The rooms were a little Spartan for a luxury hotel, but nothing that I would complain loudly about. They were totally serviceable and suited us just fine. I would mention that the dining room was very hot for an Americans taste.

I loved everything about my stay at your gorgeous property! I have been telling people about how wonderful every thing was there, and have been recommending you to anybody who will listen to me! It was simply amazing to be able to stay in such an historical monument, and to freely walk around the beautiful gardens of such a special place The food and the service were exemplary, and I never wanted to leave the property! I could have stayed there for weeks. Truly a dream come true!

The bathroom had a shower inside a bathtub which was awkward to get into. We would have preferred a stand alone shower.

Our room was very clean, comfortable & spacious. We had a lovely view of the city of Guimaraes….sunsets & twinkling lights. The gardens around the Pousada are extensive & beautiful including water features, different types of gardens with paths & seating. Wonderful to walk or enjoy reading & relaxing on a park bench. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly & helpful. Breakfast was a delight with many choices. We had dinner one night in the dining room…very good, but if you didn’t want a full meal, there was a lounge with fireplace…light meals, drinks & snacks could be served.

this is truly an exceptional place. peace and beauty in one place. we highly recommend. the staff team works like one whole soul with one aim: your comfort and enjoyment. you can experience gastronomy the way you want. if you do not know about here is a good start where you can find humbleness and know-how unlimited.

I can't think of a thing

I felt like royalty spending time in my own castle! The staff was wonderful, went out of their way to make you comfortable and happy. When I asked if there were books available in English, the manager went out of his way to take me to a bookcase and pointed out a few books he had particularly enjoyed. Being an avid reader, I found this charming! I enjoyed the comfortable bar and lobby area and had a very good hamburger there.

my only concern was the entrances to the wheelchair ramps which were a little too abrupt. there were ramps wherever needed however. while the stair seat at the entrance wasn’t working they helped me up the stairs and carried up my cart. they were wonderful about helping me.

This place is amazing. but what makes it extra special is the staff. they are the best - super friendly and helpful. we had a couple of problems ( no one’s fault) that they solved with tact and efficiency. I truly felt a part of the family. The food was great, the rooms very comfortable, and. the grounds were beautiful. I liked it so much we extended a day and I wished we could have stayed longer.

The restaurant should stick to Portuguese classics rather than Italian, or at least avail themselves of a youtube tutorial on how to cook/serve pasta. You can call it ‘esparguete’ or ‘massa’, but pasta it always is. There is no excuse for spaghetti alla carbonara with cream in 2023!

The location and chance to stay in a beautiful old monastery cannot be beaten. Staff were efficient and friendly and our pooch was made to feel welcome — a rarity in Portugal

Believe it or not, there's nothing one could point out as unsatisfactory.

The staff was outstanding in courtesy, attention to the client well beyond the line of duty. Remarkable! Breakfast was very good. The room had some space limitations but, other than that, it was quite satisfactory. The surroundings in the estate are wonderful with woods and varied vegetation.

Our dinner in the restaurant was good, but not exceptional. Portuguese wines, always delicious, were overpriced.

Our room was atmospheric and comfortable, overlooking the garden and simply, but tastefully, furnished. It was just steps to the beautiful public spaces of the hotel. A shared veranda with a fountain and tiled walls was perfect for watching the sun set.

The breakfast was very basic in terms of variety of food. Could have been more fresh/cooked vegetables and fruit. And I expected to see the coffee machine, not the instant coffee made in the thermos. But the waitress brought us espresso when we asked for.

The territory of the hotel is amazing!! Totally worth to walk around. The hotel itself is like a museum too) The personnel speaks English (that is rare in Portugal) and very polite. The bar with fireplace at cool night is very cozy and quiet. In the room we found chocolates, some fruit and flowers - so many nice surprises)) We could see the whole city from above from our room window on the 5th floor - amazing view! I absolutely loved the hotel)

Some parts of the complex were cool because it’s January and it’s a stone building.

Enormous ancient monastery with beautiful modern upgrades. A world class facility. Staff were very well informed and gracious. Food was gourmet quality.

Specific lighting in the apartment - when light is on in the bathroom it’s seen from the room so is very inconvenient during the night or morning.
