Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Quinta de Marrocos is lovely, and Cesar, the proprietor and his staff go out of their way to take care of their guests. The food and wines were excellent, and we had the most informative, thorough tour of the vineyard and process for making wine. The house is serene, with a wonderful overlook of the river and vineyards…an unforgettable place to sample their port.

United StatesWe really loved the Quinta de Marrocos. It’s a family owed vineyard and they treated us like family visiting. The wine tour was very informative with D’Anna and Cesar the owner is the cutest man, it shows he loves what he does! It was a small place but we felt so welcomed!

United StatesThe only thing we didn’t like was the shower. It was very small- it was a tiny corner shower which I barely could move in - but it was very difficult for my husband (6’3” tall 200lbs). It was a small inconvenience for only 2 nights. We were in the cottage so I’m not sure about other showers in the main house they may be larger.
Cesar, Anna and Andre were all so welcoming and accommodating. We booked 2 nights and took the tour and had the dinner our first night. Anna gave us the tour and was very informative. We had the dinner after the tour with wine pairings- and after dinner port and dessert. Cesar (owner and host) joined us after dinner and told us the history of his Quinta and many interesting stories. He invited us to his sitting room for special Port tasting and more conversation. The next morning at breakfast Cesar gave us great recommendations on where to visit and restaurant recommendations for lunch and dinner. We took his advice on places to visit and on a lunch spot and were so glad we did! We had a perfect day! Cesar is really a most gracious host with a passion for his Quinta and a love of sharing it all with others.

United StatesOnly that we couldn't stay longer.
I can't say enough good about this place and the staff. If you're looking for a quiet spot to stay with clean, simple rooms and a friendly staff, this is the place. To be clear, though, if you're looking for fancy rooms and facilities and want to be pampered, go elsewhere. For us, this place was perfect. We wanted a clean, basic place to spend a few nights. We booked the two room home to give us a little space to spread out after a few weeks on the road and the place was perfect for that. The staff were incredible welcoming and generous. We were greeted on arrival with a glass of their fantastic white port. We enjoyed a walk through the vineyard and some birdwatching and flower sniffing led by Jaqueline the dog :-) We also enjoyed several great conversations with Cesar, the owner. He's led an interesting life and, as the fourth generation to own Quinta Marrocos, he's got a lot of family history to share. Diana led us on a fantastic winery tour that culminated in a dinner with pairings of their wine and port. We also booked a day tour of the Duoro with Andre. His tour was easily the highlight of our three week trip. He has great knowledge of the area, history, and culture of Portugal and led us to several great wineries to taste wines and ports along with a few scenic and historical sites. I could go on and on but suffice it to say our decision to spend a few nights here was one of the best we've made lately. Quinta de Marrocos isn't for everyone but, if you want a nice, comfortable stay in the midst of a small, working winery, staffed by great people, this is a great choice.

United StatesThere was nothing that we weren't enchanted with
Isabella the French Chef made delicious and extensive breakfast, lunch and dinners. You will never go hungry or need to search out other meals. Every meal she made was absolutely exquisite. The property was lovely and fully accessible. Walk among the vines at sunset for a special view. Ceasar, the owner was delightful and hospitable, checking often to make sure we had everything we needed. Quinta de Marrocos was without a doubt the loveliest stay during our 17 day tour of Portugal

CanadaWe loved everything.
We loved our stay in this authentic, family owned Quinta. It exudes old world charm and has unparalleled views of the Douro and neighboring vineyards. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Caesar, the charming octogenarian owner made a point of introducing himself and chatting with us. Diana was a great host and guide to the vineyard and wines. We especially enjoyed their lovely ports, a vintage tawny was our favorite.Dinner was a cozy repertoire of traditional food. The grounds are wonderful and we really enjoyed walking through the vineyard amonts the vines, olive and orange trees accompanied by their friendly dog.

United KingdomIt would be nice to be able to make a drink (tea/coffee) in the room, or to have access to something like a coffee machine in the lounge.
Beautiful view. It's a really lovely spot overlooking the river and it's interesting to watch the trains, the boats and the birds. Breakfast and dinner were good. The bread and jam in the morning were particularly good, as was the wine and the port wine. The tour of the estate was excellent.

United StatesA pool is always a welcome feature of any location, and during the heat of Portugal's summer months this would be nice to have.
During my stay I toured the winery, which while small and simple, was interesting. This is a boutique vineyard that has been in operation in the same family for generations. Quinta de Marrocos is rustic charm, that provides a peaceful and comfortable stay, but not a glitz and glamor location. The wine and the meals are beyond excellent! I would rate the dinner high as at any good city restaurant, and the use of their local ingredients was evident, including the use of their port wine in the sauces. Breakfast, while simple, incorporated the fine skills demonstrated by the cook, Isabella. Her homemade orange marmalade (using oranges from their own trees) was delicious!

BrazilThe heating of the room was broken and we have to get a manual heater. Unconfortable nights. There is no place to stay out of the room that is outside the main building. You have to knock on the door, call the owner, which is very unpleasant. I didn't feel comfortable doing that.
