Pleasant stay at Hotel Sonne, clean facilities, welcoming staff. Very close to the train station which is a plus. Would stay again.

We stayed two nights, Lilly and Hannah’s service was great. Upon arrival, they showed us a map and points of interest, and they were extremely helpful during our stay. Hotel is walking distance to most points of interest. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pictures on bookings.com do not do it justice. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Owner is so nice and sweet. Invite us for breakfast, chased us to give water so we had water for the day. Really sweet people. Shower is good with nice hot Hot hot water

Grab is so easy to use and taxis are cheap so you can get anywhere in the city easily. It’s in a part of the city good for transport but probably more than 1/2 hour walk to fish market and sea. (Depends what you’re looking for - it was fine for us as tour operator happy to pick us up from this hotel to take us to Phong Nha which was the reason we came to Dong Hoi.

Good value. Large bed and shower was hot. Bedroom & bathroom were clean. Greeted us with a hot drink on arrival and a coffee on leaving. Staff were happy to answer my questions - used Google Translate.

"Our one-night stay was excellent, and the staff was incredibly helpful. They assisted us in booking a day trip to the Phong Nha caves and kindly held our luggage after we checked out. Upon returning from our excursion, they even allowed us to take a shower. Highly recommend due to their outstanding hospitality."

Was given a 2 queen room despite booking 1 king. There were some bugs and a lizard in the room due to the window being open, but we were able to have that taken care of.

Overall, a nice stay. Air conditioning worked very well, and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We rented a motorbike from them for 150k/day. They have a water machine in the lobby to refill your bottles.

The mattresses were a bit old and not that stiff anymore but totally fine for a night.

The hotel was perfect for our brief one-night stay. We arrived in the evening and were leaving for a train early the next morning so we were choosing solely by price and distance from the train station. This hotel had a good location (not too far from the train station and nearby to some streetfood options) and was very cheap by European standards, so we just went for it (while not really having any expectations). But it was clean, had AC, good furniture, minibar and the personnel were helpful and kind, so it pleasantly surprised us and exceeded our expectations. :-)

We stayed in Dong Hoi just to be picked up to see paradise caves so didn’t spend much time there. The hotel was very comfortable and the reception was open 24/7 which is great for people like us who travel in with a night train/bus. No matter when you turn up or check out someone will be there! The receptionist was really nice, caring all the way through even until we ordered our grab he came out to make sure it was the right ride! No bells and whistles about the room or location, it does what it needs to do for an overnight stay.

The beds are amazing - coming from some days/ week of only hard beds we feel like on a cloud. The room is very spacious, as well the bathroom. The shower is great, all is clean. The location is very close to the train station (15 minutes walk) which was perfect for us. Winmart, a Café and some other food stalls are close by.
