakfast is included and you can have coffee, tea and water all day. They also rent scooter, snorkel and fins and cook lunch and dinner for you if you want to. In this secluded place you'll find all what you need!

United KingdomRubbish on the beach was devastating but the same all around Malaysia.
Incredible location, the sea right infront of the accommodation and had the beach to ourselves. Junaidi the owner couldn't do enough for you, including arranging transport back to KK and a half day trip around some even more beautiful quiet spots. 3 days of relaxation and calm in a remote little village where everyone was very friendly. Food was incredible, lunch and dinner cooked by Junaidi's sister and she kindly catered for my allergy with no fuss at all. If you want quiet with not much to do but Snorkel from the front of the accommodation, read and walk on the beach then this is for you. If you want WiFi and great signal and lots going on then this place is not for you.

SlovakiaNothing to mention. The beach is not crystal clear so you can expect some plastics on the shore and so, but this is common issue all around Malaysia places we were.
Very good place in front of the see in small village near to town of Kudat. Very helpful stuff. Host as well as all others. Also very tasty food like lunch and dinner provided (for extra money) The owner Jumaidi was always helpful. He is very friendly. He also helped us to arrange transport to Kinabalu park and he also solved our issue with next hop accommodation we had. I can only recommend if you prefer the homestays on the places like this instead of hotel or luxury residence.

United KingdomI wish we had stayed for two days or more so we could do the full day tour to the Long House & hire mopeds!
We had a lovely time in Tajau Laut. Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious. They organised us a half day tour to Kelambu Beach, the Secret Beach Cafe and the Tip of Borneo. They even organised our a taxi and our bus journey from Kudat to Sepilok, something which we couldn’t do online.

MalaysiaSandyyy.. Well, of course. 😂😂😂 and no heater for shower.
The view was 10000 / 10. Literally beside an ocean. Luckily, we stayed overnight and get to experience heavy storm coming from the sea. It was scary but very safe , for sure.

A refreshing experience staying in a stilted beach house. Looking out is a picturesque scene of vast expand of sky, ocean, sea waves and fishing boats. An interlude that brings peace and reflections.

United KingdomStunning beach location and outdoor balcony overlooking the sea . Great food. Beaches stretching for miles. Room and facilities are basic but spacious and kept very clean. Amazing staff and the owner is very accommodating. There is a Moped available to hire here, a major selling point as its quite a remote location.. maybe 25 minutes to kudat and there's loads to visit nearby.

MalaysiaEn Junaidy was more than accommodating as we wanted to learn more about the guesthouse and the community rural eco tourism initiative done by the village. Food was amazing, we glad we chose the village meal cooked for us by the family instead of going out to the town to eat. Sleeping with the waves and waking up to the sunrise by the sea was both mesmerizing and healing!

MalaysiaThe location, while offering a serene escape, can be a bit challenging to find initially, almost tucked away from the hustle and bustle of civilization. Once located, it unveils a cluster of houses nearby, offering a sense of community within this tranquil setting. For those seeking a serene getaway, the secluded atmosphere and the proximity to other houses provide a unique charm, fostering a feeling of immersion in a local community. However, it's good to come prepared for the tranquility that sometimes includes the sounds of nature.
Our stay at Tajau Laut was nothing short of spectacular. Situated right by the beach, our rooms offered breathtaking views of the sea, creating a serene and calming atmosphere throughout our stay. What truly made our experience exceptional was the unparalleled hospitality of the owner. Upon our request, the owner graciously accommodated us, allowing our entire family to stay together in one house, ensuring our time together was both comfortable and memorable. Moreover, their thoughtful gesture of providing freshly homemade local breakfast added a delightful touch to our mornings, allowing us to savor authentic flavors while admiring the picturesque seascape. The proximity to the beach and the sea-facing rooms amplified the tranquility of our stay, offering a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation that's hard to find elsewhere. Tajau Laut exceeded our expectations in every aspect, from its idyllic location to the warm hospitality extended by the owner. If you seek a tranquil retreat with breathtaking views and heartfelt hospitality, look no further than Tajau Laut!

Czech RepublicGarbage on the beach, but that's the problem of sea pollution.
Beautiful snorkeling, nice trips organized by Mr. Udon. His younger sister is an excellent cook and the meals were always different. Walks on the beach are nice, nice shells everywhere. The people in the village are very kind. There is peace and quiet.

NetherlandsThe plce is realy bare minimum with regard to room/bed/shower/toilet ....but that is the real beauty of this place !!!! You get a bit of a Robison Crusoe feeling if you're sitting by yourself on the porch looking over the sea...loved it. Place is also very hard to find, follow the instructions of the owner and NOT Google maps otherwise you will get lost in the bushes..
Big major plus about this place is its location, you are just right at the sea. In the morning with high tide the sea is sniffling on the poles where the place is build upon. The other big asset is the quietness.. other than the sound of the waves at high tide and no sound at low tide you only hear some neighbourhood kid playing on the beach when its there..Also depending of course how much noise your fellow travelers are making. The guy who is owning (?)/managing the place is great. He's a former dive instructor and is willing to take you to sea for snorkeling and an occasional dive, but you have to ask him.

United KingdomThe blanket was small for two people (was only a single). The free breakfast was a few pastries. The samosa were good but personally the others weren't for me.
The family who run this place are really nice and friendly. Facilities as stated are basic but its well priced, free filtered water, comfy bed, pillow and clean. Nice seating area to watch the sunset and morning coffee with a sea view. The 15rm dinner was nice as its whatever the family are having. Cold showers - fine for a night or two especially with it being so hot. Fan, which is better than nothing. Wifi was good too. Lovely quiet area too.

United KingdomWe liked everything
We stayed here for 5 wonderful days, what an amazing location. The rooms overlook the sea - in fact, the sea comes under the lodge at night and you go to sleep listening to the gentle waves. It is picture perfect. Each morning you can watch the sunrise from the balcony - it is quite simply stunning. Breakfast was different and delicious every day, we had fried things and fried rice, fresh donuts and other bakery items, nasi lemak and often toast as well. The meals on offer for other times are always freshly cooked and most delicious. The family were very kind to share with us some food on occasion, it was always delicious, they were very kind and welcoming. Udey - the host, can organise a taxi to and from wherever you need at a good price. We caught this taxi to the bus station, with Udeys' brother and father - a lovely and inspirational family. Udeys' brother learnt his English (which was really very good) from watching English movies - namely the BFG. They are part of a family of 10 siblings. There is a couple of small shops in the village which sell toiletries, noodles, biscuits, drinks and bread. The snorkelling is fabulous - you will need to ask Udey where to go - he and his family have been involved in the coral regeneration programs, right infront of the chalet is not good (although we did come across a couple of beautiful starfish) but over to the left and right - a short walk along the beach and the corals are beautiful and plenty of fish. We really enjoyed our 5 days of peace and relaxation, we will definately come again and stay longer next time. Accomodation is simple, rustic but lovely, comfortable bed, simple but adequate and clean bathroom with shower. There is a small kitchen area, with water dispenser, toaster, kettle, tea and coffee. There is rubbish on the beaches although there is a long term clean up plan. To be fair, pretty much everywhere we have travelled including the Maldives has a similar problem these days
