We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MongoliaI just came back from a week in Kita Kiblu and I wish I could have stayed longer! Everyone at Kita Kiblu is so kind, welcoming and fun; when my travel plans changed last minute I was welcomed back as a friend and I very much hope to visit again soon. As a solo traveller, it was very easy to socialize with guests due to the friendly vibes, lovely bar with views of the sunset and the communal dining. The food at lunch and dinner was excellent and incredibly good value - we had a three course dinner including fresh fish every day and vegetarian guests are well catered-for. My room was very cute and the outdoor shower is lovely. The whale shark encounters were very well-run and Luka, the whale shark interns and the boat crew ensured we had a good experience. The manager Betty works so hard to look after everyone and creates a very special atmosphere on Mafia Island. Eva and the reception staff were super friendly and really helpful! Asante sana na tutuonane tena 🙏

United StatesNo complaints - we really enjoyed all aspects of our stay, which had much more character and charm than the seemingly cookie cutter resorts down in other parts of the island
Wonderful team and great facilities! Everyone was so incredibly welcoming, supportive and friendly during our stay, taking the time to visit with us during meals and helping to accommodate our relatively packed time on Mafia. We felt truly at home and only wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the grounds. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted by curious monkeys and saw several elephant shrews as a bonus to our stay. The whale shark excursions that they offer are best on the island (we tried one other operator as well), being not only efficiently run and catering to all demographics, but also very educational and responsibly run by a team that is clearly passionate and informed about the animals. Excellent adventure - thanks for making our time so special :)

The moment I stepped through the door, I was welcomed like family. The staff here are nothing short of extraordinary. They don't just work at the hotel; they breathe life into it. Every interaction was warm, genuine, and filled with a sincere desire to make my stay unforgettable. From the helpful tips about hidden gems in the area to the extra mile they go to ensure your comfort, the team here sets the bar impossibly high. Mornings at Kitu Kiblu start with a feast. It's not just food; it's the perfect fuel for a day of exploration. Whether you're heading out for a whale shark encounter or a day of surprises on Mafia Island, this breakfast sets the tone for adventure.

ItalyKitu Kiblu is a wonderful accomodation. If you are looking for a gateaway in the nature then is the right place. The bed was comfortable and the tent was also very spacious. Meals are served on a shared table with other guests which is really nice

ItalyCommunication in english is not always fluid but this didn't affect at all and we always got to the point at the end!!! :-)
When looking for a genuine, immersive and take it is experience Kitu Kiblu is a great choice to take. We spent a wonderful week there and are enthusiastic of all facilities and people; everything is exactly as described in the profile. Accomodations could be choosene to be more discreet (on the trees) or more common and we strongly suggest the second option; apart from an incredible quality/price ratio the whole experience deserves to be done! We appreciated so much to have shower in the jungle surronded by palm leafs and accept a rope is the door for the toilet (yes, it's true and frankly speaking all is priceless!!!!). All the description look a bit as only for brave and indeed this "return to the basic" is exaclty what I think it should be experienced to understand we don't need that much to feel happy, just go back to the essential and appreciate!!! People have been very friendly and inclusive and did their best to let us feel welcomed and help for local activities.

United KingdomI think even though the room was budget there should be a mirror either in the room or in the bathroom. A chair would be helpful in the room as well even if it's a budget stay.
The added half board option when staying here. It made my stay more affordable. The staff here is super helpful for anything you might need. The added supply of unlimited purified water meant I didn't need to buy bottles water which is good. The fact that they have whale shark conservation and tours made it easy after I overslept to still make it with minimal delays to the overall group. The location to the airport is also good. Your data will usually work even when it say there is a signal. It can be choppy but it works. Best place was by the yoga space.

CanadaLoved the rustic environment, low footprint place. The "tent house" was perfect. Good place to meet other travellers in the common hang out areas. Food was ok....the ourdoor showers were i teresting but very enjoyable....great day excursions can be booked through them. The Whale Shark trip was fantastic, a trip highlight for me at the end of almost 6 weeks in Africa. I did two Whale Shark trips and the one with Kitu Kiblu owner Jean was by far the better of the two. Would definitely stay here again.

SwitzerlandNothing.
Kitu Kiblu is a little gem in Kilindoni, only 5 minutes from the airstrip. The lodge is completely immersed in nature, with direct access to the ocean and a breathtaking view. The atmosphere is more of a family than an accommodation facility: you feel right away at ease with everyone, and you can immediately switch your brain off and take away any sort of stress that you carry on your shoulders. If you want, you can also organise an encounter with the whale sharks in a responsible and organized manner. I left a piece of heart in Kitu Kiblu and I'll definitely come back.

AustraliaThe beds are not designed for anybody over 6 foot and you cannot swim at the beach out front on low tide
KK is extremely tranquil and perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of anywhere else. The setting is so peaceful hidden under the high canopy of the tropical forest. The staff are amazing and so helpful with anything on the island. The food is tasty and great value. The area has no other tourists so very quiet. The outdoor showers with Kerosene heating is pretty cool too.

United StatesThis was the perfect spot to unwind and take in Mafia. Located in the beautiful coastal jungle, but still close enough to explore Kilindoni, and only a short ride to the marine park. The property was clean, safe and the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Everyone treated me like family. Comfortable beds, and beautifully built unique and authentic treehouses!! I’ve never stayed anywhere like this. My favorite part about this spot was the seaside bar that overlooks the ocean, it’s the perfect setting to have a cold drink and watch Mafia’s unbeatable sunsets. Highly Recommend 10/10

IsraelThe property charged us before arrival when we clearly selected on the booking we want to pay on arrival. The staff tried at the checkout to raise the price of the stay by charging us for transportation we never asked for and by trying to roll the money transfer fees on to us. When we insisted on paying no more than the price stated on booking.com the property manager slammed shut her laptop and yelled at us.
We liked the privacy of the bungalow.

United StatesI had a single occupancy room with two twin beds but both beds had sand on them and one of the bed’s sheet had stains. I understand that these are huts/bungalows but there was a lot of ants in my room and during the night I could feel them on me. The room did have mosquito/bug repellent but it didn’t necessarily work. Also there were huge spiders, but I get it we are in the jungle. I’m not really fussy but considering the price I would have expected a more decent and clean place to sleep. There were no lights for the showers, at least on my side, also no checked to see if there was toilet paper and hand soap, so I would get it from the main huts.
The young gentleman who greeted us every morning with our breakfast was very professional and went above and beyond to make my breakfast early before leaving to go scuba diving.
