The polyester bedding with too soft mattress. There was the elevator piano music that played in the background, and can be heard in my room for hours until after 8pm. The carpet didn't look too clean. The staircase was steep and narrow with no elevator, it was difficult to carry luggage up with no help.

Things were not prepared in the room as advertised. When I contacted the host, they were not able to address them for me until sometime the next day.

Character building with a story, as well, the location between Monterey and Salinas was great, very centrally located and easy to get to the communities and amenities in the area.

Internal decoration a little faux-authentic which took away from the period ambience expected of the residence.

Attractive property in a gated estate, close to restaurants, nice semi-rural location. Comfortable clean bed.

Space heaters instead of central heat. Outside furniture needs a bit of TLC. Chilly in public room.

I liked the overall peacefulness at the chateau. The managers are very helpful and polite. I could help myself to coffee, filtered water, plates, glasses and silverware in a central area. My bed was very comfortable. My bathroom was spacious with lots of hot water. I had cable on the television and there was beautiful furniture in my room and throughout the chateau.

It felt s little weird to not have a physical staff here. I could always reach someone by phone (seemed like a call center service), but it was strange there wasn't anyone here to greet guests. My first night there was an issue with the electrical outlets in my room, so the heater and chargers didn't work. I had to call the center and they went through a troubleshooting protocol that didn't make sense before they agreed to move my room. The new room was great, and overall, it was still a chill and quiet visit. Just what I was looking for!

Clean room, very spacious, and quiet. Perfect spot for a solo work trip.

Shampoo, soap , and conditioner are terribly cheap. we were afraid to use it so we don't get cancer from it! The extra blanket is so old that I changed my mind using it and put it back. Decorations in the room are so cheap!

Super thin sheets. Our bathroom was huge and nicely appointed, but not clean. Very sad that it was in the middle of a modern housing development.

Wonderful old house, decorated so nicely. Lovely welcoming parlor and set up for coffee and tea downstairs. Heirloom fruit trees and roses were stunning. We had a turret!

The fact that there was no personal interaction and that the access was with codes, it made the experience a little spooky.

The mansion is well appointed with a lot of character. The room was spacious and the common spaces were elegant. The owners took care of all the little details.

The bed wasn't the most comfortable. It was a little bit creepy because it's a big mansion and we didn't see anyone haha, but in the end it was amazing.

We liked how it was so unique to stay in a chateau. Charming! Definitely never had a hotel like this before.

All rooms are on an upper level with access only by very steep stairs.

A boutique hotel. Rooms large with amazingly large bathroom. Set in a very old building which has been made from a large house into hotel rooms. Very quiet location. Room has an iron available. No staff available on check in but an email on the day of arrival for your stay included a code to enter the building and code to enter your room. The town of Salinas is about 5 minutes away where you are able to buy meals. Fridge in room was an added bonus. Ironing facilities in room
