Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these areas, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Our stop during the Camino de Santiago was wonderful. The place was very clean, comfortable, and had almost everything we needed. The owner kindly gave us great restaurant recommendations nearby. Highly recommended for fellow pilgrims!

Beds creaks a big

Nothing would gladly stay here again
It is a fantastic place to stay. Check-in was easy, followed by a little tour of the place. Best showers if you're on the camino. Laundrette, supermarket & bakery close by. They do provide an outside sink for washing your clothes aswell as an outside drying area. Be prepared to make friends with the cat , who hangs about the outside courtyard enjoying the sun. She is beautiful.

Lots of amenities and host was extremely helpful. Able to do washing in outside sink, with drying racks. Public showers were very private, so nothing to worry about. Nice kitchen, with coffee machine and pods available to $, cheap.

Unclear what was included as far as snacks or breakfast; information provided about how to use the pack forwarding services was incomplete/misleading. (but it’s really up to me to figure it out I think).
Lovely private room; very nice outdoor space & laundry capabilities. Well equipped kitchen.

Amazing modern but also very cozy house. I had a great stay there on my Camino de Santiago, the owner Luís was a really nice and welcoming man that put a lot of effort so you can have everything you may need there. Highly recommended 👌

Relatively thin walls, not a big deal.
15 minutes walk to beach, the host is super nice, everything in hostel has a system that has been thoroughly thought off, everything was working, really clean and well equipped kitchen. Parking on private property.

A little off the beaten path but nice to see something different. Good restaurants nearby.
Loved the footbath and the clothesline. Owner was very accommodating. Beds were comfy. Nice kitchen.

Everything was fantastic!
It was the most cleanest hostel I’ve ever been to! Kitchen is very well equiped, you can easily cook there. Staff is always around. Super nice and helpful. In the back there is nice outside area to chill out. Close to the beach. Fão is very peaceful and calm place, perfect to relax. I wasn’t doing Camino but there were many pilgrims there during my stay. Everything was organizer this way so they could really relax after long day.

The beds in the mix dormitory rooms were quite uncomfortable
The hostel was warm and welcoming and the toilets and bathrooms were extremely clean and tidy. There were washing and cooking facilities and it was in a very central location. Perfect to stop along the Camino way.

The private room was across from the kitchen. The room was fantastic- unfortunately other guests were disrespectful of noise expectations.

The bathroom’s washbasin was too small and water was coming out. Also the shower curtain could be exchanged for a cleaner one. Apart from that all was perfect!
It is a very nice, clean and well equipped hostel in the center of Fao, on the Camino track. We’ve stayed in a room with private bathroom but even shared rooms and bathrooms look clean and decent. The kitchen was greatly equipped, we could even buy coffee capsules for the machine!
