It was very noisy on a Saturday night, the place has very thin walls. I mentioned this to the staff and they weren't helpful. There was no oven (despite one being pictured), so all of my oven food that I'd bought to cover me for the bank holiday weekend had to go in the bin. Also no oil or salt/pepper or anything super basic like that for cooking. It was difficult to find the room after dark. I emailed ahead twice to ask about walking in the dark from the train station, and recieved no response. The phone number on booking also does not work. There was nothing to dry your hands in the bathroom.

Waking up to nature and the farm animals was amazing. It's like a fairytale norwegian house. The location is great, as is the the history of the building. It's very clean and tidy.

A connection with the village is just not there. You have to walk your way to the premises, which could be fine (if it is not raining) if one did not have to cross some main roads without crossing lanes. I understand such a matter is not in the hands of the hostel, but still: if you travel with elderly people or children, think twice about it. If you are the sporty/hiker type, then it's absolutely fine

There were no basic ingredients to cook (olive oil, salt, pepper). The room is very small and the small window has no curtain.

The location of the accommodation is close to the train and the ferry stations and you don't need to go to the reception to get the keys of your room which is very convenient. The shared living room is nice and the kitchen is convenient. Towels and bed linen are included in the price.

Not unexpected given the price but some things to keep in mind - Sparse room with (in my case) slopping roof so not possible to fully stand up. As others have mentioned, sound carries so bring ear plugs. A second pillow would be nice and hooks in the bedroom (there were none) and more in the bathroom (there was one).

Very clean, communal kitchen, beautiful setting in the mountains beside a sheep farm. Easy check in/check out.

The shower did not get very hot. Last minute I was moved to a different building in town vs the 15 minute walk to the main hostel. This was great for me, but many guests likely wouldn’t have internet/ability to communicate. Would have been nice to have known the day before.

The foot traffic inside the red building can be noisy as some people don't remove their shoes and are extremely noisy when they walk (the partition walls are kind of thin as this is an old building).

Place is far enough away from the centre to avoid traffic (it's on a farm with cow and sheep!), but close enough so you can go to the shop/bar/diner etc. on foot. Red building I was in had a charming room with a mountain view, small but convenient. Large and functional kitchen and dining area.

Be aware that walls are thin and you'll be at the mercy of your neighbors. Also, we narrowly missed not getting towels, as an employee just happened to show up when we were there (about to leave on a hike). Not sure how you get them otherwise.

Towels charged separately was quite an unusual surprise, they’re not expensive but I would expect it to be included in the price of the room. Could be more clean, ran out paper in the upstairs bathroom.

The staff not allow me even to use toilet in the main lobby hall and kitchen area after I checked out and come to take luggage. Very unreasonable request. Every hostel or hotel would allow customer to have a drink, rest or go to toilet after they check out. This hostel is abnormal in the whole world.

There was no toilet paper in the upstairs bathroom, no paper towels in any of thre dispensers. It was strange to never see a staff person the entire time I was there. The staircase was incredibly steep, almost like a ladder.

Easy to access my room, the room was comfortable although small. Very nice bedding and linens. The bathrooms are very clean. Nice living area and kitchen.

If you have a lot of luggage then it’s very difficult to lift that up if your room is upstairs as there is no electrical elevator.

House was very noisy, and you could hear the floors creaking as guests tiptoed around in the morning. Felt nickle and dimed by being charged to use a towel. It would be helpful to have access a washer and dryer. Management also was awful. Talked to Alexa about trying to change my departure day- and she literally said “I cannot help you with a partial refund for the day you are leaving early. My manager could potentially make a different decision, but he won’t. So I’m not going to ask him, and I won’t give you his name either.”

Room was adequate. Walking distance from city center. Kitchen is well stocked with supplies.

Due to the age of the house there is a problem of an old very creaky staircase. Every time someone goes up the staircase it wakes up everyone in the house. There is almost no sound insulation between the rooms.

Good location and very few nearby alternatives in a similar price range. Possibility to store luggage before check-in.
