To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaVery expensive, lots of additional fees actually made me angry. We ordered breakfast for two people - just eggs, bacon, toast and fruit and the bill was $80!!! That’s outrageous! Parking was $60 per day for self parking in the craziest maze of a parking garage or $78 to have someone park your car for you. Astronomical expense in my opinion. The “urban experience” fee of $20/day to get wi-fi and coffee from 6 am -7 am only and other very basic things was just too much. Our room was not serviced every day and we could not enjoy coffee in our room one day, or have clean towels. It was a disappointment.

CanadaI didn't receive any room cleaning on any of the days I was there (and I was there for 5 nights). Nobody told me that I had to ask for room cleaning in advance. In fact we were told if you don't want your room serviced to hang a placard the night before on the door. I wasn't too bothered as I'm fine given I was solo. Could easily get supplies like new clean towels or soap from the front desk. Had dinner at their Palm Restaurant. The food was alright but not stellar. The price was very high for the quality of the food. Lots of better restaurants around.
