Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSlightly odd not to see any staff but didn't really cause a problem for us.
Great location very close to the main high street, with all the bars, eatery's, shops etc. The hotel was beautiful and eclectically decorated. Our room was comfortable and very quiet. We saw no staff so cannot comment on them, they use an app for you to be able to access your room. This was a little confusing for us and didn't help that were had a UK mobile phone, which made contact a little difficult. But it all worked out in the end and we were able to access our room without any problems, although slightly strange not see anyone. Enjoyed our two night stay, rained the whole time but found a great piano bar (Tin Pan Alley) for both evenings, good staff, great music and good food.

United States of AmericaI am very disappointed in the level of customer service. The property sends several text messages with directions on how to check-in to your room, which is absolutely necessary because there is no one on site. This is more of an Airbnb than a hotel, which is not the experience I had expected. You have to download an app in order to get into your hotel room. They remind you to “charge your phone.” What if my phone was dead?? I wouldn’t be able to get in because there is no one around to help. I also had to wait to download the app once we arrived because there is no service driving into Provincetown since you are on an island. My boyfriend and I searched the property for our room toting our luggage around for 10 minutes before finally stumbling upon a staff member - had we not found him, I never would have found our room. It was put back, all the way at the end, around a corner and upstairs. Call me crazy, but if I’m paying $700 / night to stay somewhere, I’d like to see some star and expect excellent customer service. Very displeased with that experience.
The hotel has fabulous decor and is very clean. I also liked that the owners were sustainably minded and provided reusable bottles as a gift. It is also in a great relationship in relation to downtown Provincetown.

United States of AmericaBathroom were very small and no curtain on the window. My room was on the first floor right next to the front door and people were coming in and out late at night and very early morning. Also A/C compressor right under bedroom window.
Very clean. Loved the outdoor sitting area and the nightly wine and cheese

United States of AmericaPretty pricey. The room was small — tight squeeze with a suitcase. Most of my “negatives” are because the hotel is an old building, so not much that can be done really, but mentioning as a heads up to future clientele. 1) Long staircase to the second floor — can be tough if you have a large suitcase. 2) No safe in the room, just a VERY noisy wine fridge (but no wine glasses…or any glasses, for that matter). 3) My room was freezing cold during the day. Not horrible, as I liked it that way at night, but there is not an individual thermostat in the room. 4) Hotel offered a complimentary metal water bottle — a nice touch, except that the sinks are too shallow to fit the bottle under the faucet, and there was nowhere else in the hotel to access water. 5) Shower was fine, not stellar. 6) Walls are paper thin. I could hear my neighbor’s morning TV show loud and clear and could hear others walking in the hallway. Thankfully all guests were respectful during my stay, so it wasn’t horribly noisy.
Great aesthetic, amazing location, love that they have a small parking lot. The common areas were really inviting, even though I didn’t end up using them. I would have loved to sit and read on the comfy sofa! The staff was really communicative via text, and it was interesting (good? bad? not sure) never to see any staff throughout my stay. Loved the keyless entry upon check-in.

United States of AmericaWe had a Queen standard room but there was no in-room chair or seating area as advertised. (The queen sized bed and bedstands filled the room.) No coffee pot in the room (as advertised.) Had expected breakfast-- We each received a $5 voucher for a mexican-style restaurant which wouldn't have been my choice for the morning. It looks like they just revamped the website. The information on the website was not available when we made our reservations in early June. We booked through Booking.com and the stellar reviews and description of breakfast related to hotel under prior management. Staff not always on property.
Location! We lucked out and got a parking spot. (But would have lost it had we driven anywhere.)

United States of AmericaThe building is old so it can be creaky going up and down the stairs. My pain issue, which really had nothing to do with the place were the people across the hall. They were loud and obnoxious. Coming in at 1:45 in the morning yelling and laughing is just inconsiderate.
Unfortunately I didn’t stay at the Ellery Hotel. They were still renovating the place so they moved me to their sister hotel, Waterford Inn. The room was very large with a rustic feel.
