Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeLike: Very central in Jiufen old street. The elder owner couple very nice . Husband took our 2 luggage down to the bus stop and wife walk us down to the bus stop. We got a 6 bed room with sea view and upgrade from the owner. Basic yet very homely … lovely sandwiches and fruits and coffee. Tv channels are great - so many channels - Cinemax etc . Dislike very minor - lots of steps up to the B&B unavoidable as this is jiufen but is worth it as with the good location - value for money

United KingdomHard to find, a local women helped up but very difficult to drive round the narrow steep streets, although there is a car park near.
Place had lots of character and the owner was really helpful, he came and rescued us when we arrived as the street is very narrow and we nearly got our car stuck on a very steep dead end. Once we found it the location was good for walking to the market srreet and to the Gold Museum (30 minute walk)

SingaporeThe bathroom was really cold.....
Breakfast provided was delightful - simple and yummy! The location is great, has a good view of the Keelung Port and is quiet and tranquil. Do follow the instructions on using the correct steps up from Jiufen Old Street as it's the fastest and less tiring route to the homestay. Thank you for giving us the 4 pax room even though we booked for 2, and rather last minute as well.

Australiasmall bedroom with a narrow ensuite plus a so called sea-view room, it’s just a bed room in an ordinary house up the hills with plenty steps to claim! Not worth the values.
Pro: inside the main town Con: plenty steps to claim up, worse with luggages

AustraliaBreakfast was just ok, a sandwich of your choice, coffee and a bit of fruit.
The place was more of an apartment, minus the kitchen. There was another bedroom upstairs which we didn't use. The little window provided a good view, but that was rare as the weather was bad. The two bathrooms were great and the shower had excellent pressure. The bed was comfortable. The guy who manages the place doesn't speak English, but he is super helpful and will use the translator. Location is a few minutes from the Old Street using the steps.

SingaporeJuifen streets and accommodations are not level with steps so no heavy suitcases. Apt only has 1 bathroom but with good supply of hot water.
We booked 2 bedroom apt sleeps 5 pax. It Apt is just outside the Juifen Old street and convenient to walk around the area. It is a home stay so apt is to be expected with home feel furnitures and clean. Owner is very friendly and helpful but speaks Mandarin only. Simple breakfast offered. Besides aircon, fans are also available if too hot in apt.

CanadaThere were delays on my arrival due tu a major Typhoon hitting Taiwan on those days. All the other hotesl that I visited during the trip ajusted my fares as it was a delay beyond my control, here I was charged the full amount. It makes sense based on the rules, but other locations were more mindful of the situation. The place itself is located a certain walk away from the main streed with many stairs. I am quite fit, so for me it's not an issue, but if you carry heavy luggage. Less of an issue if you arrive by car.
It was more spacious than expected. The hosts were welcoming enough and they brought the breakfast in the morning based on what we ordered, it was quite good.

It’s a cute place with a engaged owner. The interior is simple, a bit mixed up and selfmade, but ok. The heating blanket was super! Alright for one night.

United Arab EmiratesThe window view might not be represented accurately in the photos, since the window is not on the edge (it is next to the patio). There would sometimes be people sitting or passing by in front of your window which might not give lots of privacy.
Breakfast was good, they allow you to choose what you want on a menu when you arrive. There were many fruits in the breakfast. The place is calm and nice, and there is a view from the window. Pretty close to Jiufen old street.

MalaysiaThe road leading to the property is a little secluded, and although well-lit, would be a tad scary if I wasn't with my partner. The road wind through a couple of locals' homes, so I felt like i was intruding a little when I pass -- but that was just me. The roads aren't on Google maps either -- we took a wrong turn once, and ended up somewhere else, but that was a happy accident, because we happened upon views that were so otherworldly and unexpected -- off the beaten track, i guess!
Cosy little homestay -- it's operated by an adorable old couple. Would be incredibly helpful if you know how to speak mandarin -- Mandarin is my mother tongue, so I'm not sure how bad the language barrier would've been if I hadn't known the language. Love the view from the property's 'balcony'. We ate supper on the 'balcony' -- lovely! There were only three rooms -- we had the double room with sea view. Minimal sea view, but the view was great. It was cool enough at night to not require air-conditioning too (I went in early April). Toilets came with towels and shower gels/shampoo, and there was a hair dryer and TV too. Bed had an electric heater, and the duvet was weighted enough to give me that sense of security I love. It was close enough to the old street that we could make multiple trips back to the homestay to leave our shopping items behind before continuing our exploration. Made for an easy walk to the old street at night for the night lights too! It felt like going home in a foreign country :)

SwitzerlandYou need to walk stairs to reach the location, but that typical for Jiufen. Better take small luggage.
Close to Jiufen Old Street. All the shops and tea-houses are nearby. You have (small) seaview from upper room - you can seat at small desk and enjoy the views while eating or working. It can accommodate a few people (3 people each in own bed or 5/6 if 2 sleep in bed. 2 beds are big and 3rd bed upstairs is smaller). There are 2 bathrooms. This can be low cost for a group/family. Water dispenser with hot water and tea in room.

United StatesWe were taken on a wild goose chase around town and then dumped in a very dirty apartment which they stated was an upgrade. We had to park our car very far away from the "b&b" and then walk up very steep stairs up through the whole village to the top to get to it (straight 20 min of climbing). We couldn't even say anything because the owner doesn't speak English and just took our suitcase and ran with it in front of us. The apartment was very dirty and stank of mold. The curtains were completely molded. Bathroom was disgusting and there were hair and weird things all over the floor. If it wasn't a "remote" village and it wasn't so late we definitely wouldn't have stayed there if we had a chance to even look at the place before the owner ran away. The beds were very hard. Breakfast was just a mini sandwich and some sweet tea.
