“The location was perfect—peaceful and scenic, yet conveniently close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. I enjoyed taking morning walks in the nearby area and soaking in the local culture.
If you’re looking for a cozy, authentic, and heartwarming place to stay, this homestay is an absolute gem.”
“Rooms were as depicted in photos, and recently renovated in an industrial style, complete with elevators for luggage and soon to be available co-working spaces. Internet was solid. There are direct views of the ocean waves from the public areas and to-be-opened coffee shop. This is a super unique lodging, set up in a historical military-run "tea room" to provide services to troops and officers. The shared bunks were where the soldiers received services, and the individual rooms were for officers to visit their favorite ladies. They've preserved the separate bathhouse for women of the tea rooms after a day of work. There are also exhibits throughout the buildings -- stories of a soldier's first time, or of the complicated relationships that resulted from these rendezvous, or of the women who were working here. The entire first floor of the officers' rooms (individual bedrooms) have been preserved more or less as is, with original pink walls from when the rooms were used for different purposes, and enhanced with Matsu Biennial exhibits (unfortunately only in Chinese.) Really meaningful and unique lodging that highlights the complex military & civilian history of the islands during the Chinese Civil War.”
“The hosts were phenomenal. Super helpful, even with a language barrier. Breakfast was tasty. The room was very clean. There's a little balcony with seaview.”
“Great location, just a 15–20 minute walk to the port via the coastal path, and close to convenience stores and small local restaurants.
The room was spotless and the beds were very comfortable – we slept really well.
The owner was incredibly welcoming and even offered to drive us to the port the next day for our ferry.
Highly recommend this small hotel for a pleasant and easy stay!”
“This place is a beautiful blend of tradition and modern comfort—clean, charming, and thoughtfully designed.
The path leading to the house is just as lovely as the house itself. And the terrace is wonderful.
The host was incredibly kind, making my stay pleasant.
When I mentioned I came to see the Blue Tears, they went out of their way to help me find them.
If you’re lucky and the host isn’t too busy, you might even be able to join a tour with Janet. They are very helpful joyful.
It’s a great way to explore not only the popular tourist spots but also some hidden local favorites.”
“The location is great, right at the top of the hill with an amazing view. The host is so friendly and helpful! He helped me book tours and taxis and gave me heaps of advice on how to structure my time. It was incredibly helpful! His dog is also so adorable :) the room is really clean and has everything you need.”
