Worth knowing that there isn't a lift - might be an issue for some people. I also didn't like the fact the room was in the middle of the restaurant. Our door opened to people eating which was uncomfortable to know!

Very good location, with only a few minutes walk to the main square. Right by the water too so it was a lovely sunset view! Staff were lovely and very helpful too. Nice breakfast options too a la carte style! The staff also would spray anti mosquito repellent in the room every evening.

Very friendly staff. Lovely roof terrace restaurant. Clean rooms, bathrooms and a/c worked well. Location about 5 mins walk from the main UNESCO parts of the town. Small pool suitable for a quick dip.

My room was 303 which is right below the restaurant, whenever they were moving chairs or tables I can hear that loud and clear. And they were moving furnitures late at night and early in the morning too…

The room is big and clean

Breakfast was late and the room was noisy even by night.

Great location. Just need to walk a bit as the car won't leave you on door. Spacious room and they give attention to mosquitoes.

Taxi's can't drive to the front of the hotel so I suggest putting some signs up as walking through the alleyway with your bags not knowing if you headed in the right direction is not a great feeling. My only other issue during my stay was the restaurant. On my second night I decided to have dinner at the restaurant. When they handed me the menu I realized that in the morning I could have had more options but instead in the morning I was not provided the breakfast menu but rather just told I could have eggs. As for dinner, the meal I ordered was underwhelming and then when I got the bill I was not happy. First, I had asked for just water to drink and they brought a large plastic bottle (fine) but when I saw they charged me $5 USD for the exact same size bottle I had bought from a shop a few hours earlier for 38 cents. If I would have known that I would have just walked back to my room and grabbed the bottle I had already bought (10 days in Tanzania and bottled water was always reasonably priced, except here). As for the meal in total I paid $20 USD which would be fine if you would have provided better value. The Club sandwich was half of the size I would have gotten in the U.S. along with the amount of fries, yet you charged as much as I would have paid in a U.S. restaurant. Just way over priced for what was provided.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. I like properties that have character and this place had character. The rooftop deck and the courtyard pool area helped provide this character. Good location and views.

Quite noisy on the outside ( there is a motorbike shop in front of the hotel and they tend to make noise also at later points in the night) and unfortunately when having dinner it took a full hour for the food to arrive.

The staff was friendly and especially the lady at the reception was really helpful and professional. The breakfast pastry was awesome and freshly baked.

However, there are a few areas that need improvement. Due to its proximity to the drains, cockroaches were a recurring issue. We appreciated that the hotel staff was responsive and moved us to a better room, but unfortunately, we still encountered cockroaches there as well. Additionally, the shower drain kept getting blocked, which was inconvenient during our stay.

The hotel has nice, spacious rooms and is in a great location — just a short walk to the beach and Forodhani Gardens, with a beautiful view from the property. The food was really good, and the overall ambiance is quite pleasant. With some attention to cleanliness and maintenance, this hotel has great potential thanks to its spacious rooms, good food, and unbeatable location.

We did not receive a warm welcome the night we checked in, the gentleman on duty was not at all friendly, he never smiled, instead looked very annoyed and rushed through our check in. I found the rest of the staff also very unfriendly, they didn’t smile much and struggled to communicate in English which was frustrating. Our tour guide Adam who was suggested by the property was not the greatest, he was only interested in taking us to the “Jumping Boys” which I clearly stated at the beginning of the tour that we are not interested in going there. He was relentless and eventually my husband told him we are ending the tour and we will continue on our own.

The rooftop restaurant has spectacular views. Location is good, not far from the main road but far when you have to carry bags to the taxi as the cars can’t access the small roads. Our room was very spacious and well decorated. My husband enjoyed his spa treatment and I got my henna done at the property which was great. A special thank you to Maureen the manager for organising the spa treatment for my husband and suggesting a guided tour of stone town for us, she was kind and helpful and resolved all our concerns. Another special thank you to Yaheer the waiter at the restaurant, your smile and gracious service made our stay so much more enjoyable. Lastly to the lady at the spa and the lady who does the henna, thank you both for the great service.

The mattress was unfortunately plagued by bed bugs, and I am unsure when it was last subjected to a thorough steam cleaning. We were compelled to utilize an entire can of NO BITE, a repellent containing 50% DEET, in order to secure a peaceful night's rest. I believe this situation merits immediate reporting to the tourism grading council, as it falls far short of acceptable standards. Furthermore, we encountered disturbances caused by the restaurant staff rearranging furniture, which unfortunately roused us from our slumber at an unseasonably early hour. .

The hotel boasts a prime location within a leisurely stroll of all the attractions in Stone Town, which proved ideal for us, as it eliminated the need for taxis during our shopping expeditions. The hotel itself was delightful, and the breakfast was commendable.
