Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. It is not ideal for someone on a work trip or on holiday but seeks to work in-between. It's ideal for someone on holiday who prefers to be out and about. If you decide to have a lazy day and stay "home" then it's not ideal.
The sea views are fantastic, my room was cosy and the shower has power (which I really liked), the hosts are warm and engaging. I felt at home. I also loved the breakfast. The house is quite peaceful.

No wastepaper basket. Not enough, easily accessible plugs, no 2 point plugs, one bedside lamp did not work. Would not recommend for 2 people. Far from shops and restaurants. Description on Booking.com is not specific to rooms and accom type

Staff were friendly, rooms were nice and spacious. Communication from the accomodation was good, and they were great with sending updates and the relevant invoice details needed. It was a good stay for a work related trip. Will be booking again in future!

The host and hostess are very friendly and helpfull. They make you feel at home, they know Africa and can give you a lot of local and general information. They have perfect advice for excellent sea-food restaurants, The host makes a perfect breakfast. The view on the sea is beutiful. Close to the King Shaka international airport.

The place is very remote. I was with Uber and was told by the driver dropping me off and the host that I wouldn't get an Uber from the place in the morning. I had no way to get supper or a much needed wine. I found a pub 200m from the place (a pool bar) that didn't know what red wine is. The corner shop next door sold me a chicken burger with cheese. It was a stale bun, a piece of crumbed chicken and a slice of cheese. Nothing else.
I only stayed for one night - in late, out early. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The place was fine, the building is a little run down, but neat and clean. Alex was a great help in arranging a taxi because Uber does not service the area (see below).

Lovely warm welcome from the hosts. The views from the terraces are amazing. Great breakfast and comfortable room. It feels like a home away from home.

Shopping, restaurants, and services are a fair distance away so if you don’t have your own car then you must rely on taxis, which can get expensive.
Nice room, balcony facing the ocean (whale watching), wonderful hosts Alex and Dorothy, really good WiFi, and an outstanding breakfast!! Superb value overall. Also the location is close to the airport.

I think the only thing would have been if they had other guests that we would have shared the bathroom with, but likely it was just us.
Alex makes a big and lovely breakfast. While Dorothy is a good conversationalist. The view from our room was spectacular, the room has a feel of a home away from home.

I should have specified earlier or read the booking details more clearly (my bad) but there were no non-dairy/ vegetarian or gluten-free breakfast options. However, the hosts are lovely and friendly, and will certainly cater to dietary requirements if pre-warned.
Great view, lovely friendly hosts, bedroom had an awesome balcony with a view of the ocean. I loved my morning chat with Dorothy over-looking the beautiful garden and ocean. Great for a 1-nighter close to King Shaka airport.

The house could be much cleaner
We loved the breakfast menu that Alex prepared for us daily. The place has exceptional sea views from the balcony. We LOVED the soothing sounds of the ocean at night. Both Alex and Dorothy were extremely friendly, enjoyed our conversations during breakfast. The place is close to all amenities
