Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceThe place is great, if somewhat remote, and the view from the top of the hill is beautiful. Follow Sylvia's detailed instructions to get there and you will have a splendid stay, just like I had.

A normal help yourself breakfast. The place was nearly in the middle of nowhere - and grapes were all around the valley. Very nice.

United KingdomWell secured Wifi connection was a tiny bit tricky to get in our room but easy to obtain in the corridor. This is a totally rural experience so not too unexpected that Wifi connection was not immediate.
Hill Top Retreat was stunning in terms of rural panoramic views, pristine and stylish accommodation plus relaxation. The nearby Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Blenheim was an exceptional museum and we enjoyed the ambience of Blenheim - very relaxed with a Marlborough wine festival taking place which was low key but fun.

United KingdomAbsolutely gorgeous location with views over the valley, very comfortable bed and impeccably clean room and bathroom. The room feels very private despite being part of the family home and the private bathroom is just across the hallway. The little outdoor sitting area (with amazing views) just outside the room adds a lot by creating another space you have to yourself as a guest. The hosts were very welcoming and there were two friendly dogs excited for any pets they could get.

GermanyThis is mostly due to the location but the extreme wind led to some noise events in one night.
The host was very friendly and helpful. The location and view are absolutely stunning. Perfectly clean and a great comfy bed. Great place to stargaze.

CanadaThe only thing I wish it had was a door in the hallway to separate the section where the guest accommodation is away from the rest of the house.
This was a perfect location. It’s nestled up in the hills away from anything with absolutely stunning views of the countryside and open sky for miles. The night sky up here is glorious. The room is fantastic. Really well appointed with lots of space. It comes with a small dining table and a very comfortable bed. It has ample storage with a big closet. And all the amenities - including a fridge. It also has a very nice big private bathroom. The owner told us we could use the kitchen in the main house for anything we needed - which is super handy. The owner is very helpful and provided us with a lot of information on the area. We were gutted to only stay one night here. We would’ve loved to stay longer.

CanadaRoom was on the small side but had a lovely outdoor patio. It didn’t have much for kitchen facilities in itself but the hosts were more than accommodating about using their kitchen and they were seldom home so we didn’t feel like we were infringing.
The views and setting were spectacular . The room was immaculate and very tastefully decorated.

The superb 360 degree views, the utter peace and quiet at night, the comfortable bed, the friendly welcome of the hosts, their kindness in sharing their kitchen with us (important if you don’t want to eat out every day - there are limited facilities in the room), the impressive shower room, the overall good value for money. There are places to stay closer to the vineyards of Marlborough, but none I suspect as special as Hill Top Retreat.
