Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe dormroom doors didn't lock and everyone could just come inside. Staff came into our rooms unannounced and even used one of our lockers even though they didn't stay in our room. I wished the rooms had a code or a card to feel safer. Also the shower rooms don't make any sense: to have 3 showers in one room, if I enter alone, I will lock the door and therefore block the other two showers. Plus the toilets inside. Also the beds were very squeaky and didn't have any mini lamps or hooks to hang stuff, which can be very handy.
I was moved to the Macarena Hostel because it was a quieter area. Tommy was SO GREAT. He really has passion for his job and takes care of his guests and hangs out. I liked the pool table and the kitchen was pretty nice as well. The showers are new and fancy. Location is great, you can walk to several beaches from there, the city center and night life are also super close. The people I met there were great and I had a really nice time.

Stayed here before so knew exactly what to expect. Lovely hostel to stay in, great to easily meet others, especially up on the rooftop terrace

SloveniaHad to wait quite a bit for hot water while showering. There was no sink next to the toilet to wash your hands, so you had to do it in the kitchen or on another floor.
Good location and a nice terrace.

United KingdomI'm not sure it can brand itself as a "party hostel" as there doesn't seem to be any events going on. Maybe that is because I went in October (off-season). However, there were still a few people in the hostel at the time, so maybe something could have been organised.
Good location in the old town for accessing everything that you possibly need to by walking, including buses from the waterfront for onward travel. It is quite a walk from the bus and train station, but most other hostels in this price range seem to be anyway. Very clean and comfortable beds. Two of the bathrooms looked quite small, but I had the bedroom with the en-suite between 6 people which was handy. The kitchen felt basic at first, but then it is a small hostel, so it was fine for the number of people. Nice rooftop area to hang out, but beware that if it is raining, there aren't any decent communal areas to hang out in.

ItalyThere is no sink in one of the bathroom and the kitchen is a bit small (but well equiped and that's the most important). Overall, not really cosy but fonctionnal so it's really ok for the price.
The hostel is really near the city center, the rooftop is so cool to spend time with people (when the weather is nice).

AustraliaOnly having two bathrooms for the entire hostel was a little challenging at times, can imagine when the hostel is fully booked it might be even more of an issue.
The hostel was in an amazing location. The balcony attached to the room as well as the rooftop terrace were great and were a great place to chat with other people staying. Really good value for the location and the facilities and cleanliness, I'd absolutely stay here again in Lagos.

This was my second time staying and know it is a safe bet. Ultimately if you want to stay at a 5* hotel in a quiet neighbourhood then this isn't for you. You have to understand what you are booking or you'll be left disappointed. If you want to meet new people, stay at a centralised location and party then it is perfect. They run day trips which is a great way to see places as a group that otherwise would take ages to get to and might not be the same experience. I didn't want to party on this occasion but still was good and would definitely come back if in the area again.

New ZealandThe hostel is surrounded by nightlife so it is very difficult to sleep until after 2am when things go quiet. There is only one toilet/shower on each floor.
Easy check in. The room was clean and had air conditioning. Lockers came with a key so no padlock needed.

LithuaniaSometimes there is a queue for the bathroom and music is pretty loud from outside, so definitely recommend bringing ear plugs:).
The stay at the hostel was great! Incredible for meeting new people and since the hostel is small, the interactions with people were more intimate and it feels like you are staying with a family. Tommy meets all the expectations made here in the reviews and goes beyond that! Would definitely come back!

NetherlandsOverall I sleep pretty good everywhere, but if you have difficulties with sleeping, it might be a good idea to wear earbuds. With earbuds it was all fine, but because the location is so great, it is also close to the bars which can be noisy sometimes.
I loved the owner of the hostel, tommy! He is such a friendly person! Had the best time talking to tommy in Portuguese and English, i said i wanted to practice my Portuguese and he was all here for it. The vibe in the hostel was great and everybody was so friendly! Went to the beach and to the bar multiple times with people from the hostel. The beds and showers get cleaned every day! Very clean.

The place was amazing, would recommend to any traveller going to Lagos. The owner Tommy is really something else, so sweet and welcoming will really go out of his way for his guests. I did stay during the week and yes its a bit noisy but as long as you bring earplugs you will be fine, l didn't even have these and l was ok and l am a light sleeper. I totally recommend everyone to go to Churrasqueira praça d'armes, best chicken and chips you ever have and only 8 euros.

GermanyGreat location (10 minutes walking to the beach). The street can be noisy during night though as you try to sleep. The staff were super friendly and helpful with anything that was needed. They made sure I got help because my knee was injured, and they changed my room to a female only room for no extra charge. That is the maximum professionalism. Very clean kitchen, toilet and showers. Roof top was also nice. Loved the pictures hanging in the corridor with funny texts.

GreeceThe kitchen is a bit small for the number of guests. I would have liked to have coffee available in the hostel even if it required a donation. Could use paper towels in the bathrooms.
Close to the centre and the beach. Friendly and helpful welcome by Tommy. Cleaned daily. Good value for the price. A couple of bars close by. The female dorm was quiet even on the weekends, but we had the window closed, and I was there in March.
