The Japanese landlady was very kind and patient. Travelled with my family and two of my kids got the stomach bug and she was constantly asking how they were doing. She even prepared the bath so they can relax, they felt much better after that. She even made me use her washing machine when I asked her where the nearest laundrymat was. The traditional family room was large and very comfortable. There were rainy days and we just stayed in and it was so nice and comfortable. Location was convenient as very close to the train, a great ramen restaurant, convenient stores and Izakayas. :)

The raw food was good. The dinner specials for guests staying there were good. Not enough hot foods. The non-English speaking staff were very helpful and accommodating with me and my translation app. The paths throughout the whole island were for the most part paved. Excellent views of wildlife, foliage, and slow walks through small villages. The beach was good for combing.

We liked everything about this wonderful traditional ryokan. Located just twenty minutes by train east of Fukuoka, it is nestled in a valley surrounded by forested mountains with cool clean air and nature. It is kept in perfect condition by its friendly and welcoming proprietors. Her food is amazing. You should take her dinners too because they are beautifully crafted from seasonal ingredients mostly grown in her garden. The bath is super clean and wonderful at the end of a hiking day. This is a true find, with gourmet meals, all at a bargain price. Highly recommended
