We first had a terrible room on lower floor next to laundry room. We called to complain, but were told we couldn’t move by the manager and that he would let us know of any changes. We even got there around 2:00 pm to get a good room. We were told to go to dinner and upon our return they would find something. But that didn’t happen.

Saeed the on premise front desk attendant was so cordial. He found us a better room and moved us immediately. He made our stay great.

The restaurant downstairs closed the month before my arrival. The fire alarm went off during the night & early morning. The personal a/c units in the room was very loud.

The check in process was lengthy. They could benefit from a better software or connection or whatever was making it a lengthy process in their systems.

Would be great to have beach chairs, rather than camping chairs, but it was fine! Little breakfast items are a nice touch, however, they are mainly packaged, not the healthiest choices!

Loved that there was coffee available early in the morning and during the day. Happy that they had parking and provided chairs for the beach. Enjoyed the rooftop restaurant, the beach and sunset. Room was great! It was directly on the PCH, but I liked seeing the activity downtown.

This particular room was a bit small and difficult to navigate. The bathroom was small also. I understand this is a 100-year old historic hotel so this is expected. There was no phone in the room to call the front desk so I had to walk downstairs and back up each time I had a question. Apparently they are redoing the phones but still inconvenient. Also, there were no instructions in the room as to working the TV or the air conditioning system or as I mentioned a means to call the front desk. High tech items need instructions, please.

I like the Spanish style rooms at the hotel. My room was a corner room with a partial view of the ocean, very nice. The lobby has ample comfortable and welcoming seating and a fireplace that is always going. The hotel has the best rootfop bar in town with its proximity to the ocean and perfect sunset views. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is great, close to beaches and numerous shops and restaurants, and is in a nice, quiet part of town.

Good location, we liked that it has parking available and we could leave our bags until check in time. The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. We have stayed here before and always enjoy the roof top restraunt.

Staff were very helpful, great location, very close to the beach. We were upgraded to a themed room “Etnies”. Rooftop bar is a plus for watching the sunset. Free parking as well.

I know it's the building but we were under/next to the stairs for the rooftop bar and it sounded like elephants were jumping around with bricks on their feet. We had to change rooms as the window of our first room looked out to reception. No privacy at all - details like this should be transparent as we had to pay for an upgrade to change rooms.

Our room was very small. In the online website, the pictures shown, the room looked NOT AS SMALL as the room we had. The banisters in the central stairways, could really stand to be cleaned, disinfected....something. Those all felt sticky and looked dirty!

Came for the Sawdust festival. The trolleybus was helpful, so we didn't have to fight traffic. We liked the rooftop lounge. The food was tasty. The decor of the room was very nice, period appropriate. The staff was polite and attentive.

We had somebody enter our room, they had double booked it apparently. It’s a little rough around the edges overall. Needs updating. It would be nice if they had a hose to get the sand off things. One of the rooms smelled bad of the sewer.

Super close to beach! No need to cross the road just walk out the door and go down the steps to the beach. The rooftop restaurant was handy and pretty tasty.

It’s an older property and the rooms are quite small. Like most Euro hotels. Wish nice restaurant was opened more than just weekends.

I wanted to really like this place but the rooms were not good at all. I knew this was an older hotel and I knew the square footage of the room going in(and they are very small rooms!), but the rooms were in pretty bad shape and are in need of an overhaul. AC was pretty poor in the rooms for sure. I got the feeling that since we booked with booking.com instead of directly with the hotel that we got cruddy room, nothing to prove that for sure, but booking.com was significantly cheaper than their site. You are not in the room a whole lot outside of sleep so it overall wasn't a big deal, but for the money you would expect a bit better.

Location was awesome. Staff were great. Free parking was appreciated. Building in general had a nice lobby/hangout area. Rooftop bar was excellent for drinks and sunset fun.
