Accommodations were at a very central location and easy to get around. The room was also clean and tidy! We had a good rest whenever we returned back from a day out. Even though it was right in the middle of the walking streets, the noise didn't get to us while we were sleeping. We enjoyed our stay here :)

Two aspects which were a little confusing and concerning initially but actually no problem in the end: 1) I was just given one entry code for the front door so I wasn't sure how to get into my room. It turned out it was the same code for the front door and my room. That made me a little concerned about security and another guest I bumped into said he also found it a bit strange but I believe we are all given different codes for the entry so it is secure :) (I'm used to having one entry code for the front door which all guests have, and then a different one for my room). 2) Also, after arriving, I received a whatsapp from the owner asking to transfer payment for the room. This alarmed me initially as I have never experienced this before as the fee has either been taken directly by booking.com or paid in person at reception, and with all the scams out there, it pays to be alert. Also it was not so convenient to receive this whilst out and about exploring Funchal but I later checked messages from Booking.com and found out this was indeed the way to pay for this property so I felt reassured and made the payment using my payment card as requested. As per above, these didn't prove to be problematic in the end, just a few moments of concern! I thought I'd share this to save you these concerns:) I loved the building, my room and the location so definitely try it !

A very attractive building, right in the centre of Funchal, on a pretty square, near the cathedral. Excellent location. My room was really lovely too, a corner room on the top floor with windows on two sides and a small balcony to step out onto. It was a Deluxe room (top right corner on the photo). I loved the views from the room across the square and towards the cathedral etc. and up the side street towards the mountains. Nicely decorated room, very fresh feel and spotlessly clean. Felt very safe as a woman travelling solo. Note: there is no reception as such, it's a keycode to get in through the front door and into your room. Also no breakfast. This was not a problem for me but wanted to let others know.

There's nothing that I don't like about being here. It can be a little noisy at night, especially Friday and Saturday nights because of the location in the centre of town, but the noise doesn't usually go on until the early hours.

I have stayed at Edificio Charles many times because I love the location. The nicely decorated room is a very good size for 1 or 2 people. It is always clean, has enough towels supplied, and a kettle and fridge in the room. Everything is close to hand, with a short walk to the sea front, port, bars and a good choice of restaurants.

The room was large, comfortable and clean, with a small balcony overlooking a lovely little street. The staff was nice and accomodating to my request to store my luggage for a few hours after checkout. The location is in the very centre.

There were times when wifi wasn't working (short periods of time) It wasn't an issue for me, but bear in mind it is located in the very centre of the town, so the area is not quiet - if you're a light sleeper it might bother you

The location is central, close to all the buses, shops and the coast. The room is modern, very clean (was cleaned every few days), has a fridge and basic cutlery. It was perfect for my stay in Funchal

The property itself was in a fantastic location. Very central and close to all amenities, good restaurants and local attractions. That being said, at night it is very quiet. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and the bedding and linen of good quality. There was also a lift which was helpful with my luggage.

There's nothing to dislike about the room.

This was my second stay here and it didn't disappoint. Central location and close to all the amenities. It has a fridge and an iron available to use, also tea and coffee making facilities. It is self catering, and is close to a good selection of restaurants and the large Pingo Doce supermarket is a short walk away to get milk and anything else that you might need.

Not well designed, feels cramped, nowhere to put your luggage, the internet is subpar, the water pressure is inadequate, the water temperature of the shower is really hard to get right, mattress is firm but not in a good way. Not good value.
