Loved everything, the bungalow is magical and the stuff is great. They take care in the best way of you in this remote piece of paradise. Definitely worth the journey to reach. At least 3 night is optimal. A big thanks to Romeo and his staff

Take your water-shoes on for snorkling, because of the sharp corals.

Hé lieverd, zou jij deze op tripadvisor en of booking willen zetten? Unspoiled Paradise – A Perfect End to Our Trip! ★★★★★ After a few amazing weeks exploring beautiful Borneo, we chose to end our journey with a few days on Pulau Banggi, staying at Tammoya Place — and what a great decision that was! The ferry ride to the island is already a fun and scenic experience. From the port, Tammoya arranges a transfer to the resort — a bit of an adventurous ride, but absolutely worth it for the views and the experience. We were genuinely surprised by how untouched the island felt. It’s quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning nature. The huts are simple but comfortable, and there’s a lovely central area to relax and enjoy your meals. Romeo and his team are incredibly warm and welcoming. They serve delicious home-cooked lunches and dinners every day — truly great value for money. The highlight of our stay was without a doubt the snorkeling excursion. We visited three different spots, each more beautiful than the last — like swimming in a real-life Finding Nemo movie! 🐟🐠🎏🪸 All in all, Tammoya Place offers an unforgettable experience on a peaceful, unspoiled part of Borneo. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something authentic and off the beaten track. Jacqueline & Peter

Really friendly, hard working and down to earth family who want to make your stay as good as possible. The location is amazing and you can truly disconnect if you'd like. You can also find a balance and enjoy being in the middle of nowhere by the sea yet have wifi to still call your family or do some work. It's the best balance. The cabins are right on the beach so we spent most of our time chilling outside on the beds watching the sea, listening to music and sometimes cooling off by going for a quick dip. It's like a little disconnected paradise.

    Nothing!

What a wonderfull place, remotely located on an island far away from other tourists. I wish i could give more stars because the host Romeo was so kind and really puts a lot of effort in his own small community. He really deserves to have plenty of visitors. The huts were masterfully crafted artworks, and the kitchen area and other huts were given plenty of attention with nice small decorations. The food was also very tasty and curated to our needs (veggie) and time. We asked some tips for snorkling and told us he could bring us to the reefs with his boat, where we spotted very nice views (plenty of nemo fishes!). He can also take you to a cave or other places. There is no internet there, but did the booking the day itself and it was no problem when we arrived there on our own! We asked a local guy at the ferry to bring us, which took a bit over an hour. The way back was done by Romeo himself. Wish we knew what a paradise this was upfront so we could stay longer in this serene place. Defintely recommended when you visit Sabbah.

We had an amazing stay for a week at Tammoyo Place with Romeo and Mesah from the time Romeo picked us up from the jetty to the time he dropped us back. We had a cabin and an open hut. The kids were nervous about sleeping out but they loved it once they tried it. We should have booked 2 open huts. I'm sure there is plenty to do on Pulau Banggi for the more intrepid traveller but we did pretty much nothing except swim, draw, paint, read, and relax. And star gazing. And the complete e-learning for the PADI open water course. The place is absolutely serene. Mesah is a phenomenal cook and we had amazing food everyday; crab, slipper lobster, chicken, prawns, squid, fresh fruits and delicious vegetables. We went for the full board option and were stuffed full every time. We saw wild bearded pigs rooting for crabs on the beach. Phenomenal sunsets every night that lasted about an hour and a half as the sun set of Pulau Balambangan. No WiFi and no phone connection, Romeo let us hotspot for some liasing with our driver on the mainland. It was great to be disconnected from everything. If you need a connection Romeo was on Celcom so get that for a SIM card. No sun loungers or sofas, you have your bed and there are picnic tables. You could bring a hammock. Animals; a few dogs running about the place, they were not interested in being petted so didn't make themselves a nuisance. But they kept the wild pigs away. Apparently there are crocodiles in the deeper water but we didn't see any. Bats at night. Insects; very few mosquitos being right on the water but it is sand underfoot everywhere so expect sand fly bites. Though they weren't as bad as we've had elsewhere and they went down quickly. We did want for anything but for a few soft drinks and when we asked for them Romeo picked them up on the next shopping trip. And a fan which Romeo set up. We were brilliantly well looked after. Tammoyo place is a little slice of heaven.

just as a notice: the ocean can be very loud at night and the bed is not too comfortable either. You can’t do much on your own so you are mostly dependent on Romeos services.

Tammoyo Place is not just a nice accommodation but also a unique experience. Don’t expect any luxury here but you will get a feeling of freedom and serenity hard to find anywhere else. It’s a long journey to get there but it’s worth to see for a couple of days. Especially the snorkelling experience was one of a kind. Romeo tries everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible for you.

    That we had to leave.

