Lyons Woodlands Hall, hotel in Ruthin

Nestling amongst the wooded hills of the Vale of Clwyd, Lyons Woodlands Hall is situated within the Lyons Woodlands Hall Holiday Park grounds, only 30 minutes' drive from Chester.

This is the centre of a holiday homes park, saying that it’s the centre of the home owners community. There’s blasting music, bingo, quiz - if you’re into it the place is for you. It has a small bar, dining area, small restaurant. Rooms are ok, the building itself has a character. We had a warm welcome on arrival.

Ruthin Castle Hotel and Spa, hotel in Ruthin

Ruthin Castle Hotel and Spa offers a retreat steeped in history and nestled in acres of parkland. Next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales, the castle dates back to 1277.

The room was beautiful but would benefit from a lick of paint. Mattress was much too thin and uncomfortable. The castle and staff were amazing. Grounds are so beautiful. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. More serene music would have been nicer than pop music and more fitting to the surrounding (personal choice). Breakfast was ok. Coffee was awful, as was the fruit juice!

We were in room 105. The toilet was broken.

We were in room 105. The toilet was broken. The room that came out to 9:30 to try and fix it. Couldn’t fix it so we had no toilet all night. The windows rattled. You can get a magazine between the gap. The room was freezing cold we complained in the morning asked for a refund. I was told would they be in touch? That was a week ago? We still don’t have had our money back.

Lyon’s Resort we stayed in Communication before we arrived...

Lyon’s Resort we stayed in Communication before we arrived was none existent even though I contacted the property before hand. There was no hairdryer even though they said there would be. There were dead flies in all the light fittings and marks on the walls by the trouser press. There were no coat hangers in the wardrobe. There was no option of a cooked breakfast. The place location was great for the beautiful walk we went on x

Lovely village but would be plenty for people with or without children and lots to do onsite also lots to do further afield as we know the area well whether in the countryside or on the fabulous beaches nearby the Xmas truck run was on the Saturday night I think the whole village turned up must have been 100trucks will definitely go back to see it again next year real community spirit.

Ruthin was very quiet when we stayed Sunday and Monday night...

Ruthin was very quiet when we stayed Sunday and Monday night in October, just a couple of pubs. The Small Plates Tapas restaurant we planned to visit was closed both nights. The Castle and ruins are worth a walk around. Just a 10 min walk from the Castle Hotel. Nice gardens with live peacocks free to roam. Good for photographs. A market next to hotel i believe opens on a Saturday. Not much else for shoppers.

Ruthin has a lot of history and character.

Ruthin has a lot of history and character. It is well worth walking round the town and noting the architecture of buildings. Ruthin Castle brings it all together and was well situated to defend the town historically.

Ruthin is a beautiful small town.

Ruthin is a beautiful small town. We followed the Town Trail, which took us about 3 hours with a lot of stops on the way, and we could have taken longer. Small Plates is a great restaurant, a bit like tapas. Ignore the 1 hygiene rating - we were informed by other proprietors that the local hygiene inspectors pay more attention to paper work than hygiene and mark you down if the paper work is not 10)% in order.

The hotel is a lovely old Victorian style house in a peaceful country setting. Beautiful carved oak fireplaces, staircases and wall friezes. Every room looked clean and well kept (apart from the reception room and the two games rooms upstairs). Our room was spacious with plenty of storage and a lovely big comfy bed. A very nice bathroom, sparkling clean and big fluffy towels. It was quiet, warm and cosy. Perfect for a good night's sleep.

It was cosy and central and super clean and suited our family of four perfectly.. all facilities were catered for and good communication with the owner. Silly things like shampoo and hand washes sweets on the towels and tea and coffee etc all there. This I expect from a hotel but not an air B&B. The little things make all the difference to your stay and central for Ruthin itself and the castle.

The Feathers is right in the middle of the interesting historic, small town of Ruthin. Its a pub/hotel so i checked in the bar and was promptly shown up to my room which had shared use of a kitchen. The room and bathroom were spotless, warm furnished nicely. I made use of the bar downstairs which was very cheery and covid aware. Well done guys!

Love Ruthin, and staying in this stunning building, just added to our stay, first time staying at a Wetherspoon’s Hotel, very impressed with value for money, and food great here, as eaten here several times before, thank you to the chef, and helpful staff. Will definitely stay again.

The Barn was set in the most idyllic location with stunning views all around. The hosts were very welcoming without being intrusive. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, spacious and modern, and really well equipped in the kitchen and lounge area. We will be back! :)
