Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We were the only people staying the first night. So the restaurant was closed at night and the breakfast was limited and disappointing. The following morning was much better.

United StatesThe facility is in desperate need of some renovations and love. It was apparently built in the 1950's or 60's, and it shows. The air conditioning was inefficient. It took 24 hours to finally cool the room to an acceptable maybe 24° C., while the thermostat was set at 16°. Luckily, the first night was extremely windy, so we slept with the balcony door open for a while. The hair dryer is an ugly, clunky box with a hose reminiscent of that on a vacuum cleaner, and was repaired with tape. Given the nightly rate and the name Pestana with a reputation to uphold, I thought it extremely disappointing.
The location inside the walled city was unbeatable, easy walk to shops and restaurants. The views from this pousada are amazingly beautiful. The staff could not be nicer, helpful, friendly, and dedicated to pleasing the guests. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo, nice vanity, toilet, and bidet.

CanadaThe location and the view from the balcony room was fantastic. Staying within the old walled city was a treat as we got to experience walking about in the quiet evening. The view was fabulous. I found the room to be smaller than expected and the balcony a bit basic and dusty for a high-end hotel. The staff were all kind and helpful. We stayed two nights to enjoy a day break during our Camino.

SpainSome of the electrics are a little on the old side in the rooms. The breakfast buffet was generally good but I missed natural yoghurt as all those on display had sugar added. The bar is a little expensive, but you are paying for that amazing view.
A stunning setting overlooking the river miño and Tui on the Spanish side. Rooms are comfortable and large with plenty of storage. Breakfast was included, unlike Spanish paradores, and was a good buffet.

This was a fabulous place to stay. Friends who have walked the Camino recommended staying in Valenca instead of Tui and they were right. The pousada was inside a fortress overlooking the Minho River and our room had a gorgeous view. Very nice communal areas downstairs, a lovely patio right on the edge of the fortress walls, and a quaint but modernly appointed room. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. In the morning we got up early for the luggage service, as Portugal is one hour behind Spain. Sun was rising over the fortress walls so we had a beautiful view while the concierge hustled to make us coffee and croissants since we couldn’t stay for the general breakfast.

United StatesWe had one of the best rooms, upstairs with a large balcony overlooking the river and Tui. Large room with a wall of windows, excellent views. Very comfortable. Very good breakfast, very attentive staff. Great to be inside the castle walls at night when everyone else has gone. Driving inside the castle to the hotel was fun, too.

SpainWe were charged € 7,50 for the storing of an ebike overnight, in a store-room which was not a garage but a workshop. This is a total rip-off, and we were traveling with 16 ebikes in total, so bike storage was proportionally more expensive than a room. This policy needs to be done away with and all bikers should be aware of this! The hotel needs a soft refurb overall and the rooms in particular, in one of the rooms the toilet drainage didn't work.
Biggest plus is the location inside the ancient fortress. Breakfast buffet was very good, the terrace and garden with the views are another value-add. Quiet street with hardly any traffic and all attractions of the town can be reached on foot.
