We booked this room with main criteria: air conditioner as we needed to escape the heat. What was the disappointment when air con didn’t work and showed f5 error. Seems like it’s an ongoing issue as someone mentioned it in a previous review but owners don’t want to do anything with that. Luckily, it was cold enough to open the balcony, but we were eaten by mosquitoes. Poor cleaning quality, bedding was with a couple of black hair in it, red spots on bed sheet, only one little set of toiletries for two people is not enough. Hope owners will pay closer attention to their service level and fix it.

Beautiful ocean view, spacious room. We escaped the heat and this place was a great decision as temperature was much lower. Beautiful ocean beach nearby, cafes and supermarkets with a short drive.

These are small feedback points, overall it was really good. It would be nice if there was an opportunity for guests to make coffee in the kitchen, and to get some more complimentary teabags in the room, as there was just one. We had our own so we were fine, but it would be a nice small thing. The furniture is good quality overall, however on the first night we felt the metal springs of the mattress, so it could use a proper foam topper. However we did contact the host and they put something on it for the rest of the nights, so thanks for the responsiveness and the help!

Everything was very clean, and the view is spectacular. It’s even possible to watch the sunset from the large balcony. It’s a quiet, calming location close to lovely beaches and many nice restaurants just a short car ride away. The breakfast is good value and varies a bit in what you get each day.

Casa das Barcas is a modern property with good facilities. The views are amazing, set on a quiet road above the beaches.

The location is not exactly beachfront as described. There are no restaurants or bathroom facilities at the beach. There are more cliffs in the area. Beautiful view, nice to walk the beach but not suitable for spending the day. Nice for a drive through the area and a one night stay. Very far from all attractions and taxi to get anywhere is difficult to get and expensive.

For us the only negative note is related to the inattention of the cleaning lady who threw two pairs of my wife's shoes in the garbage and the owner Mrs. Vera refused to refund or share a price for her employee's distraction.  Don't put anything important in the baskets you find in the room because in this house they are used as trash cans.

A very charming place to stay and spend some beautiful moments of relaxation, immersed in the morning clouds constantly beaten by the wind, and with an incredible panorama that can be seen from the terrace.  Good breakfast made with attention by Mrs. Rosalia.  Convenient and close to typical restaurants, it allows you to go on foot or with a short drive to enjoy the local specialties.  All the beaches around are beautiful, especially the one under the house of Praia Branca.

That is type of accommodation, where house is rebuilt for the hotel. So you don't have this feeling of privacy, and you hear pretty everything what is happening on your floor. And we had 3 more rooms on our floor. But luckily we were not during the high season, so we almost didn't have any issues with this. The place for breakfast is great, but the breakfast itself was weak. It was bread + another bread, jam, butter few slice of cheese and ham. Pack of yogurt. The lady who served super warm and welcoming. She allow us to have our own food there besides the hotel breakfast, so we managed to do more complete meal. But one more time, the place is amazing.

The hostess was very friendly, she met us at the reception and showed us to our room. She answered all our questions and gave us good advice on where to go and what to see. The room itself was not big but clean and cosy, with a big terrace with sea view. The breakfast was served in the canteen on the upper floor with huge glass windows with a spectacular view of the ocean.

The original room shown, was what we expected from booking. The room we were given had the following issues: 1) Balcony fully overlooked and into room by the neighboring one. 2) Bed would have benefitted from 2 pillows each not one and a cushion. 3) Spare pillow in wardrobe was very moldy. 4) Door lock really difficult to use as needed to ensure key was in middle of lock to use (not so easy in the dark). 5) Table was broken underneath. 6) Receipts from previous people left in table drawer. 7) Only one tea bag and sugar, no coffee, 2 cups but only one glass. 8) Had to screw in the bedside table bulbs to get them to work 9) Bathroom - hairs round the shower - shower curtain moldy at the bottom - mirror corroded and old - above mirror light corroded - below mirror, shelf on a slant so everything falls off - needs repairing / replacing

The Staff were excellent, polite and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the shower hot.

No cleaning of the room, no exchange of sheets or towels in 5 days. Same for the bathroom bin which is beyond me in this country. When pointing out the lack of cleaning, the owner started to argue with me, ignoring what I said. People don’t seem to care whether guests feel comfortable or not, as long as we pay. I could not detect an interest in feedback or genuine culture of hospitality. It’s actually a poorly run hostel that comes under the title and disguise of a hotel. First night I woke up due to the party the owner plus family were having on their next door balcony, celebrating the time of their life’s. If you’re looking for quiet and private space, look elsewhere. Slamming of the metal front gate by staff and guests plus the house‘s thin walls won’t meet your needs. Breakfast (not included) comes with no options but cheapest choices and instant coffee. Also not always and only for some: while I was told that „I should help myself“ on Sunday since the staff has their day off and the owner must pick up her partner from the airport, I entered the „dining“ area and found another guest having been served breakfast. It seems to me that they deem their house so wonderful due to the view, that guests should feel thankful for being allowed to stay and not expect any further amenities or services. Highly disappointing.
