The room was wide, but had some low ceilings, which wasn't very good for my very tall husband. It was located very close to the Gotanda station, so getting to the Yamanote train line was super easy, and made our last two days of Tokyo very easy to traverse. It was right by the river, and there were some sakura trees nearby, so I'm sure its a beautiful area during the spring! The Family Mart was also like a 30 second walk away, which was so nice. And a ramen shop in a nearby alley had THE BEST RAMEN. As a homebase spot, Sansuiso is in a very ideal location. Also, their shoe boxes had really cool locks. Maybe I'm easily impressed, but I thought it was rad. They also served some snacks in our room that I had been looking for for a few years, so I got excited about that too.

We really liked the size of the room and each room had their own air conditioner and enough space for luggage. We shared bathroom facilities but it was never crowded. The futons were comfortable and we had clean towels and yukatas for use. The host and his mother are so very gracious and very quick to assist with any questions even though they are a little limited in English. They provided water, ice, garbage bags, and umbrellas, and there is a microwave and toaster oven and shared refrigerator. Close to enough to two train stations to get around conveniently.

We loved our room! Authentic Japanese experience. Breakfast was delicious and wholesome. Futons were comfy. Room was always cleaned immaculately. The rooms have real tatami mat floors (not plastic like in other hotels). The onsen was nice and relaxing.
Old japanese ryokan tatami floors/futon beds hotel in the heart of one of the most insane pulsing red light districts of the world? Im totally here for it!
Location is perfect for Shinkuju/Kabukicho nights (~12min walk from the station, Godzilla and KingKong just behind the corner). It was really unexchangeable experience, for VERY good money, taking into consideration the exquisite location
We stayed one night at this hotel in a family room due to an early morning flight. The family room was well set-up, with a tatami area where the futons were rolled up until we needed them. There are also 2 twin beds. The hotel is connected to Terminal 3 and a shopping center, so finding dinner was not a problem.
The highlight was the Japanese onsen with 5 indoor pools and 3 outdoor pools. It was a nice soak before the long flight to finish our holiday.
Perfect traditional hotel. For an affordable price, you get a bath, an onsen, a tatami floor, and futon beds. The hotel itself is not heated but you can heat your room. There was no breakfast but there is a conbini right near the hotel. On the first floor, there is a microwave and a water cooker. We loved this hotel.
Lovely ryokan in a great area of Tokyo.
Warm-hearted welcome and lovely people.
Delicious Japanese breakfast.
Extremely comfortable beds!
If you are looking for a Japanese style accommodation (ryokan with futon beds and tatami floored room) in Tokyo, Ito Ryokan is perfect!
The ryokan is centrally located in Ueno and convenient for the University of Tokyo. It's a ryokan, so you get a low futon and tatami mats on the floor. They also provide you with a yukata to wear indoors. The owners are lovely, and arranged a late check-in for me without any difficulty. It is excellent value for the price.
Stylish and welcoming Ryokan, in a quieter part of Tokyo, yet 5 minutes walk to the metro stop. Rooms are tiny but well equipped, tatami mats with very comfortable futons. Shared bathrooms are good. Jacuzzi is a great bonus. And breakfast excellent, as is the coffee.
Onsen is soooo nice, and is open pretty late for guests. Yukatas r gorg n comfy and snacks provided after bathing r super yum, and overall the most luxurious ryokan we visited :) also seems very open and friendly to all types of visitors, just don't forget to read onsen rules and buy the tattoo patches at front desk if U need them, they were p cheap
Authentic stay at this lovely Ryokan! The breakfast set was really tasty and loved the private Onsen. The futons for sleeping were the comfiest we found in Japan on our travels. Really good facilities all round.
