Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIt’s old so it’s going to have some quirks. The pull down shades in my room wouldn’t stay down and when I finally did finally get them to, they were pretty dirty on the inside. Otherwise the room was very clean.
It’s in a great location right on the river and walking distance to everything downtown. Although there are several bars right across the street who’s corded was kind of loud at 1 am on the sidewalks. The restaurant on the ground floor off is the lobby is delicious.

United StatesBecause of its age it has that old building smell. It was very clean but a little musty.
Quaint, historical and nicely appointed with antique furniture. Restaurant and bar were very good and staff efficient and friendly.

United StatesThis is terrible but I do love to relax with tv and the Dish Network offerings are slim. It’s 75% sports and various HBO and with rain in the area the service was out 50% of the evening. WiFi isn’t strong. At 107/night before taxes the rather compact Queen river view rooms on 2nd floor in the 1937 addition were kind of expensive as juxtaposed against 115/night for the historic yet thoroughly remodeled Hotel Morgan in Morgantown, a similar type of property whose rooms were completely updated, far larger, had lightening fast WiFi, refridgerators and brand new quiet and effective HVAC. Our rooms had blinds that didn’t totally close and no blackout drapes so if you need darkness to sleep this could be an issue as could be the HVAC which didn’t stop running and didn’t take all humidity out of the room, rooms felt damp. And although it didn’t bother us at all, be aware that they will need a credit card to hold $40/room for incidentals and damage. I don’t recall seeing this policy before we appeared at check in.
The history oozes from the walls and is displayed in photos and artifacts throughout the hotel. The staff is super friendly. The formal restaurant is really good! Great risotto, liver and onions, pineapple pie! The restaurant might be under rated. It is seriously very good. Breakfast was great! The $5 off any item if you don’t want the free basic breakfast makes any item still almost free. Bathrooms are nice and better than the rooms in our experience. Rooms are appropriate for a historic property that hasn’t been renovated. The rooms greatly vary from what we could see. Some are in the original building, some in the (still historic) 1937 addition. I’d advise you call the desk and discuss what you are most looking for in a room when making a reservation.

United StatesHad to change rooms. Loved the river room in first room but was not informed was an adjoining room and couple next door spoke very loud. So we changed rooms and the 2nd didn’t have what the first did, lacked a chair by the window and first room was a better view. Wasn’t offered assistance with changing rooms which would have been helpful. If had been informed adjoining room would have requested before hand diff room. Not offered discount for inconvenience. Have been to property many times over years and do love it. Front desk personnel is very nice each time we stay. Had our pet so we were able to eat at a table by piano and lounge staff very attentive, food was great. Also breakfast ate at a Starbucks table and the staff there wonderful.

United StatesI didn't mind it, but some visitors might find it a bit worn. It's not a glamorous, fancy place. It's a working old hotel in a charming small old city.
The location was the best: directly on the Ohio River, on the main street. It's an authentic old hotel. The furniture in my room seemed antique & solid. I walked everywhere in this lovely old town.

United StatesIf you are looking for any kind of updates, you won't find them here. While I appreciate keeping in time with the Riverboat era, cracked and peeling plaster, broken tiles, outlets that didn't work, etc were common. It could use a freshening up while remaining true to the time period. Our room smelled musty upon entering, but then had a faint sewage smell when the AC was turned on. It did dissipate. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. Overall, we had a nice time.

United StatesWe had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to return to the front desk to check us in which put us behind for our dinner plans. I had reserved a River view room while it did have a view of the river you had to look over a parking lot and cars to see it. Just not what I was expecting from other photos. The room was pretty small for a queen but it was only for one night so it was fine. Definitely historical hotel. It was fine overall for just the short time we were there but don’t know if I could spend multiple days.
It was a great location to walk to the river and close walking and driving distance of everything else.
