We stayed for three nights as the purpose of our stay was to give us a base from which we could easily get to Glasgow for a stadium concert. We had a day in Ayr and felt this was enough to see around the town and visit the shops. Not sure there's enough in Ayr itself for a longer stay but we didn't really check it out as we came with a specific purpose in mind (i.e. easy access to Glasgow by car). Ayr is pleasant with historical interest and the reassurance of a Marks and Spencer! It doesn't have the charm of other Scottish seaside towns (Dunbar, North Berwick) and would benefit from more local investment by the council, but it was a pleasant, safe stay and we enjoyed our time there.

The town is not what it once was, but as someone born and bred in Ayr I have nothing to dislike about it. Loads of good places to stay and to eat for all tastes and expenses. Very easy to navigate around the town by car, lots of buses at regular intervals. 3 great golf courses if that's your thing, loads of nice walks along the river, beach and if you find it Craigie Park (great for picnics).

Although there is a selection of the bars, restaurants and shops, the town centre is sadly lacking. Many, many empty shops. Full of charity shops, nail bars and vape shops. Ayr used to be one of my favourite places. Sadly, unfortunately those days are long gone.

Find out where you would like to go and what you can do once you get there Take a street plan with you as there is not one to be found in Ayr
THere's is NO Tourist information Centre
The location of the hotel suited my needs to be in Central Ayr
Breakfast was good although the kitchen ran out of brown bread, and I would have preferred a selection of yogurt to go with the fruit.
The room had a tired appearance, the ceiling had several repairs carried out over time, The covering. in places, looked as though it had beed applied with a trowel and had not been smoothed over properly
The Ayr and Galloway hotel offers a pleasant stay in their comfortable hotel rooms. Our room was spotless, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. There was plenty of hot water for a relaxing shower. The staff were friendly and always ready to assist. The dining experience was tasty,.filling, with hearty bar food options available..we had a nice stay and would stay again.
A large room in one of the annexes with a huge bed, a small table and chairs, TV and a short walk to the main hotel for breakfast and dinner. Good range of choices at breakfast and a varied restaurant menu for dinner including some ‘different’ vegetarian options as well. Easy to walk into the town and an easy drive to Robert Burns’ birthplace and Ayr beach.
Excellent visit to the Horizon. Great location, great huge bed. Excellent breakfast, lovely staff, very helpful and pleasant. Nice to see a hotel that is so dog friendly. And we had lovely weather. 10/10 visit to Ayr. Thank you all at the Horizon. Excellent value for money. Loved the haddock and poached egg for breakfast, cooked to perfection. 👍
For a "budget" hotel, this was exceptional. Very clean and had all the facilities we required for a short break. The staff are very friendly. The welcome was warm both from them and the many locals who use the smashing wee bar. That real cask ales were on sale from the on-site Ayr Brewing Company was an added bonus for us.
Cozy apartment in the beautiful city of Ayr, all the sights and infrastructure of the city are within walking distance. Walking along the oceanfront promenade with a fresh breeze invigorates and energizes. Very hospitable hosts. Special thanks to the hostess Julia who helped and supported us.
I loved the size of the room and the complimentary robes & slippers. The view was also amazing - we were in a sea front privileged room. The location of the hotel was great. Plenty round about. The breakfast was also really great, we were pleasantly surprised.
Yes the owner had double booked it. I paid 250.00 to get it. I need you to refund the money. I was stranded in Ayr and spent all day trying to get accommodation due to busy hotels (the horse racing was on. I need compensated for this
Room was so spotless quality soft furnishings and a super comfy bed, great breakfast and the hosting was brilliant. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a stay in Ayr. Also great location 2 ticks from the beach.
Brought up in Ayrshire so I already knew it was special but the hospitality I received at Kilkerran was excellent from the start. Lovely warm and friendly host. The facilities were clean and cozy. Comfy bed too.
As a regular visitor, I love everything, the food, rooms, comfort, location. Fairfield is the best hotel in Ayr. Charlotte and the team always make you feel like family been coming here for 2 years
Very nice hotel. Staff are always pleasant. Short walk to both seafront and centre of ayr. I would highly recommend the Kylestrome to anyone looking for accommodation in ayr.
