Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe did notice some wear and/or decay in flooring areas, as well as some trim. This did not cause inconvenience during our stays. Although not in "downtown" Arusha, and on a busy road with plenty of daytime activity, the neighborhood gets quiet after hours.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was more than adequate (quite large for just 2 people!), and the restaurant menu featured a variety of tasty meals. Concierges Paul and Patrick deserve special recognition for their willingness to go above and beyond with any request or inquiry. The room featured a large full kitchen (without cookware) and bedrooms separate from the bathrooms. Very large living room with abundant furniture and T.V.

PortugalWe had dinner at the restaurant and opted for the a la carte menu instead of the buffet. The food wasn’t good at all. We ended up sending a steak back and in the end they wanted to charge us for what we sent back even though we got a cheaper option afterwards. We had to discuss quite a will to make them realize it wasn’t ok to pay for something we didn’t eat. In the end if you are eating there just go for the buffet
Big and clean rooms.

FinlandWe had booked the presidential suite – and this time we got it also (unlike last week when it did not exist). It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, like the description says. The other bathroom is quite small, with a shower, not bathtub, and no hairdryer there. At the bigger bathroom, the hairdryer did not work. We were brought one, but with wrong kind of plug. We asked for an adapter and finally got one. The suite had a vast kitchen to make instant coffee at – with two cups and two glasses you can’t really utilize the kitchen for anything else. The smaller room I stayed at had no lamp at the nightstand and also some of the lamps at the ceiling did not work. The “view” from the room was against a brick wall. And btw, there’s no possibility the suite would be 400 m2, like told at Booking.com.
Again, the staff was very nice and the breakfast good with variety and taste. The pool is nice, although quite small.

FinlandWe had booked the presidential suite but we were first taken to a small upper floor room with one bed at the living room and the other one at the mezzanine floor – so not really even one proper bedroom, and definitely not the presidential suite (two bedrooms, two bathrooms). When we didn’t accept that room we were taken to a bigger one – with a big living room and one big bedroom (and a big kitchen to make instant coffee at). Still not the presidential suite we had booked and paid. After that we all returned to the reception where several members of staff were “solving” the problem. One manager (?) told us that they don’t have such a suite (with two bathrooms) at all. Obviously, the suite was given to somebody else, but instead of admitting that, he decided to lie about the suite. I found it very strange that the information at Booking.com would be false. We finally accepted to stay in two separate rooms (the big one and the other, small one one at the upper floor). I returned to the reception once more and showed the description from Booking.com to the receptionist (who was made to give us the small and modest room at the first place) and only then she admitted that the suite was “not available”. I felt sorry for her cause I don’t think this was her fault, but she was put to the front line to meet us and trying to give us the incorrect room. As we were planning to return to Gold Crest after our safari following week, and had again booked the presidential suite, I asked if that is available by then – and she promised it will. We asked compensation for not getting the room we had booked, but in their opinion, we were not entitled to any, as we got two rooms instead of the suite.
The staff was otherwise nice, only I found it strange how our case was handled (see my other comment) – did somebody really believe we would accept that small room if we had booked the presidential suite. Breakfast buffet was good in variety and taste.

United StatesThe only thing I didn't like was the breakfast. I asked for two soft poached eggs and got rock hard fried eggs. And, they served them with a smile, which I took to mean, "they don't have a clue."

United StatesI normally don't splurge or spend extra to seek the best (or top) room available in a hotel property. BUT, if a hotel advertise "Presidential Suite," I then have high expectations to the room I'm paying for. I shouldn't expect some of the furniture to look scratchy or fairly used. I shouldn't expect art work on the walls that don't look like they were dusted off. I shouldn't expect shower heads that appears very grimy and hideous to take a shower. This complaint isn't toward the working staff, but should be raised to management. Anyone who wants the BEST lodging room of your property should expect an immaculate place to enjoy. Goodness, a nice small bouquet of fresh flowers should let me know I'm special. My current advise for the management is to simply re-name the suite as "A Two-Bedroom Suite w/o a full kitchen."
Breakfast and other buffet meals throughout the day were great! Young staff were friendly and wanted to make sure my stay was good. I received a call prior to my arrival to ensure I was on the way to the hotel property.
