Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Denmark4 bed dorm can be a bit narrow. Dirty toilet. The terrace is amazing but could use a couple more decent chairs and tables with umbrellas.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Cheap price that includes breakfast. They offer a free walk in the morning to learn about the traditional rituals. The location is great, right at Durbar square. Breakfast is ok

CanadaI had the dorm room to myself, but I imagine it would be a bit cramped if it was full with 4 people. However, this is reflected in the cheap price. If you want luxury and lots of space you should pay for such.
Navin and his family are amazing hosts and this homestay has great value for the price. Navin is dedicated to sharing his authentic Bhaktapur experience with his guests. In the morning he invited me to join him on his Saturday routine - sharing his spirituality, knowledge of the city, and lovely energy along the way. We ended up spending 6 hours together walking around, paying respects at the temples, and joining for Kirtan at ISKCON. I didn't feel obligated or pressured to join, but I'm very happy I did! Such a great experience that I wouldn't have had without him! The location is fantastic and the rooftop has an amazing view! Meals were good, home made, and reasonably priced!

This is a house of a local family, so it’s a best way to stay here and get the most of local life. I spent a whole week here for the Nepali new year and had several Newari dinner meals with the host’s family (include a new year feast). I learned to properly eat with my hand. And I appreciate they changed the food every day a bit when I said I like to try more kinds of local food. The rooptop is the best place to have a full view of the Dubar Square and valley, I really enjoyed to stay up there every morning and night, so peaceful and chill. During the festival, the host provided all the infos about when and where to see the celebrations and even show me around, tell stories about Bhaktapur and the festival. It’s the place I would like to come back one day.

Staying here really gives you a taste of what life is like in Bhaktapur. Navin is the best host I’ve ever had, he showed me round the city, took us to cafes and bars, and even took me to a family celebration. Joining him on a morning temple walk was an amazing experience. He puts a lot of energy into giving his guests the best experience and is very passionate about what he does. The room was also very comfortable, and the location couldn’t be better.

United StatesIf you come to Bhaktapur and want experience the local life of Nepales, Navin's place must be your best choice. He is so hospitality and the whole story is totally out of my expectation. We do the morning prayer, walking around in alleys and squares, riding the scooter to Namobudda and watching the sunsets. Navin arranged a perfect two days trip for me. No hurry but full of variety. Just wanna say, These two days are my best time in Nepal.

IsraelI stayed here for one night, and it was a fantastic experience! The place is clean, well-maintained, and in a great location in Bhaktapur. But the best part was the host – kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. He took the time to explain things, show me around, and give great local tips. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and pleasant stay!

I am a single solo woman traveller and Navin was so entousiastic that I stayed at his homestay. It is a nice family who make you feel so welcome in their house. I would like to experience the Nepalese way of life, and I did. I went with him on his morning prayers, ate the same as the family, went to see the Kathmandu Valley by scooter (everybody drives like They are crazy, but I felt very safe with Navin. And the best part is that he takes his guests to festiviteit/parties, also of his family. So I was invited to the celebration of his 6 months old nephew, who ate his First Rice. It was a party with more than 200 persons, eating and dancing. And They all liked it that I was there too, so nice. So blessed to experience this. Thank you Navin and your family, for these wonderful experience 😊

FranceLook no further...you've found the best place to stay in Baktapur!! Navin is the greatest host that I've met in Nepal. Even though the building might seems a bit tatty at first sight, the room is super clean and comfy. With clean bedsheets and clean bathroom as well. You will meet a bunch of smiley people in that building and cute kids going to school. I also had the best breakfast in Nepal, simple but delicious. I am a woman travelling on my own and I felt perfectly safe there. The view from the rooftop is just incredible and the location in Baktapur can't be better! You're just one minute from Durbar square. Navin is also a trekking guide if you want to hike in the valleys around Baktapur's area. He can also give you a tour in this beautiful town. That's the kind of homestay I HIGHLY recommend!! Hope to be back there very soon.

GermanySuch a great visit at Laxmi Homestay. The owner is open minded, warm, friendly and sensitive. He will provide a city walk to show you his culture and the cities myths and he knows all the hidden places of Bhaktapur. You will stay in clean guest rooms and you may be invited to have food and tea in the family´s kitchen or on the rooftop. It is simple, don´t expect luxury, it is not a hotel. But with such a dedicated owner you will get the cultural nepal experience that you are looking for.

PolandNo complaints, it's a great place!
I loved my stay at Laxmi and would go back there again! The location is great- it's 2 min walk from Durbar Square with a great rooftop view and right next to different cafes and restaurants. The room was comfortable, clean and modern. The highlight was Navin- the owner. He's very keen on sharing his culture, he showed me different temples around the city, told many interesting stories and shared information about Nepal and Newari culture. If you want to have breakfast at the hotel, it's tasty and a big portion.

BrazilGreat experience in Bhaktapur. The host is very hospitable and willing to help with any needs. The view of Durbar Square from the terrace is beautiful. There is water available in the corridors to refill bottles, and the beds are comfortable. The place might seem a bit intimidating at first, as it's on the second floor of a bar, but the stay is worth it. I also recommend staying overnight in Bhaktapur rather than just doing a day trip.

By far the highlight of my travels, to say the host, Navin, goes above and beyond for his guests is an understatement. Great for solo travellers, we visited during Nepali new year and Navin showed all the guests around the city, brought us to his family feasts and was above all else great company to be around, you have to stay here when visiting Bhaktapur!

TaiwanThis homestay is located a few meters away from Durbar Square, and you get a great view of it from the rooftop. It's not a hotel; there are people actually living in the other rooms. The host, Navin, is a very nice guy who really loves what he does, and he will introduce you to his family. If you want, his mom can prepare you traditional Newari meals, and he can also be your personal tour guide, taking you to know the city and the vicinities; he showed me places I would have totally missed if I were on my own. During my stay, I was basically his buddy, met his friends, etc. Overall, the only thing I regret is not being able to stay longer; Navin is the best host ever and he made my time in Bhaktapur so interesting and meaningful.

GermanyI guess it's normal for Bakhtapur that people are ringing bells on the street which woke me up a bit early but at the same time motivated me to have an early walk around the town and to experience the morning life of Bakhtapur. Just be aware of this.
Very good location as it is right next to Durbar Square. Bed was super comfy. The owner Navin invited me on Yamoris as it was the national day of Yamoris that day. He also offered me complimentary lunch on the rooftop and gave a lot of information about Nepali traditions and what to do around in the area. You can have a really good view off the rooftop
