I could not rate them any higher if I tried. The host picked me up from the small railway station. At no charge. He helped me carry my heavy suitcase. Don’t bring one there if you can help it. He took me to this most beautiful location right next to a Buddhist-monastery. In the middle of the woods, going through small, adventurous roads. I was greeted with a matcha 🍵 and a sweet. A can of tea was given to me. My room had a big window to the woods. I went to view the surroundings and I was honestly stunned. His wife asked me if I wanted a bath and at what time I wished to eat. The food served in a separate private room by the family ( grandma and wife) was out of this world. So much love put into that. So much effort. And it never ended, the arrival of even more little pots and pans. I then slept in the perfectly clean little bed on the floor. Rainy night, so cozy. Breakfast was served and just as perfect as the evening before. The host took me back to the train. I left my bag at the station to see the Adachi- museum of art. All in all, if you are after the real Japanese experience- go here! I took the train here for 6 hours, and I would always do this again. I just wish they put their prices up. They are so much worth this- and more.

Everything was so chic and modern in a traditional area. It’s this new wave of Japanese accommodation that is very impressive. It’s a little pricey, but absolutely worth every cent in my opinion.

Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

Ryokan Koyokan está ubicado en Yasugi, a 27 km de Mizuki Shigeru Road, y tiene un jardín, habitaciones hipoalergénico y wifi gratis. Truly special experience in a serene setting. Wonderful hosts who care for every detail to ensure a comfortable stay.

Hoshi Ryokan está ubicado en Tsuwano, a 1,2 km de Santuario Taikodani Inari y a 1,9 km de Tsuwano Joushi. El alojamiento ofrece habitaciones con aire acondicionado y baño compartido. Hoshi Ryokan is so good that staying there justifies the trip to Tsuwano all by itself. An immense tatami room (actually two, a bedroom and a sitting room) plus a veranda to sit and watch the world go by. The owners are extremely gentle and helpful (they picked us up from the station even if it is only just across the road, just because it was raining so hard) and the breakfast and dinner are well worth having, and not only because there are few other options in town. And you stay in a real family home, the way B&B used to be.

Saginoyusou está ubicado en Yasugi, a 24 km de Lago Shinji y a 27 km de Museo Conmemorativo Lafcadio Hearn. My first 10 rating. Our room was fantastic, with a large sitting area, separate sleeping area with comfortable beds and private outdoor onsen. Staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and polite. Our meals were excellent and very filling. Each large window in our room looked out on different areas of an impeccably designed garden. We are already planning our next visit.

Senjoen está ubicado frente al mar en Shimokō, a 15 km de Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall y a 42 km de Nima Sand Museum. There is a beach near the hotel and friendly staff

El Onsen Guest House Aobato no Su ofrece alojamiento en Matsue, a pocos pasos de Tamatsukuri Onsen, y cuenta con wifi gratis en todas las instalaciones. Hay estacionamiento privado gratuito. The room was cozy, comfortable and bigger than expected. I especially enjoyed the traditional elements and the garden view from the room. The onsen was very nice and I felt refreshed afterwards. The location was perfect for walking the length of the town. We fell in love with the charm of the magatama town. Beautiful at night and during the day. Natural foot baths ajoined to the river, cute cafes, delicious izakaya food, accessories and so many magatama that you will be enamored by. The history felt alive. I highly recommend this location to anyone!
