We stayed for three nights as the purpose of our stay was to give us a base from which we could easily get to Glasgow for a stadium concert. We had a day in Ayr and felt this was enough to see around the town and visit the shops. Not sure there's enough in Ayr itself for a longer stay but we didn't really check it out as we came with a specific purpose in mind (i.e. easy access to Glasgow by car). Ayr is pleasant with historical interest and the reassurance of a Marks and Spencer! It doesn't have the charm of other Scottish seaside towns (Dunbar, North Berwick) and would benefit from more local investment by the council, but it was a pleasant, safe stay and we enjoyed our time there.JulieStevoUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Ayr has lots of amenities to suit all. From Ayr you can travel to lots of places depending on want you want from a holiday - such as scenery, beach, shopping, relaxing and generally have a great time.

The town is not what it once was, but as someone born and bred in Ayr I have nothing to dislike about it. Loads of good places to stay and to eat for all tastes and expenses. Very easy to navigate around the town by car, lots of buses at regular intervals. 3 great golf courses if that's your thing, loads of nice walks along the river, beach and if you find it Craigie Park (great for picnics).
