Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

EcuadorWe used the tent, which had mattresses in it. However, we were a bit surprised there were no cushions or sheets. We had to rent them as an extra.
The experience of staying on an actual beach ecosystem. We encountered a lot of curious crabs. The hostel's location is right at the both sides of the island: the ocean side and the laguna side with tranquil waters perfect for swimming. We rented a kayak to explore the mangroves. The food is elaborate and very delicious!

GermanyNothing to complain. All was great 👍🏻
We arrived by boat (Jean Pierre picked us up) and it was an amazing experience. They have a large property and different huts- for eating, living lodges and two showers. I loved our hut, the showers and toilet hut, they are all natural, made of coconut materials, from palm trees and leaves, coconut shells, with attention to details. You get water and electricity from sunlight, you get a very special experience of calm, close to nature stay, relaxing.🤩 Irina is an amazing cook, I highly recommend to take lunch and dinners, you will get great fresh cooked food, healthy and nutritious. With touch of European cuisine and all local ingredients. Also jams and lemonade from own grown fruits 🫶 The best part was of course the turtle - we were lucky and even at the end of turtle egg season we saw at night a big turtle (species verde) laying eggs. Jean Pierre is an amazing guide, he explains how turtles lay eggs, how the orient themselves, details of behavior and how we can preserve them. The turtle nest nursery on the hostel territory has nests and we witness two days in a row birth of baby turtles and released them. 🐢👌🙏🏻 We are so thankful that Jean-Pierre and Irina let us join the process fully. Not only watching, but digging, picking eggs and baby turtles. After this experience I feel that I was 100% part of it. This is fantastic experience 👏🏻 thank you! During the day we were swimming oder kayaking through the mangroves.

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like.
The highlight of our trip to Panama, it's like heaven on earth. Jean Pierre and Irina are wonderful people and everything was perfect. We didn't want to leave. We were lucky to see both laying and hatching turtles with Jean Pierre, and the lagoon was bioluminescent during our stay.

GermanyNothing for poeple that like luxury, but If you like the simple life and nature it's the place to go.
A stay at Pachamama ist a great experience. Located in the middle of Isla Cañas it is surrounded by two water fronts with a wonderful beach and lots of coconut trees. Jean-Pierre and Irina are wonderful hosts, so that you feel welcome at any point. They put lots of effort building up the place with little Palm tree houses as accomodation. But the tent is a great budget option. Facilities are simple but clean and everything you need. Really enjoyed my stay and would come back any time!

GermanyThe remote location can be challenging to reach and requires a bit of patience -- but that's part of what makes the Pachamama hostel special! The amenities are simple and in the same time charming, so expect little and you'll have a pleasant surprised :)
The location is amazing if you're looking for a quiet time, walking on an almost empty beach, swimming undisturbed in the ocean, watching the sun rise up from the water, having a drink at the sunset, gazing at the stars at night, listening to the waves, enjoying great food... The hosts Pierre and Irina are great at making the stay as smooth and enjoyable as possible for all guests, and they make everyone feel welcome in this little corner or paradise :)

GermanyWe caught a pretty windy night that you really feel within you cabaña. It’s quite a trip to get there but JP is glad to pick you up with the private boat Taxi what we would really recommend to get there. Be aware that there is only limited power during the daytime (solar power) and you need to take care of your mobile data since there is no WiFi. But that could be something you really want at that place.
It was the perfect location to disconnect. It feels like an abundant island to connect with the nature. If you want to stay alone at the beach and enjoy yourself, that’s the perfect place. The owners are very warm, welcoming and care about everyone that comes around. It’s a place where simplicity overrules comfort but in a good way. Our cabaña was clean and isolated from the rest to fully enjoy been kind of isolated. Something to point out is that you pre-booked dinner will be served and enjoyed together with the other residence. The offered meals aren’t too costly and delicious. They serve cold Atlas Beer in the Color of Panama and France 👍

CuraçaoFantastic location. Amazing elevated hut with comfy bed, right on the beach. You can see and hear the Pacific from your bed. Your own hammocks underneath the hut. Surrounded by hundreds of palmtrees, and only the sound of birds and the ocean. Irina and Jean Pierre are wonderful hosts. The great communication and help to get there, the pick up (by boat!), all went perfect because of them. I felt really welcome. Irina is a master chef if you ask me. She prepares the most fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner you can imagine. Definitely worth the extra money! I love going to places that are a little out of the ordinairy and Pachamama is definitely one of the best I've been to so far. From the community area, till the outdoorshowers. The unique toilethut with its own palm lane... Higly recommended!!

GermanyWay overpriced The hut we stayed in was basic with bats hanging above the bed that shat on the moscito net right above our faces and with cockroaches on the table and bed - the owners say it's natural - if you tell them about your worries that they may transfer diseases you might get insulted and called "too soft to live in the nature". If you don't want to walk 2km by the beach, they charge you 16$ to get you by boat - to put this into perspective: a person working in a laundry in Panama gets payed 2,80$ per hour. If two groups arrive at the same time each is charged 16$. There is only one toilet - so you are asked to pee in the woods. He says you should save energy, as it is all solar-powered yet he has a giant fridge and a diesel electric generator. To use the fridge you pay extra. You are not allowed to drink your own drinks. People who cook for themselves are not welcome. They are asked to collect their trash in an individual plastic bag and take it home with them. So if you don't take the overpriced boat service you can carry this bag for 1 hour with you. At the place where you are supposed to leave it we saw children burning trash. If you don't want to carry the trash with you, you are charged 2$ per day extra. If you don't agree with that, you get friendly words, then angry whatsapp messages and finally the trash bag thrown at you (literally onto your body). They offer breakfast for 5$ and dinner for 12$ The meals are very simple like toast with eggs for breakfast. Not as good as in the village but 3 to 4 times as expensive. Beer is twice as expensive as in the village. By boat the place is really easy to reach and they also have motorcycles and quads to reach the village in 5 minutes, yet they exploit that you don't get around as easily without them. You are asked to pay a deposit before you come, via PayPal or Western Union and so you pay all the fees by yourself instead of them to Booking.
The island is beautiful and the village has nice people, bars, restaurants, minimarkets, public boat going through the mangroves... And we even saw the bioluminescence in the ocean one night.
