Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaLocation was a bit sketchy at night which meant with teenagers we couldn’t really let them go for a wander. On the other hand it was close to the mission area which has the best food and we also found so many other local places to eat. Some really cool street wear shops too. Our kids actually preferred the location to Fisherman’s wharf as they found it more authentic and interesting!! I think a 2-3 day stay there is sufficient.
Loved the interiors. Great friendly helpful service. Comfy bed. Top notch toiletries.

United StatesIt is pricey, the south side of the hotel is ok when using the valet. The north side on market street unfortunately has a lot of homeless, not a place I felt comfortable walking with my wife

United StatesInside the hotel is an oasis, but outside the hotel is a shabby, dangerous atmosphere. The rooms are cheap and I guess it is my fault for not doing the research--during the pandemic, downtown was abandoned and it became a homeless encampment. There were entire blocks with homeless set up in tents and exchanging drugs out in the open. We walked three blocks to a Michelin-star Thai restaurant and had a great meal but we were followed by a man who shouted at us the entire walk home. The hotel does offer a driver to take you anywhere in the city, but they stop that service at 7pm. What a shame for San Francisco and for all those unhoused living in terrible conditions. Also, the valet parking was outrageously expensive $100 per night! I would have never stayed there if I had known it and it took over 20 minutes to get our car.

United StatesDid not like the location They had beer on their menu both at the rooftop bar and the bar in the lobby but we were told of both places that they don’t carry beer anymore… After a long day of being out, it’s nice to know you can come back to your hotel and have a nice cold beer. They should take it off the menu. Also, we could not have lunch at the hotel because the red top did not open until 4 o’clock and there was a women’s gambling convention in the downstairs lobby in Restaurant….. we had invited friends to come there and join us for lunch, but had to go somewhere else We pay way too much for our stay there to not have this information ahead of time Definitely will not recommend or return
The hotel was very pretty and well appointed However, the experience did not live up to the experience we had at Downtown Proper in LA

United StatesLoved the hotel. Parking was hard. We had a long day of travel and delayed flights. Arrived at night. Couldn’t figure out where valet parking was. Drove around the property multiple times. Had to call front desk 3 times to get someone to come out to us and help. Eventually things were fine and the hotel marvelous.

MexicoAt check in front desk wouldn’t let us have access to the room as the reservation appeared to be for two rooms within their system even though Booking had booked only one room correctly. Instead of them reviewing the issue and let us have the room they insisted if they would give us the room they would have to charge both.. no assistance in fixing the issue, we had to call Booking, they contacted th hotel and clarified it was a mistake on the hotel’s side. Hotel is located within a major homeless zone, there was a shooting right at the hotel entrance at around 6pm with around 15 shots being fired. The hotel staff continued operating as this was the most normal thing that could be happening. A further half an hour for late check out was denied.

United StatesI can't think of anything about this hotel that I did not like. Every detail about comfortable accommodations was addressed by the staff and amenities in the room.
The breakfast was superb! We had the Shakshuka on the rooftop and also had breakfast on the first floor patio restaurant. Excellent food and service. Hotel is centrally located between two playhouses, the Golden Gate Theatre and the Orpheum, both of which bring me to San Francisco. I highly recommend this hotel to friends and relatives.
