Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe first room overlooking street was a little tired and very noisey, though we were there on a weekend. Luckily they were able to move us to a quieter room that was much better. The location is very good close to old Bergen houses, close to Mt floyen also folk revore bar.

NetherlandsThe elevator doesn’t reach the top floor. For us that was okay - travelling light - but you may want to check this beforehand.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast could be a little better. There weren't as may selections as we found in other Norwegian hotels. Especially for the price you pay for the hotel, they could take up the quality and variety a notch.
The hotel location and the historic building it's in are amazing. Our room couldn't have been more "Hanseatic" with high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and creaky old floors. The staff were helpful and friendly

Fantastic location. Right in the centre of Bergen close to everywhere you need to be, the fish market, the floibanen and bryggen are only a couple minutes walk away. The rooms are lovely, staff very friendly and helpful.

CanadaPerhaps we are still adjusting to overall high prices in Scandinavia, but it seems we paid a considerable amount for what was a very average room. There is a fine line between 'character' and 'dinginess' in European hotels at a certain price point. Our room had a bit of old-world 'charm' but mostly it was very small, not particularly easy to maneouvre around and not super-clean. Would probably stay here again but would also do more research on comparable alternatives in the area.
Cannot image a better location than this one, just steps from the harbour, shops, tours and restaurants. Check-in experience was good when we arrived early at the property; the room wasn't ready but we were able to store our large suitcases while we waited. The included breakfast was awesome!

AustraliaThe carpet in the general areas looked like it was as old as the hotel. Some assistance when we arrived to locate our room, and get our bags up to it, particularly the final rickety staircase.
Very well located near the centre of town. Building had an old structure that at first pass was difficult to work out. But bathroom itself was excellent and room of a good size. The hotel was run by 3 brothers who were friendly and approachable.

United States of AmericaFront of building (museum) under construction. Bathroom contained gigantic winch wheel used to haul imported grain up to loft. Apparently it was too big to remove without destroying building/ or Norwegian idea of rustic.
Best location in city. Near wharf, fish market, tour bus stop. museums and funicular to mountain viewpoint. Interesting use of old grain warehouse converted to hotel. Had great breakfast included. Emphasis on fish for grain trade with Germans which formed the basis for Bergen's success.

United States of AmericaThe recommend removing the carpeting in the rooms. It’s a damp city and just retains a bit of a funky smell. The bar and restaurant are dimly lit. Not really inviting outside of breakfast time. Would be awesome if they offered some deal on parking nearby.
Can’t beat the location for Bergen and the staff are really nice. The breakfast is very generous and tasty. Love the Costa coffee machine which can make real Americano. Some rooms have proper bathtubs.