This is the perfect place to unwind, relax and escape from the world. You're staying right on the beach with the most epic sunsets you can watch from your bed in a chalet and just fall asleep to the waves. Literally some of the best nights sleep we had in a long time. Romeo the owner was so kind and welcoming, he made us feel safe and provided wonderful service while we were there. The breakfast and dinner were both so good, cheap seafood and some of the best we've had in Asia! (been travelling for 4 years) Prices are really good too for what you get. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone who likes the quiet beach life away from everything.

There is no wifi and almost no reception for mobile internet, we didn't mind at all but keep this in mind when you book this amazing place.

This place is amazing! The owners do everything to make you feel at home, nothing is to much. The owner organized a snorkeling trip, he showed us the most beautiful spots. We saw turtles and the coral was so beautiful. The food was delicious, I recommend it to vegetarians.👌 The owners did so much for us, we just can not explain how much! We became totally zen and enjoyed being away from al the stress. Thank you for this amazing experience!!!

One thing you should know is that the price for the meal is same whether you ask for less dish or not. Just think that as a service charge for preparing the meal for you.

Romeo from Tammoyo is a very kind and friendly person. He took so much care of me which is very thoughtful. I was treated very well. It is such a nice place to take a rest because there is no internet only the sea and you. I spent 3days there reading a book and swimming. The food is super delicious. Better than m ost restaurants in Malaysia. Normally there are 2 main dish, 1 vegetable dish, rice, fruit and juice. Near 20rm. And seafood is also quite cheap here. You should try lobsters. If you ask Romeo what you want to eat he will manage it for you. He will give you a pick-up service from the ferry terminal to the guest house which is 30rm for round trip. Dogs are so nice and clever that they never climb on the table or the chalet. And the sunset is so beautiful.

Its perfect now. Visit before everyone else finds out about it.

I never make time for reviews but this place deserves it. I booked 1 night, stayed 3, wish I could live there...Amazing location, beautiful quiet beach (and ok with beach campfires), massive portions of delicious homemade food at super reasonable price (easily accommodated vegetarian but would love to serve you fresh seafood), comfy and safe place (solo female traveller here and felt 100% comfortable at all times), many activities depending on your wishes. One of the best snorkelling locations I've ever seen (Belize has nothing compared to Banggi island!!). Best of all, I felt treated as a guest/friend rather than a source of cash. Host Romeo really went out of his way to make me happy. Cannot say enough good things....just go for yourself and you will be amazed

No wifi but that was part of the charm. owner working on getting wifi so that may soon change. Owner can drive to spot on island for signal I’m sure if you ask if you need to check in.

Right on the beach. Super quiet. Had the entire Long Beach to myself. stayed in beach hut and while simple was very enjoyable. the are tarps to drop down if you want to enclose but I just left it open. Owner brought me a nice mattress, pillows and blanket to sleep with. Meals generous and made with love. Attentive owner. Boat trip up the nearby river was nice. constant sweeping efforts keeps grounds looking really nice. Ferries in either direction to/from Banggi twice/day. Contact owner at phone listed and he’ll meet you at the ferry for transport.

The same Problem with me. One day before arriving the sent me a text message they are still not open. I should ask for a refund. The worstest thing is, Booking.com know about the Problem and they are not going to do anything. I just checked it out, if i would like to stay at this place tomorrow, NO Problem !!!!!!! The next thing is, Booking.com, even i sent them sure already 15 messages, they tell me all the time the same sh..., we can do nothing after i checked out. This is a case for the police and this Is really a SHAME for Booking. Up to now no money refund, but i will get back my money for sure even i have to contact the CEO of Booking and so on. Please never book this place it will save you money.

We booked the resort 1month in advance. When we contacted the host about how to get to the island from Kudat he responed 1day later, that he is closed and that we can‘t come. We were lucky, that we didn‘t just go there without contacting the host as it is a 3hour journey from Kudat and no other accomodation near by. When we told the host to give us the refund of our money he said he will but never did. He only answered twice on our messages, all the others he ignored and also our calls were ignored! We had to contact booking.com. After several calls they finally said we are getting the full refund. As we had to find a new accomodation within one day it was quite stressful! hopefully it shows up on booking.com that the place is closed now!

I payed money, I received confirmation of my booking and just one day before check in I received by WhatsApp this: "Hello, I'm very sorry friend. We are still close.. renovations work...." (see attached screenshots) Booking com support is catastrophic since the host doesn't reply to them. So I did nothing wrong. All formal prerequisites and confirmation etc. made, payment included and now what, 90Eur still with the host, booking.com customer service can do nothing and it is me who must chase the host. Is it normal? If you'd like to know more about the story you can approach me by email on surina.marek@gmail.com

Nothing. Host canceled the accommodation with the following (just one day before check-in): "Hello, I'm very sorry friend. We are still close.. renovations work...." SO simply he didn't updated Information on booking.com and he allowed us to book, to pay, to reserve, and formal conflation we also received.

Looked great online with reviews. Was so excited to stay, however not only is it on a different island to Kudat (that is not stipulated any where) so a 1.5hr ferry’s ride then a 2hr car journey
