Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

HungaryOur stay in Raiatea was unforgettable, and a big part of that was thanks to our host and his wonderful Mom, Nui-Nui ❤️ From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and care that immediately made us feel at home. The experience truly special was our hosts’ personality and their deep connection to the local culture. They were not only incredibly helpful and kind but also eager to share stories, traditions, and insights about life in Raiatea that we would have never discovered on our own. We especially appreciated how naturally they brought the local way of life into our stay—whether it was offering fresh fruit from their garden, recommending family-run events with real Polynesian soul, or simply taking the time to explain cultural customs with pride and love. It was clear they didn’t just run a place to stay—they opened a window into their world. We left Raiatea with full hearts and a deeper appreciation for the island, its people, and its traditions—all thanks to the spirit and generosity of our host.

IrelandEverything was great, however the fridge was too small and could be replaced by a new one. French Polynesia is very expensive, homework is required to include all activities on the islands you wish to engage in.
I spent a magical few weeks at Fare Vahine Oviri in December 2024. The host (Johnny) and his wonderful parents (Nuie Nuie and Claude) immersed me in French Polynesian culture which has left a strong and lasting impression on me. The self contained facilities in the villa were very good. The villa is situated at the water's edge. It was so easy to engage in snorkelling and swimming. I was even invited to partake in a community group canoeing practice session which was memorable. The villa is situated approximately 13km from the centre of the town, in a quiet location near the botanical gardens. There are lots of additional activities available which can be arranged or advise sought by Johnny. Can't wait to return.

United StatesThe stairs to the upper level where the bedroom is located are very steep. This is not a place for someone who has any significant mobility issues. But my knee had been bothering me for a few days, and I was able to handle it.
The location was away from the main town, but still easily accessible by car. It was a nice quiet area along a bay with kayaks for use. The hosts are lovely people and invited me to lunch Saturday afternoon in their home with them and several French and Tahitian friends. I also went to church and a local market with the spry elderly mom on Sunday. This is a great place to stay if you want to get to know people who live here.

We recently had an unforgettable stay at John's bungalow in Raiatea, French Polynesia, and we cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, John and his family took exceptional care of us, making our honeymoon truly special. The bungalow itself is a charming, traditional structure with a fantastic terrace that offers stunning views of the ocean. Every morning, we woke up to breathtaking vistas and the soothing sounds of the sea, which made our stay incredibly relaxing. John's hospitality was outstanding. He ensured we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. His mother was especially sweet, going above and beyond by giving us thoughtful gifts to celebrate our honeymoon. Overall, our experience at this bungalow was perfect. The combination of warm hospitality, beautiful accommodation, and the serene location made it a memorable trip. We are already looking forward to our next visit and hope to meet John and his family again in the future!

Isle of ManThe stairs up to the bedroom could be difficult for the elderly or disabled.
Incredible location with a deck right by the water’s edge. Perfect for sunrises. We ate at home every night so the kitchen is well equipped. The owner Johnny is very contactable, offers great local advice, does tours of the island (which we did and enjoyed) and he’s just a really nice guy. Would deffo stay here again.

French PolynesiaThere are a few mosquitos around but there is a net over the bed and ring your anti-mosquito spray
Such a cute little ‘chalet’ in an amazing location, right on the water with a gorgeous Motu a short kayak away and the gorgeous ‘Amazon’ river kayak half an hour in the other direction.

Our stay was great. The cabin is located in a quiet part of the island on the edge of a beautiful bay that you can swim, snorkel and kayak in. Johnny was also a great host and was very accommodating, driving us to get dinner each night and also bringing us to the market on the way from the airport. Johnny's mum was also lovely.

Loved our experiences at Fare Vahine Oviri - from the awesome welcome from Johnny and family, the 4 hour tour of the island with Johnny (the pilgrimage to Taputapuatea being the absolute highlight), snorkeling in the lagoon and even a meal with the family. The Fare is comfortable and well provisioned for self-catering. This delightful place is one of the best kept secrets in the whole Pacific.

We had a beautiful stay at Fare Vahine Oviri with Johnny and his parents. Va'a and kayaks are availables and you have a private access to the lagoon. You also have a wooden patio with palm trees, chairs, table and deckchairs. Special thanks to Nunu and her kindness with our little boy :)

AustraliaFrench Polynesian hospitality at its finest. We were a party of 4 and Johnny and his family went above and beyond to make us feel at home at Fare Vahine Oviri. Quaint little lodge with spectacular views, stunning sunsets, snorkeling, paddle boarding, canoeing and more. They made it all very easy to experience Raiatea the way it should be experienced…. with the locals. If you are lucky enough to meet Mama nunu, she’ll brighten up your day with her infectious smile and story telling. Only downside were the mosquitos, so don’t forget your insect repellent. 😊

United StatesTo stay here, you definetely cannot be scared of dogs. They have a few guards dogs that take a day or two to learn that you are not an intruder. The place is hard to find. This can be easily fixed by just providing GPS coordinates. The listing seems to indicate that airport transportation is free, but it is actually not.
The host is great, along with the gifts. We wish we had more time here. The place is a nice small beach cottage. Very simple, bare-bones accomodation.
